Chapter 1
The Isolde sisters knew they needed their luck's worth. Their father was terribly ill, but they did not have the money to afford the cure. "This is stupid," Lakshmi, the youngest of the three sisters, spat. "Why should doctors charge money for a sickness?" Lakshmi wore a gorgeous light yellow ball gown with a jaw-dropping statement necklace. Eesha, the middle sister, pinned Lakshmi's black hair in a bun.
"It's called society," Eesha tutted, tugging down her lavender-golden dress. It was adorned with butterflies, which was Eesha's favourite animal, but Kesariya argued that it was actually just a pretty bug. "Now, you better behave, Lakshmi."
"You wish."
"She's correct, the New Year's Calso Gala is also a charity event. We need to find a sponsor who will buy us the cure for Father." Kesariya, the oldest sister, herself wore a dark navy dress with tiny jewels and golden lace. None of the dresses were of the sisters, they had to borrow them from their mothers.
While the Isolde sisters had different mothers, the mothers did not want any contact with the girls. Getting them to lend the gowns was a difficult task in itself. Lakshmi huffed as Eesha tugged on her hair. "I just don't want all of Inizio to look at us like we're beggars."
Kesariya sighed. "We're poor. The city of Inizio already looks at us like we're dirt."
"We have to get the sponsor of Naveen Genesis," Eesha said as she helped Lakshmi slip on her lacy white gloves. "He's the host of the event and most of all, he's loaded with cash."
"Well," Kesariya glanced at the clock on the wall. "The event starts at 10:30 PM, we should get there early, girls."
