Hide stopped outside Ken's house. "So, you and him..."
Ken paused. "Yes. For now, anyway."
Hide had a blank face. "Look, I'd say I'm happy for you, but don't you avoid guys because of guys like him?"
"He isn't what he looks like" was all Ken said.
"Just..." Hide exhaled. "Let me know if he does anything you don't like and I'll beat him up." He smiled, but Ken wasn't looking at him.
"All right," Ken said, looking up before turning toward her aunt's house.
"Hold up a hot second," Hide said, going over to her. "Where's my hug goodnight?"
Ken hesitated before giving him a hug, letting her arms slowly squeeze him and take in the feeling of physical contact. With Hide, it was okay. He made her feel safe.
"You okay?" Hide asked softly.
Ken shook her head, pressing it against his chest. She closed her eyes, but she had already memorized the words on his shirt.
The image was the outline of a building, captioned with "The sarcasm foundation: like we need your support."
Ken squeezed him tighter as she started laughing quietly, finally pulling back and taking a deep breath.
"Better?" Hide asked, smiling gently.
She nodded. "I'm going to go inside now."
Hide nodded and watched her go in. He waited until he saw the light in her room go on, and  then he left.
