Catching Up
Sapphire pov
"Ruby, you are dismissed." Ruby nods her head and leaves.
"Pink, how lovely to see you," My Aunt White says in the tone she uses when she speaks to someone she dislikes.
"Yes, and you, White." My Aunt Pink glances around the room, and her eyes land on me. "Sapphire, it's lovely to see you again."
"It's good to see you as well," I reply, unsure of the situation.
"Jadeite, leave us." Aunt Yellow says, her eyes transfixed in Aunt Pink.
"Yes ma'am." Jadeite replies, turning into the hall silently.
"Why are you here?" Aunt Yellow asks Aunt Pink.
"Yellow, I'm sure you are aware I only have the better interest of the people in mind," My Aunt starts.
"Sapphire, it would be best if you sat in my room." Mother said, dismissing me. I bow my head, and leave.
"Pink, you are aware of how foolish you've been?" I stop in my tracks.
"Whatever could you mean?" Aunt Yellow sighs, and I prepare myself for the story of a lifetime.
"Young life for us wasn't easy. At first, it was just Mother. Stardust. I was Created first, naturally. In order to show me life was filled with unfairness, mother reduced me to my gem several times a day.
"Then you were created. Mother seemed to only shelter you and make sure your existence was lovely." She finished speaking, but the story isn't over yet. A moment has passed.
"Why do you bring this topic to speech?" Aunt Pink asks. After another moment, my mother speaks.
"Mother cracked my gem. Time and time again, as praise, as punishment. Soon I learned I could use the pieces of my gem combined with Minerals to create life. Mother taught me about pain and creation.
"Mother had an odd way of showing affection. But she loved us, even if she showed it through pain." From across the room, glass shattering rings through the air.
"I'm glad Mother loved you." My Aunt White clutches a shard of glass in her hand.
"What do you mean, Mother loved us all..." Aunt Pink Says, reaching her hand out touch Aunt White.
Aunt White slaps her hand away, and Aunt Yellow and Mother step into view.
"She didn't love me! All mother did was fuss about the three of you! She didn't want another Diamond, There were only meant to be three! Her first mistake was when she made Glass, then she tried to make a stronger gem and got me!" My Aunt throws the glass straight at Mother. "You were supposed to be the youngest, and I Wasn't supposed to exists. I hope you're happy!" I duck out of the way as she stomps to her room.
"Sapphire, dear?" Aunt Pink calls after a moment of whispering.
"Yes?" I reply, walking in as if I'd only heard her call. I can see that the chairs near the door have all been pushed over, and Aunt White's favorite vase lies broken on the ground.
"Would you like to take a walk?" I nod my head silently.
"Take your Pearl." Aunt Yellow says, not turning around.
"Fine." A new Pearl, with her gem in the dame location as Aunt Pink's, steps forward and we walk.
"We have much to discuss. "
