Ruby

"It's been approximately twenty-two hours since Pink Diamond retreated to her gem," Pearl updates.

"If she's going to do that every half hour, please let me reduce her to her gem." The gem at the monitor says through gritted teeth.

"Stay focused! Our mission is to get to Earth, primary objective to keep these two safe." The orange gem scolds.

"What are we going to do on Earth?" I ask, poking at the Homeworld insignia on the floor.

"That depends on what Pink Diamond decides." I sigh.

"I wish she was here." I bury my head in my arms.

"Gaah!" I turn my head quickly to see Pearl panicking as the gem in her lap begins to glow. It levitates into the air, taking form slowly.

The gem left behind, has peach colored skin and large, pink, curly hair. She's roughly the size of a Quartz, and is wearing a long white dress with a Star cut out around the gem.

"My Diamond!" Everyone salutes, save the pilot.

"Please, sit down." Only the gem st the monitor and the blue gem sit.

"So far our total mission has been a success. The shell has been relocated with the proper recipient." The orange gem reports.

"Thank you," Pink Diamond says. "Where are Ruby and Pearl?"

"Right here, my Diamond!" Pearl says excitedly.

"Please, call me Rose Quartz." She requests, turning around.

"Yes, Rose." I think the name suits her better, it sounds mote caring.

"Very well. We'll be arriving on Earth shortly. Blue Diamond plans on colonizing the planet. Disguised as a Quartz I can intercept Sapphire when she arrives as an ambassador. I'll assign her a Ruby guard." She smiles at me.

"But won't thy realize something is up?" I ask suspiciously.

"Ruby, everyone thinks you've died," Pearl reminds me.

"And Sapphire had her memory erased anyway," The gem up front adds.

"See, it's foolproof!" Rose smiles.

"Yeah, except I'll have to live with the fact that she's forgotten me..."

I sigh, staring out into the endless universe, whether or not it  provides answers.
