CHAPTER 11

"Kongpob..."

Kongpob's body stiffened when he heard the voice calling him from behind. He covered his mouth with both of his hands, trying to suppress his sobs.

"Kongpob, I know it's you. Did you think you could fool me!?" Arthit said, scoffing as he walked towards Kongpob.

Arthit stood a foot behind Kongpob and sighed. He didn't know what to do now. He had planned everything until this point. He himself had asked Marium to call him up on stage to sing.

"I know you are not Krisia Prachaya, but Kongpob Suttilak. I have known it for the past few weeks," Arthit chuckled bitterly.

"I never expected to see my ex-boyfriend in a lady's outfit."

Sobs escaped out from Kongpob's mouth hearing Arthit's words. Kongpob's breathing started to become uneven. His body slowly began to shiver.

Kongpob started blaming himself for being not able to lock his emotions in him. He blamed himself for not able to control his emotions after he heard Arthit singing. He knew for whom Arthit had sung it for, but he didn't know Arthit had planned this all.

"Why Kongpob? Why did you leave me? We had such a beautiful relationship even though I messed up at times. I tried to work out on it, you always supported me. But suddenly you were against me. You started to hate. Why Kong? Why?" Arthit asked to Kongpob, his eyes filling with tears.

Kongpob still didn't turn to look at Arthit. He was afraid he would lose all his control if he sees Arthit's face.

"Why did you dress up like this? Why this show? Why are you trying to hide away from me if you have a happy life out there? You were the one who told me that you don't love me," Arthit's voice started to break. He stepped back knowing Kongpob won't answer his questions.

Arthit sighed.

"And who is Liane actually? You and your wife's child? You did very well in feeding her with lies about having a dead Dad! Or did you rent her for this drama?" Arthit asked in a mocking tone.

And that hit Kongpob on the right spot.

Kongpob turned around swiftly, his eyes bloodshot from crying. His makeup starting to drift away from his skin.

"Don't talk about Lia like that! She is my daughter! My only daughter! I won't give her to anyone! I beg you! Please don't come after me! Please! I hate you! And I live a very happy life! Don't bother me!"

Kongpob for the first time after years talked to Arthit straight on his face, his voice no more producing the artificiality, but in his real voice which always brought butterflies in Arthit's stomach.

Kongpob started to walk out of the room but Arthit caught his hands.

"You're not leaving me again! I want to know what do you mean by doing all these!" Arthit's voice was cold.

Kongpob looked into the elder's eyes and he felt as if his body turned into an ice block at the cold gaze the latter was giving him.

"Leave me, Mr.Arthit! I told you there is nothing in between us! You are the only person I hate in my whole life!" Kongpob shouted at the elder. He didn't want to break down infront of Arthit.

Arthit's grip on Kongpob's hand tightened as he heard the younger's words.

"How could you!? Was our love all fake to you!? Did you use me like a toy all these years?" Arthit asked as tears brimmed in his eyes.

Kongpob's eyes widened when he saw Arthit's tears. He felt miserable. He wanted to tell that what all he told was not true and everything of him was always about Arthit. But he couldn't.

"Get the fucking hell out of my life Arthit! I hate you! And I mean it! I fucking hate you!" Kongpob screamed.

Arthit's eyes burned with tears and anger.

Kongpob tried to release his hand from Arthit's grip but the latter was too strong. Kongpob felt his hand burning at how hard it was held.

"Leave my hand, you moron! Leave me alone!" Kongpob shouted.

Arthit didn't say anything, his anger was rising at each word Kongpob was speaking. Kongpob never used bad words and now he was using that to him.

Did he hate him that much? Arthit's heart started beating fast at the thought.

Kongpob cried as his wrist started to pain.

"Leave me Arthit!" Kongpob struggled.

Kongpob looked into Arthit's eyes which was clearly showing anger and pain.

Without thinking twice Kongpob raised his hand as he slapped right across Arthit's cheek.

Arthit's grip on Kongpob's hand loosened. With tears rolling down Kongpob's eyes he retrieved his hand from the hold.

Kongpob stormed out of the room leaving a stunned Arthit behind.

Arthit looked at the open door through which Kongpob walked out. He balanced himself on the wall. Sobs escaped his mouth as he slowly crawled up on the floor. His face buried in his legs, his body shaking as he cries. Grunts of loss and betrayal escaped his mouth.

Prem and Knott rushed to the room and gasped at their friend's sight.

"Arthit!"

They ran towards their friend and tried to help him but Arthit stopped them with his hand.

"Don't come near me!" He shouted.

Knott and Prem looked at each other.

Arthit stood up, wiping his tears as he glared at his friends.

"Arthit, your cheek...." Knott gasped when he saw finger mark on Arthit's pale cheek.

Arthit shook his head in anger.

"Tell me the truth! You both know that Krisia is Kongpob, right!? Tell me!" Arthit's question was answered with a silence that made Arthit scoff.

"Here I thought my friends were helping me! You were hiding everything from me! What is happening really!? Why is everything so confusing!?" Arthit questioned, pulling his hair back.

Knott and Prem remained silent. They didn't know how to explain everything to their friend.

"5 years before, Kongpob, the man I loved the most told that he doesn't love me! That our relationship was not working and he was not happy! And today he is hiding from me! Why? If he is happy with his life why does he have to hide from me disguising himself as a woman? Why?" Arthit screamed as he moved around the room like a mad man.

"There are things I don't know! Kongpob still loves me, Knott! I heard it from his own mouth! Why is he then acting in front of me!?"

Knott walked towards his friend and tried to make him relax.

"It is not my place to tell, Arthit. And I don't think there is any point hiding everything from you now. But first, we have to go back to your home. We can't let others hear about this."

Knott helped Arthit to walk with Prem tagging along with him. They soon got inside their car and drove to Arthit's house.

********

Arthit rang the bell, outside his house, waiting for the door to be opened as he glared at his four friends behind him.

Prem had called Bright and Tootah, informing them about the situation. On their way back to Arthit's house, they picked up Bright and Tootah from Bright's bar. Knott and Prem were sure they won't be able to handle Arthit alone. They themselves were devastated by the turn of events.

The door opened with a creaking sound as a woman in her 50's came in view. She had black eyes and long black hair, her skin was milky as her son. Her eyes showed surprise when she saw all the five members in front of her house.

"Oh, Oon! You said y...." before she could say anything, Arthit barged into the house without sparing a glance at his mother.

Arthit's friends exchanged a look before they bowed their heads in respect.

"Swadee kharp, aunty. Arthit is really in a bad mood. We have to talk with him. Can you please let us stay here for the night?" Tootah asked politely.

The woman smiled at them and nodded her head.

"Of course you can, dear. But what exactly happened to my son? Oon seems to be more depressed than the other days." Arthit's mother asked as she invited her son's friends inside.

"It's nothing, aunty. Just some office issues. We will sort it out." Prem said before he sighed heavily.

Arthit's mother looked at her son's friends suspiciously but soon heaved a sigh of distress.

"I don't know till when this will last. From the past few years, I lost my son. This is not my Arthit. Something happened to him that he is not yet able to share with me. I hope one day I will get my Oon back." She said as he glanced at the group of men before he walked away to her room.

Knott, Prem, Bright and Tootah looked at each other before they rushed upstairs to the room where Arthit was.

Bright opened the door to Arthit's room and found his friend sitting on his bed, caressing a small metal in his hands.

"Arthit..." Bright called softly.

Arthit didn't raise his head. He just kept on staring and caressing the metal in his hand, the merged gear that Arthit made for him and his ex-lover.

"Explain!" Arthit's voice was hard as he commanded. There sadness and helplessness that was buried in his voice.

Tootah walked towards his best friend and sat beside him.

"Arthit, I know you are disappointed by us for keeping the truth away from you. Arthit, we only get to know the truth just a week ago," Tootah started.

Arthit looked at Tootah, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"We were determined to find who Krisia really was after you had sought us for help, Arthit. We started to follow Krisia everywhere she had gone. One day when we were at the mall we saw Aim and Lia, buying ice cream. We thought that we could intrude on Krisia at her room since she was nowhere to be seen with Aim," Prem tried to explain further.

"When we knocked on Krisia's room, it was Kongpob who we saw in the place of Krisia. Your assumptions were right. Krisia had a connection with Kongpob, moreover, Kongpob himself was Krisia."

Arthit stood up from his bed as he heard the words from Prem. He walked to the window in his room and gazed at the starry night.

Sensing Arthit's silence, Knott continued further.

"We believed that Kongpob had made your life a hell. He was the main reason behind we lost our Arthit, your parents lost their Oon. Even after he chased you to love him, in the end, he broke up with you and stated that he didn't love you anymore. We blamed him for everything Arthit! But we were wrong," Knott said as he looked at the floor beneath him. Fidgeting with his fingers.

"What are you saying, Knott?" Arthit asked as he turned towards Knott.

"He is right, Arthit. We were wrong. Everything is much complicated than what we thought," Bright said to his friends.

Bright walked towards Arthit and patted on his shoulder.

"Arthit, we are not the ones who you should hear this from. Go to him. Go to Kongpob, Arthit. He had once chased you, now it's time for you to chase him and concur him as yours."

Arthit looked at his friend's eyes. His eyes still showing hesitation.

"One thing you should know Arthit. Kongpob never hated you Arthit. He broke up with you to save you, to save us."

A tear slide down Arthit's cheek as he heard Bright's words.

"It's impossible, Bright. I won't be able to bring him back to my life," Arthit let out a bitter chuckle as he wiped his tears.

The four friends looked at each other mirroring the same question on their faces.

"Why do you say that Arthit? If you love, Kongpob the same as before. If you want him in your life. Talk to him. Learn the truth behind his actions, Arthit. And make him sure that whatever problems he has to face you will be with him and you will never leave him." Knott said to his friend who only let out a small laugh.

"No, Knott. I can't do that. He has a family now, Knott. He himself told me that Liane is his child. I'm am not cruel enough to drag him out of the family he is living with now. He has a wife and a child, Knott."

Arthit let out a laugh, anyone could feel the pain and hurt in it.

Prem looked at his friends in silence after he heard Arthit's words. There was something in his eyes that made his other friends gasp.

"No, Prem. Don't you dare." Knott warned him in a low voice.

"No, Knott. I can't bear seeing Arthit like this. If he knows the truth, he will be more determined to get Kongpob back." Prem said and walked forward.

Tootah held Prem's hand before he walked to Arthit who had his head hung low.

"Prem, we promised Kongpob," Tootah said, his pleading him to not say anything to Arthit.

"No, Tootah. This is the only way we can make our two friends happy. We can't see them both suffer more. This is for both Arthit and Kongpob, Tootah." Prem slid down Tootah's hand from his and walked to his friend.

Arthit held the gear in his hand and looked at it with emotions filled in his eyes. Memories of loving promises and cute cuddles between him and his love flashed through his eyes. His breath choked him. He couldn't help but feel...His lips tightened, trying to control his emotions.

For him, the person who he called once his was no more his. That person was someone else's now. And this thought made Arthit's heartbreak into pieces.

"Arthit...." Prem called his friend softly.

Arthit raised his hand up, without lifting his head up.

"No need to tell me anything, Prem. I'm tired. Tired of knowing the truth. These many years I lived with vague thoughts about, Kong. But....but now, I know the truth, Prem." Arthit's life started to break, his voice was hard and it made his friends' heart clutch.

"You have to know this one thing, Arthit."

Arthit lifted his head to look at his friend. His eyes were bloodshot, there were no emotions present in them, there was no life that one could feel looking at his eyes. The stare he gave was cold, cold as if you could freeze in no time.

"I don't know if I am the right person to tell this. We had promised Kongpob that we will not tell this to you or any other person. But we can't handle seeing you like this Arthit." Prem sighed. He looked at his friends one more time before he turned towards Arthit.

"Liane is your daughter, Arthit. The child with your and Kongpob's blood."

Arthit gasped. His throat became dry. He tried to laugh at the statement but his sound cracked. He shook his head with a smile on his face which didn't reach his eyes.

"Stop telling nonsense, Prem! The last time I checked, Kongpob was a man. Don't fool me, Prem. This is not funny!" Arthit shouted in rage.

"Arthit, Prem is correct. You have to believe this." Knott assures Arthit, but his friend only shook his head in disagreement.

"I know you won't believe it, Arthit. We too were not able to believe this when we heard this news from Kongpob. But it's true. He is gifted, Arthit. Do you know? He was one week pregnant when he broke up with you, Arthit. Please believe us." Bright explained to his friend.

Arthit sat on his bed absurdly. His body stiffened at the news, his eyes looking straight at Bright's. There were many questions playing on his mind.

"H...He...He left me because of this?" Arthit managed to ask in his shock.

"No, there are more things you have to know. Arthit, go to Kongpob. Chase him until he believes in you again, Arthit. Chase him until he is ready to tell you the truth." Tootah said, trying to motivate Arthit to reach his love.

Arthit thought of his words he directed towards Kongpob about Liane when they were in the office room. He felt like hitting himself with a metal rod.

How could he do that? Arthit ran his hands through his hair in frustration.

Arthit didn't say anything. He just looked at his friends in silence. There were tears rolling down his eyes which he didn't bother to wipe away. He had no strength in him to do so.
