21 ~ Re-wedding Planning
Ruhani POV
It was late night and I was ready for the family dinner. I had changed to the fresh pair of clothes, a long cotton night gown that was imported from the western countries by my father.
Yes, In the last decades we came to the more Empires in western countries. And, now the practice of sea exploration was on peak.
Well, every month the main informer visits our Sultanate who keeps us updated with the international affairs. And, being the best child of my father, I get to know about most the news.
I looked at myself again in the mirror and tied my long hair into the bun.
It was just one day and I was already missing him. I thought, the visit would help me to get over him, I meant the crush I had on him but no it was intensifying my feelings.
I signed and placed the duppatta on my head.
"Ruhani,"
I caught off-guard when Nandani called all of sudden entering my chamber.
She scanned the chamber and looked at me.
"There, you are,"
She said and walked towards me.
Well, her full name was Rajnandani, but we all call her Nandani. And, she was full of surprises.
I smiled looking at her and she came and hugged me tightly.
"Done bathing and dressing?"
She asked releasing the hug and I nodded.
"Then let's go for the dinner. Bua sa has asked for you,"
She told, Bua sa was the thing she used to call my mother.
I nodded and we both walked to the dining room.
The dinner was ready and my sight landed on everyone. My brothers, mothers, father and cousins.
"Where were you Ruhani? We were waiting for you,"
Rehman Bhaijaan said and I smiled looking at him.
'I was taking the bath'
I signalled him and he smiled back.
"Come, sit with me,"
He asked and my father spoke all of sudden.
"No, my baby is sitting with me,"
He smiled and then suddenly Badi Ammi interfered.
"Stop you father and son banter. My child is sitting with me. Come Ruhani,"
She called and I laughed.
Yes, I was everyone's favourite and surprisingly I knew about everyone more than they knew about themselves. Because, I was the person whom people could trust easily as I never shares anybody's things with anyone.
"Come Ruhani,"
My father said and then Badi Ammi and Rehman Bhaijaan repeated.
While my mother and cousin brother just laughed lightly.
But, there was someone who was sitting alone and didn't even talked to me much. My twin brother, Haider.
I walked silently and chose to sit beside him.
He was a introvert person and never talked too much. And, there was one more reason for it, me.
The day I lost my voice. He got into the trauma almost. The one whom he used to talk whole day, play whole day suddenly stopped talking and didn't like playing and keeps herself in shell.
The change in me also affected him, as if he could feel my pain.
I held his trembling hand as he remembers the tragedy whenever I gets closer to him and he looked at me.
His eyes upset as he asked slowly.
"Are you happy with him, Ruhani?"
His voice slow almost inaudible.
Well, he was unhappy with my wedding to him. Because, he always knew that Aashiq didn't like us much since his father died.
But, he was surely not like what we thought of him.
I nodded my head and he thinned his eyebrows.
"Does he respect you?"
He asked and I nodded.
"Talks you nicely?"
I nodded again.
"Takes care of you?"
I nodded immediately.
"Does he loves you?"
He asked at last and I just stared at him.
I didn't know what to answer but I couldn't lie of two reasons. One, I never lies and second he always caught me if I was lying.
I shook my head slightly and then he asked.
"And, then still you claims that you are happy,"
I sucked on my lower lip nervously and looked into his eyes signalling.
'Sometimes, the relation works better with friendship than love. And we have that, I guess. Because, in friendship you expect lesser and the main aim is to keep yourself and other happy while being in love is a responsibility. It's more like forgetting yourself in search for other's love and friendship helps you find yourself and the other's self too'
He looked a little upset and then I asked all of sudden.
'Is there something I should know,'
But, before he could answer anything, my father interrupted.
"Shall we start eating?"
I smiled looking at him and others and nodded.
We talked a lot, laughed and remembered our wedding days. My mother's and father laughed how everyone was so serious on my wedding.
But, suddenly Nandani spoke.
"What if we didn't celebrate properly then, we can celebrate now,"
Everyone looked at her and suddenly Rehman Bhaijaan spoke.
"Yes, it's a good idea,"
"What's the plan?"
My father asked.
And, now Haider interrupted.
"Yes, it's a good idea. Even Ruhani was upset on her wedding because everyone was so worried. We should celebrate,"
I looked at his slightly bubbled face and then suddenly Abhinandan Spoke.
He was brother of Nandani and playful in nature.
"But, what's the plan?"
Badi Ammi and Ammi asked.
And Nandani started.
"Why not we recreate her wedding memories with happiness,"
My eyebrows thinned in a row and everyone's also.
"Recreate wedding?"
My father asked.
"Yes, your highness, I mean we can do all the rituals with family only. The mehndi, haldi and everything what happens. We can dance, celebrate and Ruhani will also relive those moments,"
I laughed lightly.
"Brilliant Idea, sister,"
Abhinandan Spoke looking at her.
"Yes, great idea,"
Everyone agreed but suddenly my Ammi spoke.
"But, what about her husband? I am sure she will be even more happy if he would join it,"
Everyone turned silent and looked at me. Nervously, I settled my duppatta to keep the mark hidden and then suddenly Nandani caught everyone's attention.
"Well, we can start the celebration, and we will find the solution till we reach the wedding day after the rituals,"
Now, I got it why was she doing it.
She must be aware of the conditions in my wedding happened. That's why she convinced evryone so that she could make it up for us.
Smart girl.
"Okay, then we can start from day after tomorrow I guess,"
Badi Ammi spoke and we all nodded except the timid me.
Well, honestly I did wanted to those moments again and this time it would be happier than before. But, I wasn't sure how would my husband react for it.
"Okay then, I will discuss everything with Ruhani tomorrow and will brief the plan to everyone,"
Nandani spoke with excitement and everyone laughed.
By the time discussion lasted we were done with the food and after the sweets retired to out chambers.
My both mothers joined me to the walk to chamber and I welcomed them inside.
We all three sat on the bed and I lied keeping my head on my Badi Ammi's lap keeping the duppatta aside.
"Wow, Ruhani,"
Suddenly, Badi Ammi spoke and I sat up immediately. I remembered about the visible mark and turned timid instantly.
I looked at her and tried to tell her.
'It isn't like you think. An insect bit me'
She smiled widely and muttered.
"Yeah, the bigger insect'
I lowered my gaze with shame and suddenly my mother spoke.
"Are you happy with him? Baby,"
I looked at her worried eyes and nodded smiling weakly.
"Your father told me about what happned after your wedding,"
I lowered my gaze and didn't know what to say but holding the courage I told her everything.
They were my mother's and I never hid anything from them.
I told them what happened on our wedding night, then the fight with the father and then the hatred of his mother towards me. I also told them about Rabia and most importantly, I told them how I felt about Sultan's behaviour now.
Honestly, I was confused.
I didn't know what exactly it was but I started feeling safe around him. I started feeling happier and the old memories were themselves getting faded slowly.
And right now, I was missing him slightly and worried that he wouldn't be able sleep well without me.
"Don't worry, everything will be fine,"
Badi Ammi said and I looked at her.
"Yes, you know our wedding also started with the utter hate but then we both fell in love,"
My Ammi said and remembered her story.
I nodded smilingly and then she patted my head muttering.
"Now, you should take rest, baby,"
She said and kissed my forehead.
We three smiled and then left the chamber, after closing the door.
I was lying on the bed and closed my eyes. My memories remembering my husband and it didn't took me time to fall asleep as I was tired.
I woke up when I heard the anklets bells and bangles noise of attendees doing there morning chores.
They parted the curtains around the bed and tied them to pole and the bright sunlight fell right into my eyes.
I opened my wrinkled eyelids only to notice that it was late morning I overslept last night.
I quickly got off the bed and ran to get ready.
But, suddenly Nandani's voice caught my attention.
"Ruhani,"
I stopped and looked at her as she just entered my chamber.
"You aren't ready yet,"
She complaint and came closer to me.
I shook my head and she teased.
"Oh my god, that's love mark right?"
My cheeks instantly blushed and she covered it for me.
"I am so happy for you,"
She said and turned serious next moment.
"Ruhani, are you happy with him? I mean it would have been difficult after whatever happened,"
I gulped smiling weakly and nodded slightly.
"Are you sure? You know you can tell me everything,"
I nodded and asked her to come inside the Hammam.
We both changed into the bathing clothes and sat together in the Hammam just like we used to do. There were no attendees as we both chose to spend our quality time.
"So, would you mind telling me about wedding night?"
She asked and I chuckled looking at her.
I brought my wet hands in front to start signalling. She was my best friend as she learnt the sign language for me.
I told her everything how he came inside the chamber on our wedding night and then what he said, followed by his reaction when he get to know about my muteness.
Her face changed from happiness to sadness.
"Then, what happened after that?"
She asked and I told her everything with required details.
She smiled and turned upset with the change of events.
"So, your husband have sleeping issues,"
She asked and I nodded.
The warm water was soothing me and I looked at her calculative face.
"But, he can get asleep with you easily,"
I nodded.
She looked at me with thinned eyebrows and said.
"Ruhani, I don't think any man can change in such short span of time. Like you said on your wedding night he was angry but later on in three four week you both kissed more than once,"
I blushed on the kiss part and she continues.
"Either he had feelings for you before your marriage or there is some conspiracy behind the change of his behaviour,"
I thinned my eyebrows and asked.
'What do you mean?'
She signed and said.
"Nothing... I will tell you in some days,"
I thinned my eyebrows and she asked all of sudden.
"How long are you staying here?"
'Two weeks' I signalled.
"Then you will understand everything after these two weeks,"
