CHAPTER 13
Kongpob squinted his eyes. His ears perched up as he heard small giggles and talks. He turned his head right and left a little before his hands made its way to his forehead. Kongpob massaged his forehead as he slowly opened his eyes.
Kongpob blinked his eyes as he adjusted to the light, the bright light of the room sending irritation in his eyes but he soon managed to open his eyes wide.
Soon flashes of the moments that passed by rushed into his mind.
Kongpob sat up straight on his bed as his eyes looked around the room.
All the walls were white. He soon realised he was in the hospital.
Kongpob stood rooted in his place when he saw the view in front of him.
Arthit was braiding Lia's long brown hair in different styles. And kissing her hair occasionally. Lia was holding a mirror looking at the masterpieces Arthit was doing on her hair.
Kongpob's eyes watered.
He has dreamt of how Lia would be if she was with her Daddy. He wished once how wonderful it would be if Lia had someone to call Daddy. He wished Arthit would be there with him.
But he knew it was he who chose this path and it was he who left Arthit for good.
But now, he saw Arthit playing with Lia, even if he doesn't know Lia was his daughter too. He wished he could tell Arthit the truth about Lia. But he couldn't.
"Oh! Mommy! Mommy is up!"
Lia was the first one to notice Kongpob's presence.
Kongpob gasped when Arthit's eyes met his.
"Kong, are you okay now?" Arthit asked concerned. He stood up and walked towards Kongpob. Arthit pressed the red button near the hospital bed before he turned his attention towards Kongpob.
Kongpob looked at Arthit who just stood in his place, not coming near to him while Lia came running to him and hugged him tightly.
Kongpob just nodded his head. He missed those eyes which showed concern for him.
"Mommy scared Lia. Lia was so scared seeing Mommy fall," Lia whined.
Kongpob's eyes widened, his eyes turned towards Arthit who was only looking at Lia with overflowing love in his eyes. He couldn't believe that Arthit heard Lia calling him Mommy. Why didn't the elder male react?
"I...I'm... I'm sorry baby. Mommy was just...tired, didn't sleep well," Kongpob tried to seek an excuse.
Lia smiled and nodded his head.
"I know! Don't worry Lia was fine," Lia told still nuzzling her face in Kongpob's chest.
"Mommy, you know? We were playing so many things when you were sleeping! Daddy also braided my hair! See?" Lia said enthusiastically showing her braided hair to Kongpob.
Kongpob's eyes widened when he heard the name Lia called for Arthit.
"Daddy?"
Kongpob looked at Arthit in confusion who only had a satisfied smile on his face which Kongpob didn't understand.
"Hehe! Daddy asked me to call him like that! Since I don't have anyone to call like that I called him. And you know Mommy? We have a lot of similarities! We look alike right, Mommy?" Lia asked her Mommy who only nodded his head with an expressionless face.
The three were soon interrupted by the two people that walked inside the room.
"Kong, you okay?" Aim's concerned filled face came in view as the doctor who was along with him went towards Kongpob and took the latter's hand to check the pulse.
"I...I'm okay, Aim. Nothing to worry about," Kongpob smiled at his best friend.
Aim sighed in relief before he smiled at his friend.
"Ok, you're perfectly fine. Take your medicines regularly and don't stress out your mind for a few days. You can go home now," the doctor smiled at everyone before bowing his head in respect as he walked out of the room.
Arthit's and Kongpob's eyes met for a second. Kongpob could feel his own heartbeat raising.
Did P'Arthit know?
"Yeah! Mommy is coming home!"
*********
It's been almost two hours since Kongpob was brought back to the accomodation. Aim had left after he made sure his best friend was fine. He even gave Arthit his side of encouragement to deal with Kongpob.
Aim was also wanted to end seeing Kongpob always blaming himself for everything.
Arthit and Kongpob didn't talk since they came back to the room. Neither did Kongpob asked him anything, nor did Arthit intended to say anything.
Arthit sighed as he itched to speak to Kongpob. He watched Kongpob and Lia sitting and watching TV in eachother's embrace.
He felt left out.
Arthit walked towards Kongpob and pulled his hands up making Kongpob stand up. His eyes turned wide in response.
"Baby, can you watch TV alone for a few hours. I and your Mommy have something important to talk about?"
Lia nodded her enthusiastically and continued to watch TV.
Arthit looked at Kongpob and dragged him to the bedroom before he could say anything.
"P'Arthit, what are you doing?" Kongpob asked when he saw Arthit sitting on his bed as if he hadn't been doing anything weird for the past hours.
"What? Is it a mistake to see the love of your life?" Arthit questioned back.
Kongpob closed his eyes and tried to make his heartbeat stable.
"P'Arthit I already told you there is nothing between us now. We are nothing P'Arthit. I have a life now. I have a family. Please don't ruin it."
Arthit sighed. He looked at Kongpob who didn't dare to make eye contact with him.
"Then why did you disguise as a woman, Kongpob? If you were happy with your life and didn't love me anymore, why did you not dare to show yourself in front of me? Can you say you stopped loving me?" Arthit flooded Kongpob's mid with questions.
Kongpob closed his eyes. He had answers for these questions but he was not ready to tell them to Arthit.
"P'Arthit, you don't know anything. You don't know. Please P'Arthit I beg you. Please...leave me...leave me alone. I and Aim will soon leave this country. I won't bother you again." Kongpob said, his eyes pleading to Arthit to please agree to him.
"Tell me then Kongpob. Tell me what I don't know. Did I bother you these many years? I thought you were happy after you broke up with me. Do you know how much I suffered? Do you know how many nights I cried myself to sleep? Do you know how much time I tried to kill myself?" Tears started whelmed up in Arthit's eyes.
"You are my life Kongpob, my breath. I can't live without you. Even if I am the CEO of a company, even if I am living now, this is not the real me Kongpob and you know it. I'm lifeless inside without my other half."
Arthit walked towards Kongpob and took his hands in his.
"Please Kongpob, give me one more chance. Please tell me everything. I knew from the beginning I saw you in my office that it was you. Did you think you could fool me by dressing up as a woman?" Arthit chuckled to himself.
"I have known you for years Kongpob. I have loved you for years and I'm still loving you unconditionally. I heard your talk with Aim in the office in your real voice. From that day onwards I insisted to find your true identity. I send my friends to it. But after some days they started to lie to me. They started to negotiate me telling you were not related to Krisia."
Tears rolled down from Kongpob's eyes. He didn't know what to say. Everything that he tried to hide was slowly coming out.
"I came to know that my friends know the real reason behind your actions and me who was the victim of your actions doesn't know anything. You are my love Kong, and I know you love me. Knott told me that you did all this to protect me. What is the meaning of all these? I need answers Kongpob." Arthit asked with pleading eyes.
Kongpob couldn't help himself but cry.
"I can't, P. I can't! These many years, I suffered because of my actions. I...I just wanted everyone to be safe. I didn't want anyone to be hurt because of me."
Arthit's heart ached to see the person he loves shedding tears in front of him.
"Please give me time, P'Arthit. Please! My mind is not in the right place. I...I need time." Kongpob cried.
A small smile spread over Arthit's lips when he heard Kongpob's words. He could at least heave a sigh of relief knowing sooner or later Kongpob will tell him the truth.
Arthit wiped Kongpob's tears with his fingers making the latter flinch with the sudden touch.
"I will give you time, Kongpob. But you have to tell me everything. Believe me Kong. Please. I want us to be together again. Like the old Arthit and Kongpob, that hot-tempered head hazer and his 0062. I want us to get together. At least for Liane, Kongpob. I know that she is my daughter."
Arthit's words made Kongpob gasp.
"H...how?"
Arthit chuckled seeing Kongpob's shocked face.
"Knott, he told me. Do you know? From the first time I met Lia I felt a special attraction towards her. As if I was responsible to take care of her. See, at last, she is my real daughter. A parent can recognize their children Kongpob."
There was no end for the tears that came out of both the men's eyes.
Kongpob now understood why Arthit asked Lia to call him Daddy. His heart busted in happiness hearing that Arthit accepted him as himself and their daughter.
"I may take my leave now, Kongpob. And I want to say one more thing."
Kongpob looked at Arthit with confusion.
"You look more beautiful without makeup. I love my real Kong. I...I love you Kong."
Color crept on Kongpob's face as he heard Arthit's words. Unknowingly a small smile spread over his face which soon vanished when he noticed Arthit viewing him with a teasing smile.
"You should leave. I will come to you one day after I am ready. I hope you can wait for me," Kongpob said.
"I can always wait for you, Kongpob," Arthit said as he planted a soft kiss on Kongpob's forehead.
Arthit soon walked out of the bedroom and was greeted with the sight of a sleeping Lia on the couch.
"She lost so much energy playing with me. Do you know? She is just like you. Active and rebellious and smart talker." Arthit chuckled as he planted a soft kiss on Lia's forehead.
Kongpob smiled sincerely as he watched the father and daughter.
"I will take my leave now. And when you come to the company make sure you come in a woman's outfit. We won't be able to answer the questions of others." Arthit said as he unlocked the door.
Kongpob didn't say anything. He just nodded his head.
"Take care of yourself well, and I...I'm sorry for what I said and did at the office. I couldn't think straight during that time. I'm sorry Kong," Arthit apologised.
Kongpob nodded and smiled shyly.
"It's okay P'Arthit."
Arthit looked intensely into Kongpob's eyes, trying to find any discomfort or regret for meeting him that day. But he only saw love and care which was deeply hidden inside those dark brown eyes of his love. He could see the pain and hurt in it which made him clench his fist.
"Before I go, can I hear those three words of love?" Arthit asked, his voice somehow having hope that Kongpob would do as he asked.
Kongpob broke eye-contact between them. He didn't say anything.
Kongpob's silence made Arthit chuckle bitterly.
"Bye Kong," Arthit said before he walked away from Kongpob's room.
Kongpob raised his head up to meet Arthit's retreating back. There was this itching feeling in his heart which made her suffocate.
"I love you, P'Arthit."
