CHAPTER 5
"Mommy! Mommy! Please! Please can I come with you?"
Lia's cute and whiny voice echoed through the room.
Kongpob looked at his daughter who was pulling his arm.
Kongpob was getting ready to go to the office when Lia started shouting that she doesn't want to go to daycare but join her Mommy and Uncle Aim.
"Lia, baby, I told you that you are not allowed to come to the office. Babies are not allowed to enter the office, dear." Kongpob tried to reason.
Lia looked at Kongpob, her lips pouting.
"I'm not a baby! I'm a grown-up girl!" She argued as she crossed her arms around her chest.
Kongpob looked at Aim who was sitting on the sofa, trying to muffle his laughter.
"You are a grown-up girl for Mommy, but not for others baby. Please don't start a fight.", Kongpob said as he crouched down to match his daughter's height.
Lia looked at Kongpob with tear-filled eyes and started to cry aloud.
Aim and Kongpob closed their ears hearing Lia's loud screaming voice.
"Lia, uncle Aim will take you with us!" Aim said at last, Kongpob's eyes widened at Aim's words.
Lia stopped her screaming and crying suddenly and a wide smile engraved on her lips as she rushed towards her uncle to give a tight hug.
"Aim! Are you mad!? How can I take her to office!?" Kongpob glared at his best friend.
"Kongpob, relax. We will take her with us and will ask Marium to take care of her when we are busy.," Aim said.
Marium is a staff of the company who has a little crush on Aim. Both Aim and Kongpob had been working with the company for the past 3 weeks, and it gave more time for Marium to get closer to Aim and of course, Aim told her he was already taken.
Marium was sad at first but she always talked to Aim and Kongpob and helped them so much with the company matters.
"I hope Lia won't say anything to them," Kongpob looked at Lia with fear in his eyes.
Lia looked at her mom hearing it.
"I won't tell anything, Mommy. You told me not to tell anything then I will obey it! I'm a good girl!" Lia said with a wide smile showing her dimples.
"My mother's name is Krisia Prachaya, my name is Liane Prachaya, I don't have a father. I live in Canada. Am I correct Mommy?" Lia asked as she looked at her Kongpob with her innocent eyes.
Kongpob's eyes filled up with tears he heard his daughter's words. He went near his daughter and hugged her tight. Tears rolling down from his eyes.
"Yes, baby. You're correct. Mommy loves you so much baby girl. Mommy love you!"
***********
"I hope nothing won't go wrong," Kongpob said as he walked through the corridor of the company with Lia holding his little finger, and Aim walking beside him.
"Kong, don't overthink! Let everything come and go as it wish," Aim said as he rolled his eyes.
"Oh my! Is this your daughter P'Krisia!!! She is so cute!!" Marium's voice brought Kongpob out of his thoughts.
"Hi aunty!" Lia's cute little voice made Marium squeal in excitement.
"She is soo cute!" Marium said as she touched Lia's chubby cheeks.
"Yeah, she is, Marium. I hope you will help me take care of her. She was throwing a fist on not going to daycare," Kongpob said in his soft and sweet voice, calm as ever.
"Sure I will! There is no question about that! Come baby girl!" Marium took Lia in her hands and played with her.
Kongpob and Aim looked at Lia and Marium and smiled.
"What is your name baby?" Marium asked as she gave a chocolate which was in her pocket to Lia.
"My name is Liane Prachaya and my Mother's name is Krisia Prachaya. Right, Mommy?"
Kongpob facepalmed at Lia's question before he nodded his head.
Marium giggled at the little girl and kissed her forehead.
Soon Lia was taken to meet other co-workers by Marium leaving Aim and Kongpob to meet the three partners of them.
Kongpob walked inside the guests' room which had two cabins for Aim and himself.
Kongpob sat in his seat and looked at the wall near him. Just across the wall was Arthit's cabin.
In this three weeks of being with his so-called three seniors, they have never asked about him at all. Mostly they would talk with Aim and ask him how was his life abroad? And how he managed to get there?
Knott and Prem would speak with him at certain occasions, giving their full respect for him as a lady. But Arthit. He never talked to him. He never asked anything. He only looked at him from afar. There was something in those eyes that Kongpob couldn't understand. Something other than love and care that he used to find in those black deep eyes.
And this somehow made Kongpob sad. There was a pang in his chest whenever he saw Arthit. The emotions that were buried deep in his heart came to the surface.
He wanted to touch his P'Arthit, even though he couldn't say Arthit was his now. He wanted to tell that he was Kongpob, not some lady named Krisia. He wanted to tell that his daughter was Arthit's too, Arthit was his daughter's father.
But he couldn't.
He didn't have the courage to. He didn't wanted to spoil off the decision he had took 5 years before within his simple stupid steps. He didn't wanted to send the pain and trauma he had suffered related to this in vain.
Kongpob looked at Aim who was engrossed in his phone, a smooth smile on his lips. Kongpob knew whom Aim was messaging to. And Kongpob was happy for him. He envied Aim for everything he had gone through with him.
He still remembered the time when Arthit barged into Aim's room where he stayed , 5 years ago, just one day after their breakup.
Flashback...
Aim and Kongpob who were packing their bags and other belonging to go to Canada was startled when they heard the doorbell ring.
Aim walked to the door and looked out through the eye hole. There was a gasp heard from Aim.
"Kong, its P'Arthit!"
Kongpob was rooted in his place. His eyes were wide. He was startled when the person outside banged the door.
"I will be inside the room. Tell him I'm not here. Tell him...I'm gone. Tell him things which will make him hate me!" Kongpob said before he rushed to the room and closed the door. Tears flowing from his eyes.
Aim sighed. He took a deep breath and opened the door.
He was shocked to see his senior in such a condition.
Arthit was completely drunk. There was a beer bottle in his right hand. His hair was messy. The white shirt he wore releasing stingy smell. The black eyes which had life in it was gone. There were dry tears in his cheeks.
"P'Arthit?" Aim gasped.
Arthit looked at Aim and hugged him.
"Aim! I was looking around for you! I was searching for you, Aim!" Arthit said, his voice loud.
Aim gulped, he knew the reason for his senior searching for him.
"Why did you search me for P'Arthit?" Aim asked hesitantly.
Arthit pulled away from Aim and balanced himself on the wall.
"Kong. I want to see Kong, Aim. Where is he!? I wanted to see him!" Arthit's voice was mixed with sadness and helplessness. There was hope in his voice that made Aim feel useless.
"I don't know, P'Arthit. He is with you right. Then why are you asking me?" Aim asked as if he doesn't know anything.
"He...he...he...broke up...with me," Arthit's voice broke. Tears started to flow through his eyes.
"P'Arthit, I'm sorry. I...I never thought he would break up with you.," Aim said, acting disbelief.
"Me too!! I thought so too!! But I was wrong, Aim!! I was wrong! I thought he loved me! He told me that he hates me! He told me he was tired! I'm useless Aim! I'm useless! I lost the love of my life because of my character!" Arthit started blaming himself.
Aim looked at Arthit with helplessness. He couldn't do anything other than agree with his best friend.
"Please don't think so, P'Arthit. In a way or other you will find a person who perfects for you other than Kongpob! He didn't even tell me about anything! He just...vanished! I have not seen him since after the graduation, P'Arthit. I think it is him you have to blame on! Kongpob might be not patient enough for you P! Please don't blame yourself for this! It is all Kongpob's fault!," Aim tried to convince Arthit as he could.
Arthit looked at Aim and glared at him. The bottle in his hand fell to the floor and broke into pieces.
He jumped and gripped Aim's collars, his eyes filled with anger.
"You have no right to scold, Kong! He is my lover! He is my life! Tell me! Where did you hide him?! Tell me where you took him!? Tell me why? Why did he leave me!? Why did he? Why?" Arthit started sobbing.
Soon he fell unconscious on Aim's shoulder.
"P'Arthit? P'Arthit?" Aim called his senior but there was no response.
Kongpob rushed from the room with tear-filled eyes and looked at Arthit who was in Aim's shoulders.
"Take him to his condemn, Aim. I will give you the address. And...I have the duplicate key. Make sure he is safe," Kongpob said as he walked to Aim and pushed the key in his hand into Aim's pocket.
Aim looked at Kongpob and nodded.
"And..."
Aim halted on his steps when Kongpob spoke.
"He will be having beer bottles in his fridge. Make sure you throw them away. Clean his room, it might be messy," Kongpob said, his eyes not leaving his ex-lover's face.
Aim nodded before he closed the door and walked away.
Flashback end...
Kongpob looked to the wall beside him as a tear slipped from his eyes.
It was the last time he had seen Arthit. Worse than the time when he had announced their breakup.
He didn't want to leave his lover but the circumstances was against him, against his wishes, against his dreams.
Kongpob sighed, he tried to forget it but every time he tired he only ended up hurting his feelings.
Kongpob wiped the tears from his corners and tried to focus on his work.
*******
Knott came out of the mechanical floor along with Aim and Kongpob while explaining the process of their new product.
When the three of them walked to their floor they heard laughter from the employees.
Knott, Aim and Kongpob looked at the source of laughter and saw the employees surrounded around Arthit and Prem who was laughing.
"Arthit is... laughing?" Knott muttered under his breath, but Kongpob heard it clearly.
The three of them walked to the small crowd in the office.
The sight they saw formed different emotions in the three of them.
Knott's face was indicating surprise while Aim's was fear. Kongpob's face was expressionless, there was too many emotions in his face.
Arthit was holding Lia in his arms and was playing with her. And Lia was oddly clingy to Arthit. Prem and other coworkers were looking at the two of them while trying their best to take Lia from Arthit's hands.
"L...Li...Lia?" Kongpob's voice shuttered but soon he cleared his voice and tried to act natural.
Everyone's attention turned towards Kongpob, including Arthit, whose eyes went wide.
"Mommy!" Lia slipped out from Arthit's hands and rushed to Kongpob who engulfed her in his arms.
"I'm sorry if she made trouble for you guys. I'm sorry Mr. Arthit, Mr.Prem," Kongpob apologized to all of them.
For the first time, Arthit smiled towards him while he walked forward. But the smile was not directed to him but to Lia.
"It is okay, Mrs. Krisia. Lia is really cute. I hope you bring her here often. It's been long since I have felt so revealed and happy. She just have some kind of magic in making me feel good," Arthit said as he looked at Lia and smiled showing his dimple to which Lia returned the smile with her cute dimple in display.
Kongpob stared at Arthit for a minute. After a long time he saw love in those black eyes. Kongpob turned towards Prem and Knott who had a smile on their faces, a relaxed and revealed smile.
"Lia and Sir Arthit look-alike, isn't it?" Marium's question made other look at Arthit and Lia carefully.
"Yeah! Hey didn't notice that. Look they have the same smile," Another employee supported the statement.
Kongpob gulped and looked at Aim who was having the same expression as his.
"Hmm...I may take my leave now. I have some personal things to finish. Aim will be here for you. Please excuse me," Kongpob excused himself, appearing as casual possible.
"Bye Uncle Arthit!!!" Lia shouted at Arthit, waving cutely at him.
Kongpob didn't look back, he was afraid that they would know the truth soon. He was afraid if he would see something in Arthit that will halt his steps.
Kongpob took his bag from his cubicle before he went to the elevator to go down.
"Mommy, you know? Uncle Arthit played with me so much! He is so nice! He gave me toffee! You know? He brought me Pink Milk! I love that drink so much! Can you buy it for me, Mommy?" Lia exclaimed in excitement.
Kongpob didn't know what to say. He only smiled and nodded his head.
"Yayyy! I love you so much!" Lia kissed his Mommy's cheeks.
The lift reached the ground floor and was about to ask the company driver to send him to the accommodation when he heard his name, duplicate name, being called.
Kongpob turned around to find Knott running towards him.
"What is it Mr. Knott?" Kongpob asked in confusion.
Knott tried to stable his breath before he opened his mouth.
"Can you please bring Lia tomorrow also?" Knott's question made Kongpob gasp.
He looked at Lia who was holding his little finger, looking at him with innocent eyes.
"Why?" It was the only word that came from Kongpob's mouth.
There was bitter smile on Knott's face.
"I know it sounds weird but, we got our Arthit back today. Emotionally and physically."
Kongpob stared at Knott with a blank face. He didn't know what to say, he know he was the reason for it and it brought a pang in his chest.
"Arthit had been hardcore since a few years. There has been a lot that he had gone through. But after he met Lia today, there is something that changed him. I don't know what it is, but," Knott sighed.
"We just want to have our friend back. And Lia can make him that old Arthit," Knott said as he looked at Lia who smiled showing her dimple.
Kongpob was silent for a minute. His brain and heart had different answers for him.
"I... I will." Kongpob said before he got inside the car. Kongpob couldn't believe himself. He didn't even realise what he had told to Knott. His mind filled with Arthit's smile that was present when he was with Lia.
Knott looked at the car which was moving away from his sight. A sigh slipped through his lips.
*******
The time Kongpob and Lia reached their room, Lia was asleep on his shoulder.
He tucked Lia in the bed and took off his wig and other accessories. He sighed heavily before he took his towel and got into the bathroom for a shower.
When Kongpob came out of the hot shower, it was already evening.
Kongpob's mind was in a mess. He didn't know how to react to his life. He wished he could end this all at once, but he couldn't.
He decides to take a break.
He left a message to Aim that he will be out for a few hours before he walked out of the room with a black hoodie and blue jeans.
He called a taxi and asked to drop him at Siam square.
Kongpob's eyes were fixed on the road when he was inside the taxi. He pulled down the glass and allowed the cold wind brush through his face.
A sly smile appearing in his face as he felt the touch of wind on his face.
He closed his eyes and tried to observe the wind. But memories of the place rushed towards him.
School, University, friends, seniors, juniors....Arthit.
He opened his eyes as his thoughts reached the person who he tried his best to ignore.
He still couldn't believe that he himself had the courage to tell Arthit that he didn't love him when he clearly loved him more than his own life.
He still blames himself for taking decisions himself but he had no other choice. He had no other choice than leave the person who he cherished the most.
"You have to do this! Or else you will never see them again."
Kongpob shut his eyes tightly as the memories of a brutal night and day flashed across his eyes.
"Sir? The stop is here."
Kongpob opened his eyes at the sound. He looked around to find himself in front of the mall. He walked out of the car and paid before he walked I side the mall.
He walked through the mall in between people who were busy in their own world.
Kongpob has his hoodie covering his face which made others look at him crazily.
Kongpob walked to a cafe and ordered two glasses of Pink Milk.
Kongpob was about to walk away from the cafe with the two drinks in his hand when someone pushed him from the back. Letting his fall in his steps, making his hoodie move away from his face.
"I'm so sorry!"
Kongpob looked at the owner of the voice which seemed oddly familiar to him.
Kongpob's eyes widened when he saw the two people who were behind him looking at each other with their mouths open.
Two of them had hatred and anger in their eyes while one was having fear and confusion in the eyes.
"YOU!!"
The two men shouted, gaining attention from others.
