Ruby is 6 and Yang is 8

Ruby's pov

I was outside playing in the woods near the house. I was playing with a red ball throwing it a big rock having it bounce back to me.

Ruby: *giggles* I wonder when I get bigger and trained could I cut this rock in half.

I throw the ball again but I miss and it goes a little far into the woods. I proceed to follow it and find it behind a bush and I find another ball that's deep blue.

It's also a bit bigger but looks deflated. I was about to pick it up when it jumped back.

Ruby: Woah.

I saw it dissolve at plant that it landed on.

Ruby: Cool. Hmmmm.

I quickly grab my bag of strawberries and grab few and try to get it's attention.

Ruby: Hey.

It turned and I guess it's looking at me it doesn't have a face so I guess it is. I drop a strawberry in front of it and it moved forward without jumping and swallowed it and slowly dissolved it. I drop the rest on top of it and it all goes inside it and dissolves.

Ruby: Cool.

Dad: RUBY! LUNCHTIME!

Ruby: Oh bye I guess little whatever you are.

I grab my ball and start walking back home but as I was making my way there I was hearing what I think was jiggling and ploping behind me. I turn around and see it following me. I put the ball in a pocket and I walk over to it and put a hand on it and my hand doesn't go inside it I then proceed to pick it up with both hands and start running back home. I get home and go inside and head to the kitchen.

Ruby: Hi dad look what I found and befriended.

Dad: What is that?

Ruby: I don't know I thought you would know. Oh oh it also ate a plant you told me was poisonous. It's not sick see.

Yang: That's cool.

Ruby: Can we keep it please please please?

Dad: I don't know.

I do the puppy eyes at max towards dad.

Dad: Fine but you're looking after it.

Ruby: Yay! Hmmm I'm gonna call it Y/n.

Dad sets a plate down and go over to the table and start to eat. I ate the food that I found very tasty and when dad wasn't looking I scraped the yucky broccoli below the table to Y/n and he of course ate and dissolved it. After a bit of time eating.

Ruby: Done. I'm gonna go show Y/n where he'll be sleeping and stuff.

I grab a pillow from the couch for his makeshift bed in my room and grabbed him and went up to my room I sat the couch pillow on a chair and placed him there.

Ruby: That's where you'll be sleeping for now Y/n.

He bounces down and roams around the room most likely getting a feel of his new home. I opened the door and head downstairs to watch TV letting him be able to roam around freely. After awhile it hopped up and stayed next to me on the couch I put my hand on the top and basically pet it.

Timeskip Ruby is 10 yang is 12

Still Ruby's pov

I was out training with Uncle Qrow, Y/n was watching along with Zwei a Corgi dad got since Yang and I were so good with Y/n he's around 2 years old now and still has a lot of energy. (I'm trying to research things and stuff for all my books and I found that the type of corgi Zwei is has a life expectancy of 12 to 15 years) I just finish the routine and look over to the two pets and see Y/n is bouncing up and down.

Ruby: Huh what is it?

Qrow: I think the slime wants to spar against you?

He bounces to the sides and moves forwards.

Ruby: I guess so.

He bounced up infront of me and he suddenly made two crescent blades on his sides.

Qrow: First let's see if he can actually cut something.

Uncle Qrow tosses a empty water bottle and Y/n bounces and slices it in half. I proceed to take a fighting stance as I see Y/n flatten his body. I charge at him as he blocks my first strike I go for a overhead strike and he dodges I proceed to fire a shell off and use the speed from said shot to do a faster side strike. He managed to block said strike by turning said blades so that they're vertical and perfectly blocks it.

Qrow: I think that little guy has been studying how you fight.

He must have how else is he managing to block and dodge every attack. I refocus my attention to Y/n to see him spinning and moved the blades so they're like a spinning blade and starts bouncing at me with me dodging when I can and blocking with crescent rose when necessary. He was relentless and nearly had me but I managed to get an angle to where I could hit him point blank with a sniper round of course I purposely shoot beside him.

Ruby: I win that shot would have killed you I think at least. We never learned how much punishment you can take technically but you are a strong force to be reckoned with Y/n.

He maneuvered in a way to look like he's proud or something still hard to tell since he has no face and whatever.

Qrow: Well it's been a great training session today I got to go do my latest mission. By the way I'm quite sure that slime unlocked its aura at some point so it may have had you in the end.

Ruby: Huh?

I grab a stick and whack the top of Y/n and a shimmering blue aura protected and healed the area.

Ruby: What? How? When?

I curled up still on my feet.

Ruby: How did I not notice?

I then felt something nudge me and saw Y/n putting some sort of slime hand on me.

Ruby: Thanks I guess for trying to comfort me Y/n.

Timeskip

Well I stopped a robbery from happening and talked to the headmaster of Beacon and somehow managed to talk him into letting me bring Y/n as a combat pet just by showing him a picture which was really really odd. Now I am currently getting a crushing bear hug from my sister with Y/n in my hood.

Yang: I can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me. This is the best day ever.

Ruby: Please stop.

She finally let's go and I feel Y/n hop out of my hood and hopped into my arms.

Yang: But I'm so proud of you.

Ruby: Really sis it was nothing.

Yang: What do you me it was incredible. Everyone here at Beacon will think your the bee's knees.

Ruby: I don't want to be the bee's knees I don't want to be any kind of knees I just want to be a normal girl with normal knees.

Y/n bounced out of my arms and bounced up on top of my head.

Yang: What's wrong aren't you excited?

Ruby: Of course I'm excited I just... I got moved ahead two years I don't want people to think I'm special or anything.

Yang: But you are special.

We started to hear the news playing all of a sudden and we turned our attention to it.

Cyril: The robbery was led by nefarious criminal Roman Torchwick, who continues to evade authorities. If you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact the Vale Police Department. Back to you, Lisa.

The mugshot changes to Lisa Lavender, with a photo of animal-eared demonstrators holding signs saying "WE ARE NOT ANIMALS!" followed by an image of the logo of a growling red wolf's head with three scratch marks.

Lisa: Thank you, Cyril. In other news, this Saturday's Faunus Civil Rights protest turned dark when members of the White Fang disrupted the ceremony. The once peaceful organization has now disrupted...

The news changed to a hologram of the Huntress from the other night.

Huntress: Hello and welcome to Beacon.

Yang: Who's that?

Glynda: My name is Glynda Goodwitch.

Yang: Oh.

Glynda: You among the privileged  few who received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy. Our world is experiencing a incredible time of peace and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world.

The hologram dissipates and we both go over to the window and look outside it. Oh I see signal.

Ruby: Wow you can see Signal from up here. I guess home isn't too far after all.

Yang: Beacon's our home now.

I feel Y/n with a slime like hand give me a head pat. We then heard gagging and saw someone looking like they were gonna throw up.

Yang: Well I guess the view isn't for everyone.

Ruby: It was a nice moment while it lasted.

Yang: I wonder who we're gonna meet.
