Chapter 8: For Nearly 14 Years...

Seven years after completing their education Thomas and Juliette decided to marry at the ages of twenty five and twenty four. Scorpius was now twenty one and Astrid amd Rosie were heading into their final year. Draco was over the moon that his youngest, Cora, was heading into her first year of Hogwarts. This meant he would see her more than Astoria, his father and half-brother Hypernion. He found very disturbing that his baby half-brother was also his children's half-brother.

Draco still hadn't told Thomas that he was his father, and at this point he was wondering if he ever would. He was going to tell Thomas straight after leaving Hogwarts but the wounds still hadn't healed after losing Cormac.

Hermione now spent most of her days working to keep up the businesses that she and Cormac had spent so much time building. One day Thomas came to visit delivering a shocking message. Her eyes bulged. Hermione couldn't believe her ears.

"Say again." She told him.

"I want to find my birth father." He stated.

"Um. Ok. Can I ask what has sparked this sudden curiosity about your genetic father?" Hermione asked still in shock.

"I want to find my father because soon enough..., I'm going to be one..."

Hermione gaped.

"...Congratulations Grandmother!" He said half heartedly.

"Juliette's pregnant?" Hermione asked.

Thomas nodded.

A beam appeared on Hermione's face. "Oh my goodness!" She squealed, hugging her boy.

"Now I just want to find that good for nothing father of mine. I want an explanation." Thomas said in a demanding voice.

"He's not a good for nothing father!" Hermione spat.

Thomas couldn't believe she would defend him. "Mum have I once in my entire existence laid eyes on the man!?"

"Yes! You have actually and he's done a lot for you, for the both of us!" Hermione shrieked.

"Then who is he? Why hasn't he come forward to me before?"

"Trust me!" She stood up. "He suspected as soon as he laid eyes on you that you were his and from the second he found out you were his he's wanted nothing more than to tell you..... Your Dad and I made him agree that he'd wait until you left school," She paused. "But then when your Dad died, he...he couldn't break your heart twice so he decided to wait, but Thomas he loves you!" Hermione told him.

"What do you mean? "From the second he found out I was his?" Thomas asked, his eyes narrowing.

"Thomas. I hid you from him!" Hermione's voice cracked.

"Hid me?"

Hermione squeaked a confirmation.

"Then I want to meet him. Right here, right now!" Thomas demanded.

Hermione nodded silently. "Just don't get mad at him!" She pleaded.

Thomas thought about it. "I'll let him explain."

Hermione cast a patronus.

"He wants to know. Meet us in my office."

They waited in silence.

They heard a small pop. Thomas looked behind him, his eyes bulged.

"Draco?"

"Hello Thomas." Draco said his hands in his pockets.

Thomas was speechless. He couldn't believe it.

Draco sat down in the seat next to him. Hermione left the room.

They sat in silence for minutes.

"You?" Thomas asked shaking.

Draco nodded honestly.

"All this time?"

Draco nodded again.

"I've wanted to tell since that first day I held you back after potions. The day I figured out you were mine." Draco, his father said honestly.

Everything came clearer to Thomas, the looks, the talents, the flaws, the smirk. Scorpius, Astrid, Cora. It all fit into place.

"You're my Dad?" Thomas asked to make sure he wasn't dreaming.

"I am your father, but I'll never be your Dad. That was Cormac, and his shoes are far too big to fill." Draco explained.

"You never said anything. Not once?" Thomas asked shaking.

"It was better at the time for me just to remain your friend, I was afraid you'd resent me. Hate me. And actually I'm still afraid you will now..." Draco said slowly and honestly.

Thomas looked up at his older replica. "So you've been watching me from a distance? For nearly 14 years."

Draco nodded. "The 14 years that nearly killed me."

Thomas took a deep breath.

"When I found out about you, I was ecstatic to have another son, angry at Hermione, my parents, Astoria, everyone...but you." Draco admitted.
"From the time of the sorting I had my suspicions about a certain, 11 year old, blonde haired, Granger and it turned out my suspicions were correct." Draco chuckled slightly.

Thomas stayed silent, looking at the ground.

Draco huffed, his son had gotten his stubbornness. "Thomas I'd apologise but we both know I could never say how sorry I am enough!"

"Once would be enough." Thomas mumbled.

Draco was taken aback by how little his son was asking from him.

"I'm incredibly, tremendously and eternally sorry Thomas, for everything." Draco apologised.

"Last thing?" Thomas added.

Draco looked at him, he knew there was something else.

"You have to be there, calming me down in the waiting room..."

Draco gave him a puzzled look.

"...when my child is born." Thomas finished.

Draco gave a small happy laugh. "Juliette's pregnant?"

Thomas smiled gleefully.

After that Draco explained about he and Hermione had gotten together, he explained about his arranged marriage and how he never meant to break Hermione's heart, the year he had detectives all over Britain looking for her. He explained everything.

Thomas was more understanding after he'd heard Draco's side of the story and deep down he understood why Draco and his Mum could only be in the same room for a short period of time, it was because they still loved each other.

Draco started talking about the future baby Granger, Thomas couldn't help but feel excited.

"Celebratory drinks....son?" Draco asked ,getting to his feet.

"I think so.....father." Thomas replied standing up.

They apparated to The Leaky Cauldron. At the door Thomas paused and laughed.

"What?" Draco aske with a small smile on his face.

"So all those years that people talked about how Scorp and I could be brothers, we actually were?" Thomas asked.

Draco chuckled. "I was so scared one of you would make the connection, but yeah, you're brothers."

Thomas smirked. "Wicked."

Draco rolled his eyes.

"About to be a father and you still say 'wicked'!?" He muttered.

Thomas chuckled.
