On a cold winter dawn, the night after a full moon, Remus Lupin was on a walk through Knockturn Alley, and he discovered a horrible sight. It was a child, who couldn't be more than eleven, sleeping next to some garbage cans behind one of the shops. A child should never be in Knockturn Alley because something bad is destined to happen. Why was Remus in Knockturn Alley, you might ask. He was (unfortunately) a werewolf, and this was the only place he considered safe for him to be, ironically. So, he approached the young child. Surprisingly, she was awake. 

"What are you doing in Knockturn Alley? What is your name?" he asked her. "Gia, and that's none of your business. How do I know you're not a psychopath or something?" the girl,Gemma, lied. "Trust me, I'm not. And your lying, what's your name?" Remus replied. "I'm not telling you. Or following you. Unless your related to the Potters, or something; they're legendary."she stated. "Not related,just one of their best friends." Remus said.

So, Gemma followed him. That was the beginning.
