ERIN LISTENED CAREFULLY AS BEETEE EXPLAINED his plan to them. It was amazing how this one man had so much knowledge like his brain was his own well stored libary.

Where do the Careers feel safest? The jungle?" Beetee questioned, fixing his glasses and pushing them up on the bridge of his nose as he looked at all the tributes individually to make sure everyone was listening.

"The jungle's a nightmare." Johanna answered him.

Erin felt Finnick's hand slide into her own and she gave his hand a assuring squeeze as she listen closely to what Beetee tried to tell them.

"Probably here on the beach," Peeta said, who sat across from Katniss with his machete.

"Then why are they not here?" Beetee asked, trying to get an answer out of them

"Because we are, we claimed it," Erin spoke up, pairs of eyes drifting over to her.

"And if we left, they would come." Beetee spoke like a he wanted them to figure out what he was talking abou.

"Or stay hidden in the tree line," Finnick said from beside her.

"Which in just over four hours will be soaked with water from the ten o'clock wave." Beetee concluded, dismissing Finnick idea. "And what happens at midnight?" He turned to look at Katniss who had yet to say something.

"Lightning strikes that tree," Katniss was staring at Beetee with calculated eyes, like staring at him would give away all the answers she needed. Like all mysteries would be solved.

"Here's what I propose," Beetee started. "We leave the beach at dusk, we head to the lightning tree. That should draw them back to the beach. Prior to midnight, we then run this wire from the tree to the water. Anyone in the water, or on the damp sand, will be electrocuted." Beetee grabbed a handful of sand before letting it slip through his fingers.

"How do we know the wire's not gonna burn up?" Johanna asked, raising an eyebrow at him not fully conviced by Beetee's master plan.

"Because I invented it. I assure you, it won't burn up." He smiled, looking at Johanna.

Erin was sure this was how Beetee had won his games. By playing smart and waiting for the right opportunity. To use something most tributes forgot the moment they entered the arena. The mind could be a mighty weapon if you knew how to use it.

"Well, it's better than hunting them down," Johanna said.

"Yeah, why not?" Katniss shrugged. "If it fails, no harm done anyway, right?"

"Alright, I say we try it." Peeta agreed.

Erin looked over to Finnick. "We're in"

Finnick turned his attention over to Beetee, a glimmer of hope in his eyes. "So what can we do to help?"

"Keep me alive for the next six hours. That would be extremely helpful."

The sun was lowering, and Erin found herself sitting at the edge of the water gazing up towards the sky. This could very well be her last night in the arena. Colors of dark purple and light orange blended together beautifully in the sky and even if the gamemakers create this sight, for once she didn't mind their creation. It gave her a calming feeling like back in district four where she would watch the sunset with Finnick and her brother.

Her brother. She wasn't only scared for her live anymore but Alex' too. They are each others rocks. The one thing that kept them grounded for such a long time. She didn't know what so would do if she lost him and she was not sure what he would do if he lost her.

They always were so close growing up and after their father's accident on one of the fisher's boats they almost weren't found apart anymore. Their band was something special, something unbreakable.

But not invincible, because there was one thing that could sepparate them forever and that was death.

She just hoped it would be of old age and not this horrible games to do so. She held onto hope. She firmly believed Katniss would lead the rebellion and free the districts from president Snow and give all the people a live they deserved. One of freedom and happiness with the people they loved.

Her gaze then settled on Finnick standing a couple feet away from her in the water. Practising with his trident, swinging it around and over his head.

Carefully she stood up and walked over towards Finnick, the feeling of waves clashing agains her left made her feel relaxed even tough not so many days ago they almost swallowed her and made an end to her life.

"Finnick?"

The blonde tribute halted his actions and lowered his weapon of choice to look at the girl standing behind him.

The beautiful girl he had fallen in love with without noticing it. The girl that kept him grounded when he returned from his own games. To sooth him when he had nightmares or just let him ramble when he needed to get things off his chest.

She'd always been there for him and back then he didn't know it but he knew it now. He was utterly in love with the girl he grew up with.

"I love you." He whispered as Erin came closer.

Erin looked up at him with wide eyes at his sudden confession, only to be met with Finnick's sincere eyes full of adoration.

She gently smiled at him before speaking up. "I love you too." She said before embracing Finnick in a tight hug. The smell of salt water felt like home to her.

Looking up she faced Finnick, their faces inches apart and she quickly closed the gape between them and pressed her lips softly against his.

When they pulled away again Finnick pressed his forhead against Erin's staring at her eyes with such adoration she couldn't help but blush, but she gave him a bright smile nontheless. Because this could be the last day either one of them would live.

"Forever?" She whispered.

"Forever."
