Nandani POV
But, suddenly I felt him holding my wrist and I turned back to look at the bloodied sight before me.
Suddenly, tears started falling from my eyes and I could not believe it.
There was blood in the compound. Hundreds of people screaming, lying on the ground holding their wounds and some of them helping each other.
He stepped forward but I stood frozen not believing that he did that. Suddenly, I wanted to run back from here. I could not see hundreds of people wounded, bleeding and half dead.
But, suddenly coming closer he lifted me up in his arms and I tried to shake my head. With fear, the words hung in my throat and I did not know why he did all of this.
Suddenly, I was feeling frightened and did not know that this side of his existed.
He walked through the empty places towards the door of the castle and put me down when we reached a gallery.
"How dare you?"
Suddenly a womanly voice caught my attention and I looked at the old lady approaching us with a group of ladies following her behind.
"Rudra,"
She yelled at him and I looked at her hand lifting up in the air and she landed a tight and impactful slap right on his cheek.
A frightening shiver ran down my spine.
"How dare you?"
She held his collar and I saw him standing emotionless with his eyes low in front of her.
"I told you, not to do this. I warned you that this would lead to destruction. People will go against you. Do not you remember I promised you. Because of you, thousands of soldiers are wounded. How heartless you are? For a throne, you put your life in danger along with thousands of others along,"
She slapped him once again and cupped his cheek to make him look at her.
"What the hell were you thinking?"
Her voice suddenly started trembling and she started coughing insanely. Her footsteps trembled and he stepped forward to hold her.
"Badi Maa,"
He called her and she showed her hand to him to stop him.
"Do not touch me. I do not know who you are. Now, you are the King, I do not think I belong here,"
His face turned upset and he said.
"Please do not say like this, Badi Maa,"
He said and she fell on the floor palming her forehead.
"You have made enemies now. You should have waited for his natural death. You were the only heir, why did you do this?"
She blabbered and I looked at him sitting down on his knees. He tried to hold her and muttered.
"You need to see the physician,"
And, I looked at her closing her eyes.
He immediately lifted her up in his arms and started walking away in the hurry.
"Someone, call the physician,"
He screamed and took her inside.
While I just stood frozen on my ground not knowing what the hell was happening.
I was just trying to comprehend all these things and just then someone called.
"This way Rani-sa,"
Her sweet voice caught my attention and I looked at her.
"I will take you to your chamber,"
I nodded.
She guided me towards the other galleries adjoined to this one, making me walk through a busy part of the Empire. We crossed at least seven similar like these and at last reached the most peaceful and less busy part of the Empire.
It was a whole different palace having chambers. It was cleaner, and beautiful and had gardens full of flowers.
"This way,"
The attendees helped me in guiding inside and I stepped into that chamber.
It was huge, very big and spacious. The cold winds travelled inside and a kind of relaxing aroma hit my nose making me feel relaxed the very moment.
I lifted my veil up to my head and finally looked around. The roof was round like a dome and had fine details of floral stones carved into the roof.
"This is your chamber, Rani-sa,"
The attendee informed and I looked around. It had a huge couch in middle and as I walked inside, it had adjoined another part. It was like a flower with nine petals.
In the middle was the main chamber with round architecture. It had a place for meetings, with huge couches and the biggest dome. There was a huge candle chandelier hanging in the middle of the roof. It was so huge that it needed five more small chandeliers hanging to the roof to brighten it.
Along with a chandelier, it had roughly eighteen candle stands around the round chamber. In front of the couches, there were thick carpets and as I walked inside, I looked into the other parts of the whole palace.
The first petal was the entrance and the centre-round chamber had other doors opening to the other petals, which were the other adjoined parts of the whole Palace.
The second part was space for chilling and relaxing. It was opened to the side where the Sun rises. I looked at the sunlight falling into it, it was peaceful, and relaxing and had thick carpets on the floor. It was basically for spending the daytime in the sunlight with the birds, books and games and nights with the moonlight and stars.
I walked into the third part which was a huge library with couches. It was completely sealed and had no window or opening except the door. There was pin-drop silence in it. Sight noticed the hundreds of shelves with the book neatly placed into them.
I smiled and scanned a few titles. It was amusing to me.
Walking further, I walked into the fourth part of the palace, which was dedicated to prayers. I looked at the empty place for the idol to be placed. I smiled looking at it and walked further into the next part.
Which was finally the bedroom. It was in the last, in the most peaceful place. There was a huge bed in the middle and candles stands. There were three layers of curtains around the bed and it was noiseless. My anklets bells were echoing as I was walking. It has a slight smell that was making me feel sleepy instantly.
This was magical.
"This way, Rani-sa,"
The attendee's voice caught my attention and we walked into the further part which was dedicated to bathing and dressing. It was joined to the bedroom. That means you could walk right into your bedroom after taking the bath.
I smiled slightly as I realised how private and relaxing it would be.
The next part of the chamber was something different. It was like a storage area. There were huge boxes where one could keep belongings, clothes, and personal things.
I walked into the next part which was the eighth one I was seeing.
And, it had all the weapons placed. Like it was a practice area, it was opened to the garden, the sunlight was falling in. The floor was different and it had a sack filled with sand hanging in the middle.
It was a perfect place for practising sword fighting and all. Also, it was joined to the main chamber, the meeting area of the round shape. The Bedroom was also joined to it. But, the library, bathing room, prayer hall, storage area and chilling part were not joined to the main chamber. There was a thick, wide gallery to reach those places.
And, the ninth part was locked.
"What is it?"
I asked looking at the attendees.
"We do not know. Only the King has access to this part,"
She informed and I nodded.
"So, you do not know what is inside?"
She shook her head and I looked at the lock.
"You should take the rest,"
The attendee suddenly said and we walked back to the bedroom.
I sat on the bed and looked at the attendee who said.
"You must be hungry, Rani-sa. Should I bring something to eat?"
I smiled looking at her. She was welcoming and respectful. I shook my head and exclaimed in a slow voice.
"I want to have a word with Ranaji. Can you take my message to him?"
She stayed silent for some moments and then nodded.
"Yes,"
She left and I looked at Suman who looked at me.
"I think there is some problem with Badi Maa here,"
I inhaled a sharp breath and nodded.
"There are so many things, I think I have to know,"
She nodded.
"But first, I need to meet Chandramukhi, the viper,"
She looked at me with furrowed eyebrows and asked.
"Who is she?"
I smiled weakly and stood up from the bed, walking towards the mirror to look at myself wearing the nosering.
"She is the reason why all this happened,"
And, suddenly.
"Privacy,"
I shivered all of sudden hearing his loud, authoritative tone. I turned to look at him and saw him standing a little away from me.
The attendees started leaving and I walked towards him.
The visuals of the wounded soldiers caught blurred my vision as I looked at him standing wounded too. His clothes were stained in blood, cuts on his whole body and I gulped with fear and anger looking at him.
Stopping in front of him, I tried to hold his bleeding hand but he pulled it away from me.
My heart suddenly ached with his cold behaviour and I asked in a slow voice.
"You could have kidnapped me than doing this,"
I tried to hold his hand again and he again pulled it away.
"You are bleeding, Rudra,"
I looked into his eyes and he brought his gaze to look into mine too.
"You made me do this,"
A lone tear fell from my eyes as he coldly said it and I tried to shake my head.
"No, your rage for revenge made you do this,"
He chuckled looking at me.
"You know what, I hate you,"
He said and stepped forward to me. My steps automatically moved backwards as he exclaimed with rage and water in his eyes.
"You people just care about yourself only. I thought you were any different but you are not. You are even worse than all of them. What did you say? Did you love me? You never did, never ever. You all are just the same, making me a pawn of your own game,"
Tears fell from my eyes and I looked into him with the courage slowly slipping away through me.
"Why did you marry me then?"
I asked and he inhaled a sharp breath.
"You were the only person I liked. And, imagine I used you for the only thing I ever wanted. I told you to marry someone else, but no, you did not listen. You kept frustrating me to the core and for the sake of taking revenge you even slept with a man, I wholeheartedly hate. If I can use the only person I liked, you see, liked, to seek what I wanted. Imagine what would I have done if I wanted you. You made me burn all of these for which I patiently waited for more than twenty years of my life, just for you, for you. You made me ruin all of these, and here is my eighth promise to you, Queen Nandani,"
He gritted his teeth, clenched his jaw and looked sharply into my eyes.
"I promise you I will never be yours. Never, ever. This is how much I hate you now. You were so desperate to ruin me, to become the Queen of the Suryagarh that you slept with a man whom I hate from the depth of my heart. Now, you are the Queen of Suryagarh. Sleep with whomever you want and I will never be yours. Never!"
I pushed him away with all the force I have in me. My hand raised high in the air and slapped him.
"You were ready to sleep with me for your revenge and it was right. If I slept with someone for my revenge, then it is wrong. Do hell with yourself, Rudra,"
And, suddenly he came closer and fisted my hair pulling me closer.
"I did not stop you from sleeping with anyone. I told you to find a man of your choice and get married. But, you clearly did not want it. All you wanted was to take what was left for me. And, you won but you lost me Rani-sa,"
He exclaimed and I blinked with the teary eyes.
"You are hurting me, Rudra,"
He chuckled a little.
"You are feeling hurt with this much pain, hnn? Ever imagined what I felt whole my life losing everyone one by one? Your parents snatched the only hope of my life. My father and then my mother, my childhood, my siblings, everyone, every fucking one,"
I tried to protest and muttered in a trembling voice.
"You just did what my father did to save my mother. Your father was an old man whom my mother never saw. He tricked her to get married to him and my father protected her from him. Just like you protected me from your uncle,"
He pulled me even closer and I saw his eyes burning with anger.
"I was protecting you until you stepped into his chamber and slept with him,"
