Chapter 3 : Arrived At The Heroic City
[Train Station, Date - 28 Feb 2026, 9:05 AM]
Early in the morning, the sun was spreading its rays, illuminating the station. There was a slight warmth in the air, and the snow was slowly melting.
Aarav and Dev's parents were standing with them at the station. They had come to see them off. Aarav said, "Yes, Mom, I've packed all my important things." Dev was using his phone.
She looked towards Dev and said, "And you, Dev?"
Dev replied, "I'm not a little kid anymore who would forget to pack his stuff, Mom."
Aarav was wearing a light blue hoodie with a white t-shirt underneath. Dev was wearing a black and white jacket with a black cap on his head.
Their dad, while checking his phone, said, "I've sent your applications to your phone. Remember to log in, okay?"
Aarav said, "Yes, Dad."
Just then, the train's horn sounded.
Dev picked up his bag and said, "Bye mom and dad." As he boarded the train, their dad said, "Be careful on your way." Dev casually replied, "Okay, dad," and disappeared into his coach.
Aarav also picked up his luggage and said, "Alright, I'll also head out." He boarded the train as the second horn blew, and the doors shut. The train started moving. After a short distance, their dad said, "Let's go home," and mom says to herself, "I know you both will do it."
[Train Coach Scene]
Aarav was looking for his room on the train and soon found it: Room No. 6. His brother's room was right next to his. As Aarav climbed the stairs, he glanced to his right and noticed that Dev's door was open. Dev was placing his luggage in the room. When Dev saw Aarav, Aarav quickly turned his head to the left.
He heard the sound of the gate closing, and when Aarav turned back to the right, Dev had closed his door. Aarav made an awkward face, thinking, "What is his problem after all?"
He entered his room and placed one of his bags under the table (his suitcase) and put the other on the shelf above his bed. He also neatly arranged his bed sheets, making sure everything was set up properly.
Aarav said, "Okay, everything is set up... but I need to go to the washroom."
[Dev's Room]
Dev was lying on his bed, scrolling through his phone. Suddenly, he heard the sound of a door opening and closing. He ignored it, plugged in his earbuds, and started listening to music.
[Train Washroom Scene]
Aarav was searching for the washroom. The train stopped at a station, and Aarav found a conductor. Aarav asked, "Excuse me, which coach is the washroom in?"
The conductor replied, "It's ahead, in Coach No. 3."
Aarav thanked him, "Thank you," and went to Coach 3, where he found the washroom. He entered to freshen up.
After flushing, Aarav washed his hands. As the train's horn blew, he finished up and started heading back to his room. The train began moving again. As Aarav passed through the coaches, a person suddenly appeared in front of him, carrying a large amount of luggage; the person's face was not even visible.
The person yelled, "Please get out of the way!"
Aarav quickly stepped onto someone else's stairs, narrowly avoiding a collision. As the person disappeared, Aarav thought to himself, "Where is he going with so much luggage?"
[Aarav's Room]
Aarav returned to his room and lay down on his bed. He muttered, "Ugh, what should I do now? There are still 12 hours left in the journey."
Staring at the ceiling, he thought, "The Heroic City, hmm..." He pulled out his phone and searched for information about the city. Initially, nothing relevant came up, but eventually, he found an article about powers awakening.
Aarav read the name, "The Awakened Ones."
[The Article: The Awakened Ones]
During the golden era of King __, everyone began awakening to powers. These powers could infuse energy into any object, enhancing its durability and altering its weight. Those with immense energy could even lift boulders with their bare hands. Because of these abilities, the world progressed rapidly. However, no one's powers compared to those of the King. His abilities were unparalleled, and they could be used in conjunction with his physical body.
One day, a man arrived in the city whose power allowed him to control the wind. He could summon storms and rain at will. The King invited him to become his general, and the man gladly accepted. Over time, more people with unique powers began to appear, and these special abilities were soon recognized as Special Awaken Powers. Today, only 20% of the world's population possesses them.
[Aarav's Room, Train]
Aarav lowered his phone onto his chest and gazed out the window, whispering, "Only 20%..."
[Time Lapse]
Aarav watched a movie on his bed, got up to have lunch while jotting down notes, did some push-ups, listened to music, and tried unsuccessfully to use his powers. In the end, he fell asleep.
An announcement rang out: "Ladies and gentlemen..." Aarav woke up, rubbing his eyes, "What is happening?" He looked out the window.
"Thank you for traveling with us. Here comes our last stop, The Heroic City." Aarav's eyes sparkled as he saw the city. "What a big and beautiful city..."
[Train Station, The Heroic City]
The train stopped. Aarav was gathering his belongings, and the door to his compartment was open. As he hung his bag over his shoulder, Dev emerged from his room with his own luggage. He shut his door and walked ahead without saying a word.
Aarav grabbed his suitcase and stepped off the train. Suddenly, someone called out, "You have become so fat, have you forgotten me?"
Aarav looked ahead and saw his uncle embracing Dev tightly. Dev, struggling, said, "Let go of me, I can't breathe!"
Aarav thought to himself, "Good thing I didn't get off first..." Noticing Aarav, the uncle exclaimed, "Oh, Aarav!" He then pulled Aarav into a tight hug, saying, "You have grown so much."
Aarav, barely able to breathe, said, "Uncle, please hug me gently."
Uncle replied, "How long has it been since we met like this, right?"
Dev, annoyed, muttered, "What a headache..."
[Car Ride]
In the car, Uncle was driving, Aarav sat in the front seat, and Dev was in the back. The car looked completely new, and it was a sports car. Aarav asked, "Uncle, did you get a new car?"
Uncle replied, "Yeah, I got this car just a month ago. The old car broke down, so I had to get a new one. Isn't it nice?"
Aarav said, "It's a really nice car." happily.
Uncle asked Dev, "What do you think of it?"
Dev, disinterested, replied, "It's okay."
Uncle commented, "Why are you always so boring? You should be excited sometimes."
Dev responded, "Give me a reason to be excited."
Uncle laughed, "You know, it's been 10 years since I last saw you both. When you were 6 years old, you were such mischievous kids. I used to take you out, and you would insist on cotton candy. Those were some great days..." [continues talking].
Aarav gave a weird reaction, thinking, "Uncle just keeps going on; he doesn't seem to want to stop..."
Dev sighed, "Look, it's started."
They finally reached the house. When they entered the house a old man was standing there welcoming them, uncle introduced him, his name was uncle Rajesh, they call him uncle because he is 64 years old, he is the caretaker of this house. Then, Uncle showed them their rooms on the first floor. Dev took the last room, and Aarav took the one next to it. Uncle checked the clock on the wall and said, "Come on, let's eat something first; it's dinner time." He called the house manager to prepare dinner. Rajesh uncle: "okay, sir, the dinner will be ready in 5 minutes."
Dev said he was going to sleep and refused to eat, saying, "I'm not hungry," and left.
Aarav and Uncle went to have dinner. The manager placed all the dishes on the table. The table was filled with delicious dishes, and Aarav was starving. Throughout dinner, Uncle kept reminiscing about Aarav's childhood, telling old stories. Aarav thought to himself with a weird reaction, "Not again..."
[Aarav's Room, Next Morning]
"In the morning, the sun was shining, and the birds were singing, making the place very relaxed." Aarav woke up to the sound of his phone buzzing. He rubbed his eyes and picked it up, noticing a notification from his dad. He unlocked the screen and read the message: "Did you reach safely? "There wasn't any trouble, was there?"
Relieved, Aarav typed back, "Yes, dad, we met uncle last night. We're currently at his house."
After sending the message, he scrolled up to see if there was anything else. Suddenly, he came across another message from his dad reminding him about his application. Aarav remembered that he had completely forgotten about it.
He quickly logged into the website using the link his dad had sent. As the page loaded, it finally displayed his exam date: March 2, 2026.
Aarav blinked, still trying to shake off the sleepiness. He stared at the screen, "So, the exam is tomorrow..."
"Huh, whattttttt!" he screamed.
