Spencer is powerful. It's clear to anyone that meets her that she has confidence. She presents herself in a way that makes it impossible to ignore her for long. She's just too magnetic. However, her confidence should not be mistaken for arrogance. She is humble and modest, never having been one to brag or show off. She wants respect and will earn it by proving herself. It is also clear that she is intelligent. She always did well in school, and is overall wise beyond her years. She uses her intelligence to her advantage. When combined with how eloquent she is, she can convince practically anyone of her views. Though she does have some firm beliefs, she keeps an open mind. She wants to hear all sides of the story before she makes any sort of decision. If you go against her in an argument, she won't shout over you, but will do her best to listen and consider what you are saying. She wants to make the best choices possible and has always believed that being well informed is the best way to do that. She is also unafraid to play Devil's Advocate if she needs to. Because of how observant she is, she often sees what others do not and will point out what is missing. She listens to her head most of the time, but when her loved ones come into question, she listens to her heart. She seems calculating and almost aloof at first, but she shows a gentler and caring side around those she cares about. These people are also the ones who see the insecurities she hides. But make no mistake: though she appears somewhat cold, she will reach out if she thinks something is off and is kind to everyone - that is, unless you give her a reason not to be. She is not someone you want to make your enemy. Treat her like a game, and she'll play to win. Treat her like a pawn, and she'll become the queen.

likes and dislikes
likes: Spencer loves her boyfriend, of course, but that's a given. She really enjoys puzzles and chess, as well as other strategic games. Jelly beans are her favorite candy, she loves coffee and roadtrips, and has a certain fondness for cats. Her family and friends come above all else. She has a deep love for learning and her favorite classes in school were Economics and History.
dislikes: Spencer hates being late or finishing things after the due date. She is definitely not a fan of garlic, soccer, or spiders. Overall, the things she despises the most are being lied to and not being given respect. And though she denies it, she has a very large fear of failure.

backstory
For as long as she could remember, Spencer had felt the need to be seen and to do things for herself. She was an only child, the daughter of a successful lawyer and a businessman who lived in New York City. Her parents were always busy. She spent more time at friends' houses than her own, or ended up eating dinner with her babysitter instead of her mom and dad. Her father was always in meetings and her mother was always prepping for a trial. One of the only times she got to see them was when they went to church on Sundays. When they moved to West Ham when she was eleven, things didn't change that much. Her parents were still as busy, though they did make a little more time for her as she got older. But this didn't last long. By the time she was fourteen, they were busier than ever. Her father was constantly going away on business trips, while her mother was taking on more and more cases with her firm. She even became a member of City Council, which meant Spencer saw even less of her. As a result, Spencer learned how to do things for herself. She cooked, she cleaned, made herself look put together, got herself to and from school, joined clubs, always did her best, and (most importantly) learned to solve her own problems. She worked hard for a number of reasons: to prove herself, to learn more, and to try to make her parents see her. Everything she did paid off and she got into her dream school.

additional information
Spencer has glasses, but she usually ends up wearing her contacts instead. She was on the debate team for all of high school. She also spent a lot of time volunteering and doing internships. If there is anything else that I think of I will add it here!

Theo is, without a doubt, one of the most intelligent people you will ever meet. He is smart and he knows it (though he definitely will not flaunt it. He may know he is smart, but that doesn't make him a better person. He always wants to learn and discover more), and does not keep what he knows to himself. If someone needs help, he is more than willing to reach out and help them with whatever they need. As long as you're not rude, you can count on him to lend a hand. He's like a walking encyclopedia, if encyclopedias liked comic books and had cute smiles. It's clear to all that he is kind. He always wants to see the best in people and will only be rude if you give him a reason to be. He trusts his gut and if he gets a bad feeling about someone, he won't ignore it. Though he denies it, he is a bit of a people pleaser. He can't say no when someone asks for something and always wants to make others happy, even if it means he gets stretched too thin. It's worth it if he gets to see a smile on the face of someone he cares about. Theo is also very loyal. His friends and family come before anything else and he is very protective of them. Say anything bad about them, and his smile vanishes, replaced by an angry expression and some scathing insults. He is normally very logical. But when the people he cares about are brought into the equation, he is ruled by emotion. Above all else, he believes that truth is one of the most important things. He is stubborn and curious. He will not let anyone stop him from finding out the answers to his questions, whether it's good news or bad. In addition to his loved ones, truth and knowledge are the most important things to him. Because what's the point of life if you aren't learning everything you can while experiencing it and making discoveries?

likes and dislikes
likes: Theo would do literally anything for his family and his friends. He really enjoys video games, but he also is a big fan of old tabletop games. He loves dogs, green apples, and comic books. He also really likes classic rock music and reading in general. It's no surprise that he likes anything related to academics and is a total whiz at math.
dislikes: Theo has always feared speaking in front of large groups of people. For as long as he can remember, he has disliked the cold. He hates carrots, sitting still for long periods of time, and waking up super late. He also really doesn't like when people speak over him.

backstory
Theo's family has lived in West Ham since before he was even born. His grandparents on his father's side moved there from Cuba when they were in their twenties. They had their son a few years later, and when his mother moved from Puerto Rico to West Ham, they got married pretty quickly. Theo is the second child of a mechanic and a high school Science teacher. His older sister, Maddie, was born six years before him. For the first five or six years of his life, things were pretty good. He would spend afternoons with his grandparents at his grandfather's bookshop, take a book to the park that was across the street, and read with his sister and grandmother. This is what made him love storytelling so much. Then, just a month before he turned seven, Grandpa Emiliano died in his sleep. His grandmother took over the bookshop, and moved into his family's house by the time he was ten years old. Excluding that, Theo's life isn't too bad. From an early age, he tried hard in school, studying at night and doing well on all of his assignments. He was a good kid and never did anything wrong. He wasn't in too many clubs, though, except for AV Club and Movie Club. Luckily this didn't stop him from getting into a great school. He isn't one hundred percent sure about what he wants to do when he graduates, but he might want to make documentaries for a living. Being a doctor would also be great, but his family doesn't have the money for med school.

additional information
Theo is fluent in Spanish. He works part time at the bookshop, and his sister used to as well before she went off to graduate school. He has an impressive (and secret) comic book and video game collection. If there is anything else I think of, I will add it here!
