Crush

*Flashback*

Parker was sitting in her room listening to music when Dylan came in and sat on her bed. He took out one of her headphones and Parker was about to say something but then decided against it and just layed back down on the bed.

The two were staring at the ceiling watching the fan spin in circular motions. This song was one of Parker's favorites and was hoping it would soon be Dylan's favorite since she already got Heather hooked on it.

No words were playing yet which made the whole scene relaxing. Dylan was slightly bobbing his head up and down, slowly liking the song even though it just started. Soon Parker started humming the song causing Dylan to look at her. Now she was strumming an air guitar and saying. Soon Dylan even got into it having a liking to the song.

'Listen to me carefully' was the first thing Parker started to hum and soon it got louder and got off the bed, grabbed a brush and started putting on a mini concert that soon caught the attention of Heather. She called everyone saying that there was a concert going on and soon everyone came in.

Making her way in the room, Chase and Jasmine soon came in all making themselves comfortable on her bed. Heather and Dylan lay together while Jasmine and Chase were on opposite ends on the bed.

Parker grabbed a pink feather boa on her chair and wrapped it around her making the whole performance a bedroom performance to remember. Everyone was getting into the song now and it was getting to be Parker's favorite part of the song. Well one of her favorite parts anyway.

Moving her hand up and down with the boa and being dramatic was one of the reasons she liked putting on these bedroom concerts. Even the grandparents came in and watched Parker have the time of her life. Times like these were the best.

'There's no need to rush, it's only a crush' was what Parker sang in the hairbrush and soon Heather got up and grabbed whatever object was close by and started singing with her.

At some point Jasmine got up and pretended to play the guitar along with Dylan. Chase was playing the 'drums' with pencils and a pair of bongos that he found in Parker's room. Grandpa Joe and grandma Lucy ended up getting the bed all to themselves enjoying the performance these kids have put on for them.

During the summer, Joe and Lucy were lucky to have grandkids like this because the other three were their non-biological grandkids. The old couple was smiling and watching the kids have the time of their life and hoped it never ended.

The two sisters were taking the whole show since they were the only ones who knew the words and the tune so watching Dylan, Jasmine, and Chase try to figure it out was pretty funny to everyone. The singing soon started to fade since the two forgot the words to this one part but grandma Lucy came to the rescue and was singing the part they forgot causing them to smile at her.

Now that nobody was singing they all went on playing random instruments and getting a standing ovation from the two people who were watching

"Whoooo" Lucy yelled, clapping her hands and Joe was whistling and clapping his hands.

"That was great you guys. Maybe you should do one every Friday." Lucy said getting up from the bed along with grandpa Joe.

"Whelp, I think it's time we retire for the night, kids. Don't do anything stupid since I still didn't fully forgive you for the Chevy." Joe said.

"I said I'm sorry" Dylan complained causing grandpa Joe to roll his eyes and say good night to everyone.

*End of flashback*

The next morning, the group of eight was tidying up before starting their day. Woven blankets made of palm leaves go into a basket also made of the leaf.

"Hey where do these go so I can wash them?" Parker asked, holding up some palm leaves.

"Why the hell are you washing leaves Parker?" Heather asked

"The only way these are touching me is if I at least stick them in water to get rid of the mud." Parker said, still holding up the leaves.

"I can take you. I need to get some bananas and coconuts anyway." Josh replied, guiding Parker to the lake.

Parker's POV:

I kind of like it here and it's only been a day. It could have something to do with the guy I'm walking with right now but nobody needs to know that. There is just something about Josh that captivates me and his eyes oh my goodness don't get me started on those. I think it's his blond hair that shines in the light when he is at the perfect angle. OH maybe it's his eyes but either way I am captivated by this man. Sorry Chase.

I'm broken out of my daydreams by the only and only Joshua or Josh and not to brag or anything but he says I'm the only one who can call him Josh not even Jane can and they have known each other for ages.

"So how are you liking it here so far?" Josh said stopping since we reached the river allowing me to wash these filthy leaves before somehow making them into clothing in case and for plates, pillows, etc. you get the point.

"Oh yeah it's really nice here so far. I feel like I'm at a getaway without any technology, but I do wonder if my grandparents are alright." I stop what I'm doing and start to think about them. The more I think about them, the more I start to wonder how they are holding up. I'm once again broken out of my thoughts by Mr. Dreamboat crouching down next to me.

He places both hands on my shoulders causing me to look at him and I swear I get blinded by how beautiful this man is. I mean seriously, he's been stuck on an island all his life and has no pimples.

"They will be okay, trust me. We will find a way for you guys to get off this Island." he says reassuring me which puts me at ease a bit.

'You're pretty' is what I thought I said to myself but ended up saying it out loud causing me to mentally smack myself in the face. I hear him chuckle behind me and oh my goodness gracious I can listen to it all day.

"I'm aware and thanks for boosting my ego" he winks at me and I don't know how much more I can take before I say more things I will regret later. What I am about to say is going to sound super cliché but oh well I mean it when I say it feels like time stops and it's just the two of us.

Cue the song ladies and gents because that's what I get from the situation, but that's just me. I could be hallucinating but I'm pretty sure he got closer to me because now his nose is touching my nose. With one more I could do it, but I just met this man. Again, a lot has happened in the past 48 hours so this wouldn't be the weirdest thing I've done.

I catch him glancing down at my lips then back up to me and next thing I know, I'm doing something that could have been the best choice I have ever made.

I kissed him.

Josh's POV:

I'm so glad that these people ended up on the Island. Obviously they are stuck here now but if I would be stuck anywhere, it would be with Parker. There is just something about her that makes her stand out.

I can tell that her and Chase had some sort of past and it's only been a day but it won't stop me from trying. If they are dating (which I don't think they are) then I will back off, but if they arent dating then I am shooting my shot. Jane is the only girl I have ever known in my life so new people are always a good thing.

I decided to stop zoning out and start up a conversation with Parker. I wonder if my last name would have a good ring to it. Parker Till yeah I don't like it I can take her last name. Joshua Anderson. I like the ring of that. I wonder if we were to have kids and what they would look like.

God Josh you are getting ahead of yourself you barely know this woman but gosh she has invaded my mind like the plague and I'm not complaining. What was I doing again? OH RIGHT I was supposed to be asking her questions.

"So how are you liking it here so far?" I ask stopping to get some food to bring back since that was my job while Parker washes the palms. I steal glances at her once in a while when she isn't looking.

"Oh yeah it's really nice here so far. I feel like I'm at a getaway without any technology, but I do wonder if my grandparents are alright." I hear her say and her talking about how she misses her grandparents makes me feel upset for her.

Since I was done getting the food, I crouch down next to her and place my hands on her shoulders. God she's so pretty I could stare at her all day. I think it's her eyes and how they are such a nice shade of green, or it could be her hair. Either way I love everything about her.

"They will be okay, trust me. We will find a way for you guys to get off this Island." I say trying to reassure her since the only person I have reassured was Jane. James and Alex don't really show emotions that often so it's hard to know what they are thinking.

What I wasn't expecting was for her to say 'You're pretty' and hearing her say something like that did something to me. What do the girls call it? Making their heart flutter or something? I have no idea, but the only reason I know is because of Jane's mom. She brought all her notebooks on the Island with her documenting everything in her diary since we were staying on a boat if I remember correctly.

Thinking about my mom makes me feel the way Parker felt talking about her grandparents. I know we couldn't prevent her from dying but I do miss her. As much as I act like it doesn't affect me, it does. I try not to think about it for much longer and get back to the topic at hand.

"I'm aware and thanks for boosting my ego" I wink at her and I'm pretty sure I did something to her because she just stopped causing me to stop. This feels like one of these romance movies I watched before I came here with my older sister.

I don't know what possessed me to do it but I looked at her lips the same time she looked at mine. I don't think she realized that she did but next thing you know I kissed her and damn shes a good kisser.

Breakfast can wait.

*Back with everyone else*

"What in the world is taking them so long?" Chase said impatiently tapping his foot like a worried mother. To put it in simple terms, he wasn't fond of the idea of the two going out.

"Relax mama bear, they will be back soon." Jane said, patting his back and going over to a basket with some fruit leftover from last night.

"You know how Parker is with her exploring new places." Heather said going to grab some dried coconut. The six of them ate in pretty such silence unless starting a bit of small talk. What everyone did notice was the glances that Jasmine and Jane were giving each other.

Hearing footsteps, everyone turned to see a frizzled Parker and smiley Josh. Chase was glaring at the two as they were the only two people in the room. He took the stuff from Josh's arms and moved them to the basket then took Parker aside.

"What" Parker said crossing her arms

"What do you mean? You took like a million hours to wash some leaves and get fruit." Chase said.

"I was exploring" was the last thing she said before walking away and sitting down next to Josh. Chase scowls and angrily makes his way back but not before giving Josh a nasty glare that didn't seem to affect him one bit.

Josh leans down to whisper something in Parker's ear and she whispers something right back having the perfect angle of Chase and his expression. Parker blushes and goes back to eating the banana she was holding in her hand.

*Flashback to the river*

"We don't speak of this when we get back," Parker said, running her fingers through her hair. (a/n they didn't do it yall just a very intense smooch)

"I make no promises but okay" Josh said pulling Parker back in.

"I just can't get enough of you and it's only been a day" he says leaning in for another kiss.

Parker pulls away after a second. "As much as I love this, we should get back."

"Yeah probably" Josh sighed and collected his things in one arm, holding her hand in the other and making their way back. Of course they pulled their hands apart before they dont back to stop some of the questions.

*Present*

"Okay so basically you just want to find a flat surface or as flat as you can find and lay out a bunch horizontally and some vertically." Jane starts off teaching them how to make a hut out of the resources they have.

"Now you just want to do a simple weaving pattern and don't worry about the edges because we are going to do something with them in a minute." Jane said go around to make sure everything is right.

"Alright guys this is where it gets a little hard. You take one leaf making sure it's vertical and tie it the best you can to the end of the square you just made." She paused and asked the guys to go around and help.

Obviously Josh went to Parker, Alex went with Jasmine and Heather, Chase with James. Dylan had it down pat and didn't need help so he went on with Jane tying the leaves all around.

Once everyone was completed with that task, the rest was easy since there were now two people doing the job. There was a slight break to catch some dinner before it got too dark and you weren't able to see. Dylan offered to help Alex try and catch fish but failed and ended up scaring the fish away instead.

Finally the tents were finished just before the sun started setting and while dinner was cooking, Jane taught everyone how to make pillows and blankets. Yes they didn't do much but it was better than sleeping on the dirt that could seep through the hut.

Josh decided to be bold tonight and go into Parker's hut claiming he 'wanted to chat' knowing that's not what was going to happen.

"Don't be too loud, some of us are trying to actually sleep" Jasmine said yelling from her hut causing Parker to giggle.

"Oh you want us to be loud?" Josh said knowing that's not what she said.

"I found out what Heather almost did to Dylan's nuts and I will do the same to you so you better keep it down" James said.

"What did she almost do?" Josh whispered, laying down pulling Parker closer to him.

"It was because he broke grandpa Joe's truck" Parker said laughing quietly thinking back to that time.

"Tell me more about life before this. I want to know what it's like off this Island." Josh said, pulling Parker's head to his chest and rubbing her back.

"Well there was this one time that it was raining really hard. Me and Heather couldn't do anything because grandma and grandpa didn't want us going out. We said we were going on the porch to look at the rain and drink our tea. We did it for about five minutes then we took our bikes and rode to the nearest 7-11 and got slurpees. We hung out there for the rest of the day and then got scolded by grandma and grandpa for not telling them." Parker said, smiling at the memory of that day.

"That sounds fun. Can you tell me more stories? I think listening to your voice will help me sleep" Josh said, getting comfortable.

"Sure." Parker said and continued telling stories until he fell asleep.

She kissed his forehead and got closer to Josh because he pulled her in even more if that was possible. It was times like these they didn't take for granted because there was always so much chaos going on all the time.

From four kids being stuck here for different amounts of time, to a group of five who spend their whole summer together stuck on an Island with no way out. The only way out is up and with all the trees there would be no way of anyone seeing them anyways.

Plus think about what they said yesterday. Once you are in, there is no getting out.
