~ A Wandering Witch ~

Lying awake in Tango's arms, the redhead stared anxiously at the stars that broke through the leaves above him. He'd been told that Cleo had stormed off after talking with Tango about saving Zloy, but he still worried over when she'd be back.

Sighing, he untangled the devil hybrid's arms from around his waist and stood up, shuddering at the sudden temperature change. Maybe he just seemed to stretch his legs and get some fresh air.

Python was about to move from the half-destroyed pirate ship he called home, when he heard a small giggle and a shuffle. Whipping around to face the noise, he bared his fangs threateningly.

The air fell silent once more, only raising his suspicions, and he quickly transformed into a small snake and slithered out from under the crumbling wood. Quiet whispering broke the silence and Python darted towards them, weaving through the trees and bushes that littered the area.

Coming up to where the shuffling noise was, Python could now make out a figures. It was the boy with blonde hair who had tried to light up the tunnels. Python could now make out his vibrant purple eyes as they stared right at him. He yelped in surprise and stumbled backwards, tripping over a tree root and tumbling to the ground.

"Ah! Sorry!" Python yelped, transforming back into a human. "I thought you were someone else!"

"Who else were you expecting?" Zed snapped, stumbling to his feet and brushing off his coat.

Python shifted awkwardly. "Just... no one alright? Anyways, why're you out here?" he asked, quickly changing the subject. "You're definitely not supposed to be here, judging by the fact I think human uh, children? Are supposed to stay with an adult."

"I'm not a child!" Zed retorted, pouting. "I'm 16! A teenager!"

Python looked at him strangely. "What's a teenager?" he asked, eyes wide with curiosity. "Is that the human way of saying adult?"

Zed stared back strangely, raising an eyebrow. "You seriously don't know what a teenager is? Geez hybrids really are different from us," he muttered under his breath.

"We're not that different!" the snake hybrid retorted, crossing his arms. "Besides we-" He stopped mid-sentence, realizing how off-track their conservation had become. "You didn't answer my question! Why're you here?"

"Uhhh, made a wrong turn?" the blonde replied, smiling awkwardly.

"Made a wrong turn by coming back down into the tunnels again and deep into hybrid territory in the middle of the night?" This time it was Python's turn to raise an eyebrow skeptically.

"Would you believe me if I said yes?"

"Not at all."

Zed's shoulders sagged in defeat, sighing. "Want the full story?" Python nodded, leaning against a nearby tree. "Well I got kinda curious about what the hybrid lands look like! From what I can see over the walls, it looks like there's a lot of trees! More than we have anyways which isn't very many." Faint purple sparks circled his hands excitedly, casting a weak lavender glow on the greenery around him.

"You shouldn't have wandered so far, witch."

The two yelped in surprise, making Python fall off the tree he was leaning on and Zed hit his head on a branch after stumbling over his own feet.

"Oh, sorry you two," the voice said, a squelching noise following it. A figure suddenly materialized in front of them, translucent blue slime reflecting the dim moonlight as he brushed dirt from his snow-white hoodie.

"Who're you?!" Zed and Python exclaimed at the same time, staring with wide eyes at the hybrid. Zed looked at Python confusedly. "You don't know who he is?!"

"No!" Python snapped back. "Why would I know who he is?!'

"Because you're a hybrid!"

"I don't know every hybrid in the forest!"

"Alright alright, calm down," the teen sighed, stepping between the two. "Listen purple-eyes, not all hybrids know each other. Besides, do you know every witch in the witch lands?"

Zed rolled his eyes. "I have a name you know," he muttered.

"And snake-boy," he continued, turning to Python. "Don't be so harsh on him. It's not his fault the lands are so divided they don't much of each other's culture."

Python pouted, crossing his arms and seemingly unbothered by the scolding. "What would you know-" A sneeze interrupted him, shaking his body as a chill ran down his spine.

"You're cold?" Zed asked, confusion flashing in his eyes. "It's hardly even chilly. I'm not even wearing a jacket!" He gestured to the dark purple long sleeve over his arms and dark gray, yellow star covered pants he was wearing. "These are literally pajamas!"

"It's not my fault for being cold blooded!" Python retorted.

The mysterious teenager sighed again, shaking his head in disappointment. "You should go back to your witch lands," he suggested, already starting to push him away. "I'll help you get there. Snake-boy, you go back to wherever you live."

Python glared at him for a moment before whipping around on his heels and storming off with a huff, clearly in a bad mood. "You're lucky I didn't kill you!" he yelled over his shoulder, glancing back one last time to snarl at Zed angrily.

Zed smirked as though he'd won and the teen rolled his eyes. "Stay near me alright," he muttered, grabbing Zed's wrist.

The blonde yanked it away and glared up at him. "I can see just fine," he snapped, summoning a purple glow in his hand that illuminated the area.

"That's gonna attract too much attention." The teen quickly smothered the light and grabbed his hand again. "I can see in the dark so just stay near me alright? Don't want you to get killed."

"How kind," Zed spat.

"The death of a young witch will bring too much attraction to hybrid lands," Jevin explained matter-of-factly. "Also, I can appreciate your fire. Not many would try to stand up to a hybrid, especially when it's the middle of the night in hybrid land."

Zed was quiet for a moment before speaking, his voice calmer and even a bit flustered. "W-what's your name?" he asked, smiling in an attempt to seem a bit friendlier. "I'm Zed, short for Zedaph."

The teen stared at him for a moment then looked away. "It's... it's not important."
