S C A R L E T T 💣

My eyes darted around the corner of the aisle, spotting the athletically built brunette I've been looking for all this time. He was holding a bottle in his hands, examining the label on the sides of it. I sucked in a breath, reminding myself that I just had to get him to follow me out of the back door where Damien and Harry would jump him.

I hated the fact that I felt guilty about using him like this. He was nothing but caring and loyal right from the moment we met. Our random hook ups meant nothing to me, but something to him, much to my displeasure. But he never acted on his feelings because he knew there would be no point in that; I didn't feel the same way for him. But I was using him to take down Omega, which wasn't a bad thing because Omega did what they did to me, to him. They locked his memories away, injected him with vibranium and turned him into a killing machine.

I decided to turn to the side and walk towards the back door, crossing the aisle he was standing in. My heeled boots thudded against the floor nosily in the empty shop, attracting Donovan's attention. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted Donovan's head snapping towards my direction, before he began moving. I walked faster, turning around another corner towards the back exit. Behind me, Donovan called out loudly.

   "Phoenix!"

Swinging the door open, I stepped out and to the side. A second later, he came out too, eyes frantically around as he stood a meter away from the open door. He spun around, leafy green eyes finally locking with mine as his lips parted in surprise.

"Phoe-" he began to say before Harry wrapped an arm around his neck, surprising him.

I stepped back as Donovan jammed his elbow into Harry's face, causing him to let out an animalistic grunt before he was released. Donovan spun around to charge at Harry, who was crouched down on the floor. But Harry caught him off-guard when he shot upwards, clenched fist soaring and striking Donovan right under his chin. Donovan's head snapped upwards, an audible crack was heard from the impact as he stumbled away and fell to the floor.

"Harry!" I exclaimed, studying Donovan for a second before moving to my dumb boyfriend who just cracked a knuckle. "You knew that would knock him out, and you would break your knuckles," I huffed, gently grasping Harry's injured hand and tugging it towards me to examine it.

"Sorry, couldn't help myself," Harry smirked cheekily, bright green eyes gazing at Donovan's unconscious body. I rolled my eyes, before turning my head to gaze around. "Where's Damien?"

"He needed to piss. I'll call and tell him to bring the car around," Harry told me. I nodded in response.

Damien soon appeared around the corner of the building, pulling up by our feet. We bounded Donovan with thick ropes and a blindfold, even though I knew that wouldn't stop him from escaping. But that solid uppercut Harry gave him was pretty intense and should have him out cold for a few hours. Damien and Harry wanted to throw him into the trunk, but I refused to let them do so, since Donovan was my friend after all and I didn't want to treat him like that.

~-~

"Do you remember the first time you offered to tend my injuries?" Harry asked as I ran warm water over his bruised knuckles, cradling them in my hands and turning them over.

"I do," I replied with a smile, reminiscing to that day I was so tempted by him while cleaning up his wounds and tending his knuckles. "You rejected me," I mumbled, remembering how I kissed him, pulled back, and tried again before he turned away.

"I was afraid you'd make my lip bleed again!" he defended himself playfully, staring at me with a cheeky grin while I rolled my eyes.

I was caught off guard when he lifted me up suddenly, large hands gripping my waist firmly and plopping me down on the counter top of the bathroom. His smile mirrored mine, his hand coming up to tuck a stray lock of hair behind my ear, before he ducked down to kiss my lips softly. I kissed him back, my lips molding over his gently as my hand cupped his jaw. He tugged back for a breath of air, exhaling against my lips as he rested his forehead against mine.

"If it makes you feel better, I wanted you to kiss me, both times," he whispered lowly, the corners of his lips curving upwards.

"No that doesn't make me feel better since you rejected me anyways."

"Scar," he whined at my words, making me chuckle a little before leaning in and pecking his lips, before pulling away completely to dry his hand with a clean towel. "It seems so long time ago." My head perked up at his words.

"Around a year ago to be exact," I hummed in reply.

"I was such a shit head," Harry mumbled lowly, clearly ashamed of his past self as he hung his head low. I pressed my lips together, bringing my hand up to cup his chin and push his head up to meet my gaze.

"You were one. You're not one anymore, and that's what matters Harry," I told him firmly, cradling his cheek as he still remained glum while he reminisced to the early stages of our relationship, especially when we weren't together.

"Even then, I didn't deserve you at all. I'm still surprised you stuck with me during that time," he muttered, while I chuckled.

"It's not like I could leave, I lived with you," I responded playfully, wiping the smirk off my face when he gazed at me with a grim expression. "Harry," I sighed. "I believed you could change. It was a gut feeling. I wasn't gonna give up on you."

"You're so selfless," he whispered, gazing at me with bright eyes as I shrugged. "Most people wouldn't go out of their way to better people like me."

"I'm not like most people. I'm too compassionate, I care too much."

"Being compassionate is a good thing," he retorted.

"Not all the time. My compassion got in the way of doing my actual job," I scoffed, making him swallow thickly.

"Do you still feel guilty when you kill?" he questioned me lowly, making me shake my head in response.

"No. I just feel numb when I do it now," I murmured lowly. "Feels like my humanity is slipping away sometimes."

"That is so not true," Harry immediately retorted, his dark brows pulling low over his gleaming eyes as he frowned at me. "I still see the same old Scarlett in you. The way you care for Sami, even Donovan too, reminds me of how compassionate the old you was and still are."

I parted my lips to speak in response but the doorbell rang loudly across the apartment. I shot Harry an apologetic look, leaning in to kiss his cheek before murmuring that I would be right back. I handed him the ice pack, telling him to use it on his injured hand to reduce the swelling and inflammation. I made my way towards the front door, swinging it open to come face to face with a pair of dark brown eyes.

"He's awake," Damien notified me with a grim expression, making me nod.

   "Where is he?"

"In The Room," he informed me. I told him I'd be there in a few minutes, before closing the door and searching for Harry. I found him icing his knuckles, sitting on the bed and hissing when he pressed too hard before he looked up and held gazes with me.

   "Who was it?" he questioned.

"Damien. He said Donovan is awake. I'm going to go talk to him now," I told him, grabbing my phone and sliding it into my pocket before turning to face him. "I'm going alone."

"No," Harry immediately said with a tight frown, making me sigh lightly to myself.

"Harry, we agreed to keep our relationship a secret from him," I reminded him as Harry scoffed.

"I know that. I'll still come. He won't be able to tell anyways," Harry shrugged, standing up from the bed. I pushed my palms against his chest, making him plop back down on the bed with a tight frown.

"It'll be too obvious. I know it," I told him firmly. "It has to be one on one, otherwise it won't work out." I gave him a pleading look, inwardly wondering to myself why on earth was he so adamant on coming with me.

"Fine," he grumbled finally, making me grin victoriously. "But I'll wait outside!"

"No, I want you to go to Sullivan and check that hand out," I told him strictly, making him grumble and whine.

"Scarlett! I've broken my knuckles like a billion times," Harry exaggerated, making me shake my head at him.

"I don't care, you are going to the infirmary or else I'll drag your ass there."

"I'd like to see you try," he smirked at me. I huffed, jutting out my lower lip and putting on my best pouty face, the one he couldn't resist. "Don't do that face," he turned away, only for me to move around him.

   "I'll give you a blowjob."

"Deal. You actually owe me two blowjobs because you didn't give me one after I sang that song for you," Harry pointed out as I chuckled.

   "Oops."

"I'm serious about them blowjobs Scarlett."

"I know I know," I waved him off, before cupping his cheeks and dragging his face down to peck his lips. "I'll see you in an hour or two."

"Take care baby," he mumbled against my lips, kissing them continuously when I tried to pull away. "Actually take Damien with you and make him stand outside."

"I will," I promised him with a smile, walking towards the front door as he followed me. "I love you Hypno."

He stopped in his tracks when he heard me use the nickname I gave him months ago. A silly grin appeared on his face, his teeth sinking into his bottom lip as he stared off into space for a second before his gaze returned to meet mine. He moved forwards to grab my face, kissing my lips firmly before pulling away with a smile.

"I haven't heard that nickname in ages," he whispered, beaming at the fact that I called him that. It was adorable.

"It just came to me all of a sudden," I laughed lightly, tilting my head to kiss the tip of his nose. "I'm gonna leave now, I'll be back soon."

"Okay," he nodded, pulling away to open the door. "I love you, Angel!" he called out loudly as I walked away.

~-~

"Phoenix?" Donovan's raspy voice filled my ears, tugging my out of my thoughts where I was reliving the memory of when Vlad tried to force me to kill someone for the first time.

"Donovan," I responded evenly, taking a seat on the chair that was situated in front of him.

His wide pale green eyes gazed deeply into mine, confusion swirling around in them along with a mixture of other emotions I couldn't decipher. I had asked Damien to check him and see if there was any sort of camera or microphone on him where if him and I were to talk, Viola could hear on the other end. Luckily there wasn't anything. Sami took his tracker out and messed around with it so that if Viola were to check up on Donovan, he'd be seen as still in the shops instead of at our base.

I was momentarily reminded of the kind way he treated me when we first met, which was something that meant a lot to me since the environment I was in felt foreign and harsh despite the fact that Viola lied to me about how I've been there my whole life.

"So I'm guessing all those videos sent to Viola weren't real," he began to speak, his tone difficult to decipher, as his face was just as expressionless. "Do you have any idea of how much it hurt me to see you getting beat up like that?"

My heart tightened in my chest at his words, my gaze immediately averting to my lap as I felt his seething gaze burn into me. I didn't understand how I could be so blind to how much he cared for me.

"I'm sorry Donovan," I spoke lowly, raising my head up to stare him straight in the eye. "I promise you they haven't hurt me in any way. I'm perfectly fine."

"Well that's a relief to hear," he breathed. "Now tell me, what's going on?"

"I don't even know where to start honestly," I muttered. "Firstly, I need to know if I can trust you," I gazed at him carefully while speaking, watching him narrow his eyes at me. He looked like he was almost offended that I didn't trust him as of now.

"Of course you can trust me, Scarlett," he began to say lowly. "I'm not sure of how to prove that to you, but there isn't really any reason why I would betray you. I hate Viola, and you know that. Plus, I care about you," he murmured slowly, his words making my heart tighten in my chest. "I wanna help if I can."

"Okay Donovan, but just so you know, if you betray us-"

"I won't," he retorted, narrowing his bright eyes feeling even more offended. Maybe I should just stop and believe him, but I couldn't. "Now, what do you need help with?"

"I need you to spy on Viola and give me all the details of what's her next move and etcetera," I explained briefly, watching him frown immediately.

"Before I make my decision, I want to know why you're helping these people," Donovan said, referring to The Organization as 'these people'.

"Because Donovan, I was part of this place in the past, before I was taken away from Omega six months ago," I said rather firmly, as if I was adamant on proving to him how much this meant to him, even though he already had an idea of that and was willing to do anything for me. "I never grew up with Omega, I was brought there to be turned into one of Viola's super-assassins. My name isn't even Phoenix, it's Scarlett! They did the same to you Donovan. Don't you resent them for what they did to you?"

"The thing is, Scarlett, unlike you, I didn't have a past lover tell me I was abducted and brainwashed," Donovan responded spitefully, making me raise my eyebrows.

"How did you know about that?"

"I saw you with that man during the ball that was held by The Comet. I saw you get away with him, and I would've stopped him, I would've stopped you from leaving me, and abandoning the mission and Omega all at once. But I didn't. I knew how much finding out about your past meant to you, plus even if that man was lying I knew you were strong and could take care of yourself," Donovan rambled a bit, his words surprising me a little. If he let me go without telling Viola that I went willingly, then this was definitely a sign that I could trust him.

"All along I thought that man lied to you and that The Organization held you as prisoner, beat you up and tortured you. But turns out that isn't true much to my relief."

"Look, I don't care as much about my past. But Viola is fucked up, I admit that, and I've always wanted to get out of that shithole anyways. So Scarlett, yes I will help you because Omega needs to be taken down and this means a lot to you," Donovan concluded his speech firmly, gazing at me with intense green eyes as I smiled gratefully at him.

"Thank you so much Donovan," I murmured lowly, watching his lips stretch out into a tiny smile.

"You're welcome," he said with a tight smile. "You can trust me."

"So, is Viola planning something right now? What's with the shopping trips?" I questioned with curiosity.

"Okay basically when you and Sami got taken away, Viola was livid. But she also felt useless. She told us she wanted to make clones of us, but needed Sami to operate the machine. His journal didn't have any instructions on how to maneuver things, nor were the other scientists willing to try working it out because they were too scared it'd break down. So, after like two weeks of laying low, Viola devised another plan."

"So far she didn't tell us what it is, she just started ordering different sorts of chemicals and etc," Donovan explained as I felt my brows furrow.

   "For bombs?"

"Yes. Sami's bombs. Viola is planning to bomb this place, but that's after we take you and Sami back," Donovan told me. "At least that's what I think so, she didn't specifically tell us, but it's obvious."

"What? When's that going to happen?"

"She hasn't confirmed the date for when the bombing will take place," he said, his words sinking into my brain as I pondered quietly. "She's gonna hide the bombs a day before in The Organization that's for sure, but how she's doing that I'm not sure. I think she's gonna get other people to do that and not the super-assassins."

   "Shit," I muttered lowly.

"I promise I'll keep you updated once I get more information. For now they're making the bombs. I don't think αήττητος is gonna be allowed in any part of this to be honest, maybe when it comes to abducting you and Sami but even then I don't think Viola wants to risk it."

"Right, thank you Donovan, for this," I nodded once he had nothing else to inform me about.

"You're welcome Scarlett. Now, please untie me, my arms are gonna fall off," he groaned lightly, wriggling around as I chuckled lightly and moved to remove the ropes.

Once I had set him free, he stood up, before engulfing me in a hug. Surprised, I widened my eyes, before relaxing a bit and circling my arms around his shoulders firmly. He spoke again in my ear, his words warming my heart up.

"I hope he makes you happy and treats you right," he murmured quietly, making me pull away to gaze at him.

"He does. I promise you he does Donovan," I told him softly with a smile, triggering his own one.

"Does he know...about you and I?" Donovoan spoke up hesitantly, gazing at me questioningly while I smiled sheepishly.

   "Yes."

"Shit, what if he kills me after I help you or-"

"He will do no such thing," I assured him with a laugh. "He already knocked you out so I think he's pretty satisfied with that," I chuckled, triggering Donovan's charming smile.

"He put up a good fight, I respect that," Donovan chuckled lightly.

"I have to go now, but thank you again, really, it means a lot to me that you're doing this."

"I know, that's the reason why I'm doing it," Donovan told me. "And I know it might be hard to trust me, but I promise you I'm not lying about anything and I'm more than willing to spy on Omega for you-" Donovan began to ramble anxiously before I cut him off.

"Hey, I trust you. You haven't given me a reason not to," I told him with a smile, which immediately triggered his.

I squeezed his bicep with my hand, before pulling away to exit the room. I told Damien outside that Donovan was willing to help, but just needed a run-down on what he's supposed to do now that he's our spy. My legs moved quickly, wanting nothing more than to return home and child out in Harry's arms, whom I hope was at home now instead of the hospital.

It took me almost ten minutes to reach our apartment, wincing at my lower region that was still aching from my intimate activities with Harry two days ago. I walked into the apartment using my spare key, noticing that the place was quiet and vacant-looking.

"Harry?" I called out, moving into the living room to look for him. But he wasn't there.

I moved quickly to the bedroom, sighing in relief when I found him sprawled across the mattress on his stomach in just his boxers, snoring lightly with his injured hand lying limply off the bed. A smile tugged at my lips at his sleeping state, moving to tug his body upwards and lay his head against the pillow. My body tensed when I felt his fingers wrap around my wrist all of a sudden, tugging me onto his body as I fell onto him with a yelp.

His arms immediately came up; eyes still screwed shut as he hugged me to his chest. My heart melted when he turned his head to the side and pressed a loving kiss to my cheek, before whispering to me.

"Hi baby," he whispered with a hint of a grin, nuzzling his nose against my cheek as I wriggled in his grasp.

"Mhmm Harry," I greeted him back, kissing the corner of his lips before I managed to break free from his grasp and sit up, straddling his waist.

In a split second, Harry's large hands grasped my hips tightly, flipping our bodies so I was on my back. His body pressed against mine tightly, slotting his hips between my parted thighs as he hugged me to him, propping his head against my chest and breathing through his nose deeply. He snuggled against me, trying to fall asleep again as I smiled at his adorableness, finding the contrast between how he was now and before, utterly crazy.

I too fell asleep soon enough, wishing that all I could do was just lay in bed with Harry all day, take naps, cook and chill out instead of living with this constant paranoia that Omega was going to attack. But I had a feeling that would happen soon enough, once we're done with this Omega problem.
