chapter nineteen
a person of interest

Josie had wondered how fast it would take things to fall apart, she didn't think it would be this fast. The girls had decided to tell them they knew. "It was loaded on Spencer's laptop but this time we saw who Alison was talking to, it was Ian. Ian and Alison were together the weekend before she went missing, Spencer called Hilton Head." Josie said, fiddling with her fingers under the table to hide her nervousness. "Were there other younger girls he was interested in?" The police officer asked Josie, Jennifer was next to her, since they couldn't question her without a parent. "Not that i know of," Josie answered,

The girls were now standing in the hallway of the police station with their parents, waiting for Spencer, since she was last and soon enough, the door opened and Spencer came out. "You'll be available for more questions?" the detective asked Veronica. "Of course. The girls have nothing to hide." Veronica said, gesturing to the girls, before the detective walked off and the parents walked over to Veronica and Spencer walked over to the girls.

"Pam just stepped out to call wayne." Ella informed Veronica. "Are they being charged with something–conspiracy to commit an honest mistake?" Ashley asked, before looking at the looks she was being given she sighed. "Sorry." she muttered. "Haven't they been through enough?" Jennifer asked as she crossed her arms over her chest. "The girls are free to go." Veronica said with a shrug. "I'm still trying to process this." Byron said as he shook his head. "It appears our daughters have been the victims of a cruel joke." Veronica said sadly.

"Whoever said the truth will set you free never met A." Aria said as she looked from her parents to her friend as they stood in the hallway of the police station. "Jesus." Emily said, making the girls look at her, confused. "It's from the bible. Jesus said it." Emily explained. "Well, then Aria's right. Because that bitch is going straight to hell." Hanna said, making Josie snort. "I wasn't completely honest in there." Spencer spoke up quietly, making the girls turn to her.

"I should have been but my mom was right next to me and the whole Wren thing, I couldn't bring myself to say I also hooked up with Ian." Spencer said, making Josie give her arm a gentle squeeze. "That has nothing to do with this." Josie assured. "I lied about it, too, Spence." Emily said, trying to assure her. "You know, sometimes, the truth does more harm than good." Hanna said to her.

"Who said that?" Spencer questioned making Hanna look down. "Alison." she answered. "Hey, Emily!" They heard, making them turn to see Garrett Reynolds walking towards us. "Garrett?" Emily questioned, confused. "You're a cop now?" Josie asked. "Look, guys. I'm sorry they're putting you through this." he said before someone came up to him. "Officer Reynolds." They heard, making them turn around to the detective who questioned them motioning for Garrett. "Probably wants a refill on his coffee and another jelly doughnut." Garrett said to them before walking away. "He looks good in a uniform." Hanna said, making Josie roll her eyes.

Spencer had met up with Josie and Hanna when she got to school. "I can't believe this is happening." Spencer muttered. "Do you want us to talk to them for you?" Josie offered with a smile. "No." Spencer mumbled as they met up with Emily. "Who?" Emily asked, confused. "Spencer's parents think she's nuts." Hanna replied bluntly. "Unstable." Spencer corrected. "And why should they believe me? You know, we have no proof. I'm the girl who cried wolf." Spencer said.

"Yeah, and the wolf is living in your backyard." Hanna retorted. "Right, which is why I need to get into room 214." Spencer replied, making Emily confused. "Spencer thinks Jenna has a room at the Edgewood Motor Court." Josie explained. "Did you say 214?" Emily asked.

"And I saw the bag that Ian gave her. It's in the room." Spencer told her. "Okay, I think we need to take a break from playing Charlie's Angels. I mean, I don't wanna spend another night with the Rosewood PD." Hanna said as Spencer saw Garrett walking in. "Hey!" Spencer called to him and chased after Garrett. "There goes Lucy Lu," Hanna says, making Josie laugh.

"Are you feeling better?" Josie asked as she sat a hot cup of tea on Richie's coffee table. "Yeah, it was just a small cold, thank god." he said as she sat down, next to him on his couch before he pressed play on the first scream movie. It had been awhile before they had watched something together, so she had decided she'd hangout with Richie today, to make herself feel normal again. "I missed this," Josie said as she lent into Richie's side and rested her head on his shoulder as he wrapped his arm around her.

"So did I, but it's fine. You've been reconnecting with the girls, which is great because I know how much you've missed them." Richie said, as he watched the opening scene of scream. "Yeah, I did," Josie muttered as she moved closer to him to get comfortable.

The next day Josie was in her room when her phone went off, making her reach over to her bedside table and check it.

Josie frowned as she jumped up and grabbed her jacket before leaving her house, making sure to lock it before walking to Spencers and when she got there, Hanna and Emily were already as the three of them watched two cops talk and soon enough Aria joined them as well. "What's going on in there? Did she send anything else?" Aria asked us. "Just the SOS." Josie said, shaking her head just as their phones rang.
