H A R R Y 🔫
Over the month of August, things seemed to get even better now. Everyone was healing, learning to love and live again. The support group sessions stopped when we all thought we didn't need it anymore. Everyone had a go at letting out their feelings, even me, although it was hard for me to talk about Scarlett to a group of people instead of just Jade or Damien. However, I managed, and it helped, immensely. It helped take a massive burden off my chest. Even though my heart felt like there was an empty hole when Scarlett passed away, it was soon filled again with true friends I never had before, but never to the top.
Niall was walking again; Raoul upgraded his prosthetic leg greatly so that the leg itself was somehow connected to Niall's nervous system. On the other hand, I learnt how to play the guitar pretty skillfully. Playing the guitar and singing sometimes helped me relax and distracted me from the pain I felt whenever I remembered Scarlett. It was something that substituted my boxing and fighting in Dragon's Cave, which were two things I did to numb the pain.
Louis, oddly enough, found love. With Liam. That's right, Liam turned gay. Louis had never spoke to Liam as much since Liam was always hanging out with people from the labs. But one day, when I decided to go on my weekly visit to the labs, I took Louis with me. They instantly clicked when they met. Now they both thank me, annoyingly enough, for being their matchmaker. Even though I always pulled faces whenever Louis would say something corny and cheesy to Liam, I was secretly happy for both of them.
Spencer, on the other hand, found love too! With Vicky. The two bonded immediately when Vicky came to visit Spencer while he was in the hospital. Spencer had been feeling down and frustrated lately due to his blindness, but Vicky was always there for him and encouraged him to be positive all the time. She always lifted his spirits up and for that I was ever so grateful. After the awkward incident I had with Vicky on that dance floor, I felt like I had to apologize for my sudden actions and wrong signals. To my relief she was very understanding about it and simply just laughed it off, saying that we should just forget about it and pretend it never happened.
Most of the people whom I knew suffered a lot from the death of Scarlett, had moved on, but me? I supposed I have moved on from my grieving depressive phase, but there were still times where I'd start crying out of now where just because I remembered Scarlett. Even though most of the pain was gone, the ache was still there sitting in my gut. There were always small reminders of her around the apartment, and in what people said during conversations.
Jade told me that the pain dulls with time, and that things will get better. But what I was most confused about was how can things get better when the reason the pain isn't as bad anymore, is because I've forgotten? Lately what's been on my mind was how afraid I was about forgetting Scarlett. Over the time, the memory of her presence has been fading from my mind. I suddenly forgot what it felt like to have her lips against mine, to have her warm body pressed against mine, and the sound of her laugh.
Little things like those had begun to escape my mind, everything physical, only the memories of us together rested in my mind permanently. In all honesty, if getting past the pain means forgetting Scarlett, then I choose to suffer my entire life. But unfortunately, that wasn't the way Scarlett would've wanted. I want what Scarlett would have wanted, and if she wanted me to move on and continue living my life as I did with her, then I shall. But I know for a fact that I will never find love again, because frankly I choose not to. Scarlett will be my one and only and that was a fact.
A sigh escaped my lips as I carefully placed the photo frame containing a baby picture of Scarlett and her father back into the cardboard box. I was doing some sort of spring cleaning, even though it wasn't spring, pulling out different storage boxes and clearing stuff out. I was reluctant to clean out the boxes that contained Scarlett's belongings, mainly because I didn't want to travel down memory lane again. But once I did the first box, the other ones weren't as bad.
I exhaled tiredly as I reached into the last box, fingers feeling around a book before picking it up. Scarlett's journal. My throat tightened at the sight of it, before I tossed it onto the bed behind my back and resumed cleaning out the box. The journal soon slipped out of my mind when I shut the box and lifted it up, grunting as I stretched my legs from my sitting position that I had been in an hour or so. Once I placed it back in its rightful place I returned to my room, my eyes landed on the journal that had landed open.
My breath hitched in my throat when my eyes examined the oil pastel drawing that covered it. Both pages were completely black, as if she colored in the dull ivory with a raven black color. As my fingertips touched the page on the right, I felt myself getting overwhelmed with emotions. In white, Scarlett had drawn two wispy figures kissing. The girl looked exactly like Scarlett, the man just like me. It was a simple drawing, yet the small details drawn in white made the whole thing look incredible.
Even though I really wanted to, I just knew it wasn't right of me to go through her journal without her permission. But I was just so curious. I was curious to see what other wonderful drawings of us or me she had in there, and also to see if she wrote about me. But I respected her privacy, even if she wasn't there. I sighed quietly, before closing the book and placing it on the bedside table as I was too lazy to put it back into the box.
Around 11 am I received a text from Jade just as I got out of the shower, informing me of an urgent meeting that Valkyrie needed to attend. I hurriedly slid my boxers up my thighs, going for basketball shorts and a black t-shirt, along with trainers as I was planning to do some boxing after the meeting. I met up with Damien along the way and we both headed to the conference room. As we stayed seated waiting for Vlad and Max to arrive, I began asking the people next to me what on earth was this urgent meeting about.
"You're all on time. Good," Vlad observed as he walked in with Max trailing behind him.
"What's the urgent news?" Jade immediately questioned, a hint of excitement flickering in her eyes.
Lately there hasn't been any trouble going around, except for the usual gangs having feuds and etc., nothing big like what we had with Black Arrow had been going on. All of us were somewhat hungry to get some action again. We were assassins after all, killing people wasn't something we all particularly liked doing, but after doing it for so long and then stopping, we kind of missed it. Yes, we were deranged.
Vlad didn't answer Jade's question, instead placing is palm onto the table, causing it to illuminate. The lights in the room dimmed as the blue color of the table brightened our faces. Vlad continued to tap on a few things, before opening a folder. The folder threw out different videos and pictures of what seemed confusing at first, but then began to become clearer to us all. The videos and picture floated around on the table, showcasing attacks on different buildings, a team of five people all wearing black from head to toe terrorizing individuals.
"Who are these people?" I questioned quietly, ignoring how a tense silence had settled upon us. "They're vicious," I observed, watching one person from the team fighting with another, attacking mercilessly before ending the other one's life.
"Omega," Vlad simply uttered, pointing to the Omega symbol that they all seemed to have on the side of their right arms.
"Who?" Seth furrowed his brows at the pictures.
"Omega, is a new Greek organization that has risen to power while we were way too focused on defeating Black Arrow in the past few months," Vlad began to explain. "Remember when we took down Black Arrow two months ago? Sent them back to their rightful place on the bottom of the list? Well, that person right there," Vlad said pointing at one of the people on the strange team.
The team consisted of five people, all dressed in black tight bodysuits with different weapons in hands. They all had a different symbol on their left shoulder, along with the Omega symbol on the right. The one Vlad pointed at had a symbol of what looked like a phoenix, on the left arm.
"It's a woman," I stated, noticing the feminine curve of her body.
"Yeah, well she took down Black Arrow's entire base in Bulgaria," Vlad told us, causing my jaw to drop.
"No way, there's like six floors with more than 10,000 people in there. That's not possible," I huffed, making Vlad shake his head in response.
"Cleared out the first three floors, bombed the rest of the base to ashes."
"The fuck," Damien breathed, eyes focusing on the female with the Phoenix symbol.
"Anyways, they're an organization of assassins just like us. But lately, they've been focusing on eliminating every other organization similar to us. They completely wipe out their opponents. We have to be prepared to take them down."
"They have one assassin team, called αήττητος (aí̱tti̱tos), which means invincible. Consists of five members," he carried on, hovering his hand over the table again to select pictures. "We don't know what they look like since they always have a mask over their heads to conceal their identity. They're addressed by their code names which are all Greek mythical creatures, as you can tell by the symbol on the side of their left arms," he explained before flicking through pictures of each member and explaining a few details of each.
"There's the Chimaera," Vlad said, stopping at a picture of an athletically built man, which was noticeably only through the shape of his body.
A video played him taking out dozens of people with just two Desert Eagle pistols along with extensive combat, which seemed of a higher level than what I have been trained for. The symbol of the Chimaera, only showcasing the lion, goat and snake was covered in silver, which stood out brightly against the ebony black color of his suit.
"Next up is the Scylla. A woman," Vlad stated, as I observed the image in front.
The slim woman was holding two katanas in her hands, the picture must've caught her in mid-action as she was jumping into the air, bringing her legs up with her katanas held up high. Her symbol of the Scylla was also silver and on the side of her left arm. I thought for a moment, wondering how the hell did we get these pictures before I remembered it was probably through God's Eye.
"Then, there's Hydra. A little shorter than Chimaera, but incredibly experienced in martial arts," Vlad explained as we all watched the video where Hydra himself portrayed these exceptional martial arts skills. He was like a tiny shaolin warrior. His Hydra symbol too, was silver.
"After that, we have Cerberus. He's pretty...big," Vlad, commented with his lips parted in shock when Cerberus was shown in a video, gripping a man by his head and bashing him against a wall powerfully.
"What the fuck is that? He's a giant! Like 6,4 or something!" Jade explained, jaw dropping when she saw the blood staining the wall from the man's face.
"Damn he's savage," I breathed in a mix of shock and awe when I saw more clips of him fighting. He was definitely more bulky and way taller than the other two men, his symbol of the three-headed dog, Cerberus, was silver too.
"Lastly, The Phoenix," Vlad moved on, swiping his hand in the air causing a different set of videos to slide onto the table before hovering up into the air.
The Phoenix was a woman. Her body was slim but athletically built, somewhat similar to Scarlett's body type. I watched with my lips parted as she used a bow and arrow to strike her victims down, jumping from hoods of cars and off roofs of buildings to shoot arrows into the skulls of individuals. The symbol of The Phoenix on her however, was gold, just like the Omega symbol on her right arm.
"Her symbol is a different color. Why?" I questioned out loud, eyes flickering to Vlad.
"Either she's the leader, or the most skilled one," Vlad shrugged lightly. "Hold on, from the information I've gathered, she has the highest number of kills out of the five in the last three months, that's probably why her symbol is gold."
"Jesus, these people are like super-assassins, and we're just assassins," Seth said with a frown.
"That's why we need to start intense training. Ford ordered that you all spend three sessions a week with The Masters. Also, Ford has commanded that you all are to be injected with Liam's best form of Adamantium," Vlad told us strictly, causing Damien and Jade to speak back.
"What the fuck? I'm sorry but when did we agree to the Adamantium thing?" Jade arched a brow at Vlad, her voice growing loud and angry.
"You never did, and we never asked. Ford's orders, or you're dead. You know the drill, Jade," Vlad spoke sharply, beady eyes challenging her to speak up further but she held herself back.
"What if they attack us soon? You said it after all, they're wiping out their opponents, and we are their opponents!" I exclaimed.
"They won't, not yet at least. We've spotted a pattern with the order of which organizations they're taking down. They're starting from the bottom of the hierarchy to the top, right now they're a little more than halfway through," Vlad told me, making me nod slightly.
There was some sort of board of directors called The Comet where they rank each assassin organization in the entire world based on certain standards such as highest amount of kills overall as an organization and etc. The Organization was currently at the top, and as Vlad mentioned that Omega was approaching us very quickly, it was only a couple more agencies before they reach us.
"Anyways, we've got God's Eye to keep an eye on them," I tried not to snicker at the unintended pun as Vlad continued to explain. "I've already assigned Niall and a bunch of other people to keep watch."
I was too wrapped up in my thoughts to listen to the rest of Vlad's instructions about schedules and etc. My gaze wondered to another one of the videos showcasing The Phoenix on it, fidgeting with the rings on my finger as I watched her carefully. She was fighting exceptionally well, it was like watching one of those action movies were the main character was practically slaying throughout the entire scene. I watched in curiosity as she hung her bow around her body and pulled a knife out.
My face contorted when she swiped her knife at her opponent deadly quick, slicing open the person's stomach before bringing her knife down onto the top of the woman's head. Blood spurted out and splattered against her mask, to which she simply dragged her hand on top of it and flicked her hand, spots of blood landing on the camera before the video ended.
A small sigh left my lips as I leaned back in my chair and furrowed my brows thoughtfully. I wasn't sure about my opinion on this whole situation. These assassins looked incredibly well trained and practically super-human. Valkyrie was seriously no match for whatever the hell they were called. However, I was positive we could get up to their standards, at least close to it. With enough intensive training and Liam's Adamantium I was sure we would be able to beat them, we just needed time.
