T E N:
a game of intelligent
It was a matter of life and death. The situation was something that she couldn't mess up. Bibiana took a deep breath as she looked at every possible move. Her eyes landed on a spot that could either help her or kill her.
"D3," Bibiana announced, loudly.
Barry ran from playing ping pong with Cisco and over to Bibiana. He took a look at the white and red pegs on his side of the board.
"You hit me. E6," Barry said before he ran over to Cisco.
Bibiana let out a curse as she grabbed a little red peg and put it on one of her boats. Battleship could kill her.
"I think you're cheating," Bibiana commented.
There was a laugh from somewhere in the room. She didn't look up before he was running from one spot to another.
"This isn't remotely anatomically correct," Caitlin said while playing Operations.
"That's not the point, Dr. Snow," Barry replied, running over to Caitlin. Bibiana looked at her side of the board and wondered if she could take a peek at Barry's. "Don't think about it Bibiana."
"Dang it," Bibiana mumbled. She picked up a white peg and placed it where she was about to take aim. "F3."
Barry ran over to her and took a quick look. She had hit the ship that could help her win.
"You hit me," Barry told her while running away. "G6."
"Take that, Allen," Bibiana commented with pride. She still had a few more hits to go before Barry hit her battleship.
"Then what is the point?" Caitlin asked.
"To have fun," Barry answered while playing ping pong with Cisco. Bibiana placed the peg on one of her carriers.
"Hit," Bibiana muttered. She looked at her board again. She wanted to win, it was one of her weaknesses.
"And to continue your ongoing training," Dr. Wells said. "We're testing the speed of your mind by pushing your ability to multitask."
Barry ran over to Dr. Wells, then back to Cisco. Then back to Dr. Wells. Bibiana bit her lip while she decided that she had a fourth chance of getting the right spot at the first chance.
"I'm waiting for you, Dr. Wells," Barry said. Bibiana finally decided.
"E3," Bibiana announced, placing a peg on her board. Barry ran over to her and placed a red peg.
"I've been hit," Barry said. He ran over to Cisco before he ran back to Bibiana.
"H6," Barry said, running back to Cisco.
Bibiana let out another curse as another one of her ships were gone. Her only one left was half of her battleship. An idea popped into her head. She was around to flip over the board for the third time when Barry ran over and moved the table away by a couple of inches.
"Oh haha, Allen," Bibiana said, setting down her hand.
"Checkmate," Dr. Wells said. Barry ran over to him. Bibiana crossed her arms over her chest. She had to think how to beat Barry without cheating.
"Wait, checkmate?" Barry asked.
"Checkmate," Dr. Wells confirmed. "I guess you still have a few things left to learn, don't we, Mr. Allen?"
"G3," Bibiana said. Barry ran over to Bibiana and set his final red peg before he ran back.
"You sunk my battleship," Bibiana let out a cheer as she grabbed her phone and cleared her board. Then a beeping noise went off.
"Armed robbery at Fourth and Kolins," Cisco said. Bibiana stopped what she was doing and rushed over to her computer.
"For the record, I crushed it in Operation and Ping-Pong," Barry said.
"But I'll remain the Battleship queen," Bibiana said, as Barry ran out.
Her stapler was still on top of her stack of papers. The girl needed to remember to buy a paperweight. Caitlin made a buzzing noise by touching the wrong thing.
"It's not as easy as it looks," Caitlin said. Bibiana let out a laugh.
"I have questions to ask after this," Bibiana said, as everyone gathered around the main table. Where Bibiana was looking at Barry's vitals.
"Where's the nearest hospital?" Barry asked.
"St. Andrews. Seven blocks north, two east," Caitlin answered.
"Call the ER, tell them they have an incoming GSW," Barry said over the speaker. Bibiana immediately dialed the ER.
"Hello, yes. You'll have a GSW coming in soon," Bibiana informed them. "No, I do not know the condition. I was just asked to call. It's a freaking gunshot wound! I would think it's bad. No, I'm not with them. They are just taking someone over there who's been hurt! I don't this person! I just know that they've been shot and need medical attention! What? A person magically appeared at the hospital? Must be fucking Harry Potter. Just save their life and stop arguing with me."
She hung up and turned to her friends with a frustrated look.
"Never again am I calling the hospital," Bibiana said. She proceeds to tell them about how her hair changed colors.
"What you are saying should be impossible," Caitlin said, walking over the lab while checking Bibiana.
"I can basically control electricity and make things by coming up with a realistic code," Bibiana reminded her. "I'm pretty sure my hair can turn a shade darker."
"She has a point," Cisco said. Bibiana looked down at her phone and saw a text from Felicity. She was in town.
"How about what the Mist can do?" Bibiana asked while replying to Felicity. "Can I do the same with my electricity?"
"We'll have to put a lot of practice and test," Dr. Wells answered. Bibiana looked up at her phone and nodded.
"I understand," Bibiana replied. Dr. Wells rolled out of the room before Cisco and Caitlin turned to face the girl.
"Why didn't you tell us about your brothers or your parents?" Cisco asked first. Bibiana almost forgot about the dinner with her parents.
"We all have secrets," Bibiana said. "And this one was going to come out."
"What actually brought you to S.T.A.R. Labs?" Caitlin asked.
"I was graduate with outstanding scores in a lot of subjects," Bibiana said. "It caught the attention of S.T.A.R. Labs, Mercury, Stagg Industries, all the big companies."
They all walked into the cortex and ran around Bibiana's favorite computer. She typed away and brought up her scores and all her previous offers and the current ones.
"My family knew about it and were telling me what a difference I could make with it in the military," Bibiana continued. "But Dr. Wells came to see me personally and told me about all the things I could do without the military. In the end, I choose S.T.A.R. Labs. My family wasn't happy so we kept contact over the phone with my occasional visits to Starling City."
"This is where my team monitors the police bands for activity," Barry's voice said. Everyone looked over at the entrance. "We can track anything that happens. Check this out. We got our own satellite."
Bibiana quickly stood up while Felicity said I know. The girl ran over to her old friend and hugged her. She hadn't seen her since Barry was in a coma. There was also that one time that she was chased in an S.T.A.R. Lab facility in Starling City with Caitlin and Cisco. Where Felicity had asked them to come up with a cure since not long after a bunch of people tried to destroy Starling City. Because apparently, Oliver Queen had issues with the nut job.
"Felicity! I was going to see you after work," Bibiana said with excitement.
"Why didn't you go to Starling City and visited me?" Felicity asked.
"You know why," Bibiana said with a dark look on her face. The two girls dropped the topic since there were multiple reasons. One of them being almost killed and another being her parents.
"I know," Felicity said, going back to what Barry said. She looked at the building amazed. "I've hacked into it from time to time."
"Only when I bring down security on it to 'check' the software," Bibiana replied with a smirk.
"Rude," Barry said. He glanced at Bibiana. "Why?"
"She scratches my back and I scratch hers," Bibiana replied with a shrug.
"It is of course, wonderful to see you again, Felicity," Caitlin said. "I'm just wondering how much of our operation she needs to know about."
"I'm really good at keeping secrets," Felicity said. Bibiana nodded her head.
"She was one of the only people who knew about me along with you guys," Bibiana said. She had known that Felicity would've been able to help her through her dark times.
"Felicity also works for the Arrow," Barry added.
"Sweet," said Cisco.
"And you, apparently, are not," Felicity said, turning to Barry.
"Now it's all making sense. So you know who the Arrow is," Cisco said. "Wait. Do you know who the Arrow is? Both of you?"
"Uh . . ." Barry started off. He shook his head. Cisco turned to Bibiana who had dropped her voice to a whisper.
"This is top secret but the Arrow is secretly..." Bibiana looked around and sent a small wink to Felicity. "A cat."
A rare laugh escaped Bibiana's mouth when she saw the disappointment on his face.
"Let's just say that my team has a similar setup but with more pointy objects," Felicity said.
"Welcome, Miss. Smoak," Dr. Wells said.
"Dr. Wells?" Felicity said surprise. Bibiana held back a smile. "The Dr. Wells?"
"Please call me Harrison, Felicity," Dr. Wells said.
"You know who I am?" Felicity asked. Bibiana picked up some of her papers and started to staple things
"Ranked second in the National Informative Technology competition at age 19," Dr. Wells said. "Graduated MIT with master's degree in cybersecurity and computer science. I know who you are. I keep an eye out for promising talent in scientific fields. That's what brought me Cisco, Caitlin, and Bibiana. And I foresaw . . ."
Dr. Wells took off his glasses as Bibiana's smirk grew bigger. Sometimes her ego needed to be check before walking into a room.
". . . great things from you."
"Speaking of great things," Barry said, "wanna see something cool?"
"Fuck!" Bibiana cursed. She had accident stapled her finger and sent a small purple spark. Which had shocked her too, not that it caused great pain.
