The night air filled Chaewon's lungs as she scouted the city, looking for lonely and bare walls to fill with colour. She was wearing the same outfit as the night before. Only this time, the bag which she usually carried along was empty.
A decent convenience store sat a little distance from where Chaewon was. She was bored, she wanted to have some fun. With a smirk on her fache entered the convenience store, looking like a normal customer. The aisles were blocked from the cashier's view, perfect for Chaewon to carry out whatever she wanted to do.
"Now, what do I want?" Chaewon walked along the aisles stocked with food, drinks and basic necessities. She saw a cans of cola and other varieties of drinks. She slipped a can of cola, then a can of pepsi into her bag.
At the same time, she was looking out for the cashier, who looked like he rather die than working at the convenience store. He was busily tapping at his phone, unaware of the surroundings.
As she was focusing too much on the cashier, she didn't notice a girl in a blue hoodie observing her. The girl quietly looked at Chaewon loading can after can of drinks into her bag.
She walked towards the girl and said softly, "Stealing is wrong. A girl like you shouldn't be doing this." Chaewon was startled at the sudden voice, but acted calm. "I know what I'm doing, stranger. It's none of your business."
The girl in the blue hoodie didn't budge. "Put those drinks back." Chaewon looked at the girl. "Or what? You'll call the police? Go ahead, I'm not scared." The girl in the blue hoodie continued. "Either I'm calling the police or I'll pay for you. You don't have to pay me back."
Chaewon fought the urge to laugh at the girl's offer. "She actually thinks I have no money for pay for these." She thought again. "On the other hand, I could get these for free." Chaewon innocently replied, "You're too kind. Sure, be my guest to pay."
"Get your things and follow me to the cashier."
Chaewon took four cans of drinks and saw the girl grabbing a bags of chips. "Today's my lucky day." Chaewon thought as she follwed the girl to the cashier.
The boy at the cashier did his work slowly, like he was the one buying. He probably didn't care. "Buck up, boy. I ain't got all night." Chaewon snapped. The boy pursed his lips and told them the final amount. The girl in the blue hoodie gave him the cash and got back her change.
The duo came out of the store. Chaewon stuffed the cans into her bag. "Gee, thanks for paying stranger, but I could've paid for myself. I was just having a little thrill, you know?" The other girl held on to her chips. "Stealing isn't a thrill."
Chaewon shrugged. "I have nothing better to do." She caught the other girl staring at her. "What? Never seen a girl with orange hair before?"
The girl suddenly clapped loudly. "I knew it! I knew I saw you somewhere before." Chaewon's eyebrows furrowed. "What? On TV?"
"You were that girl who dropped out from high school a few months ago. The one that dropped out on purpose."
Chaewon put her fingers to her chin. "Ah, I see you were from my school. What's your name?" Chaewon pulled down her hoodie, her action copied by the other girl.
"Kim Minju."
