Ruby pov

The mark of a higher class is unmistakable. Sapphire shows that plainly.

Especially jute now, when she was wearing that dress. You'd know immediately she was important.

"We have much to discuss," The vaguely familiar voice of Pink Diamond says.

"We do?" Sapphire's surprised whisper comes.

I take a step closer to them.

"Wait, no! This is just the type of thing that got me into this mess. I slam my hands over my ears and sit next to the wall.

Pink Diamond says something about her sisters.

"Nope."

Sapphire gasps. Once.

"No."

"Never."

I stand up and reach out just in time to catch Sapphire before she falls.

We stay like that, me looking at her face for a moment. Then I release her and we both blush furiously.

Pink Diamond giggles. "Just the Ruby I was looking for."

I bow my head. "If you don't mind my asking, what we're you two talking about?" I mentally slap myself in the face.

Stop being such an idiot!

Pink Diamond giggles again as I blush. "I'm glad you asked. Do you know what happens at a Kindergarten?" I shake my head no.

I know Kindergartens are where new soldiers are incubated, but that's about it.

"Do you know why there typically are none on Gem Inhibited planets? " Again, I shake my head. Pink Diamond sighs.

"When the gems are placed in the ground to incubate, they need nutrients to grow and develope. They suck these nutrients from the planet." Now it's my turn to gasp.

"But doesn't that destroy the planet and it's life?" Pink Diamond nods.

"The newest planet, Earth, will have the greatest of all Kindergartens. This will kill the dominant species, the humans."

"How is this different?" I ask.

"Because they're intelligent."
