YN's POV
Today is initiation day I woke up and made my way to my locker passing ruby and yang on the way "Hey girls"

"Hey YN" they both said before continuing their conversation

I got changed into my fighting clothes a FC (Favourite Colour) T-Shirt with a (silhouette logo) on it under a Black zip up hoodie with jeans and black converse. I strapped some light dark leather bracers to my forearms for a little more protection And slide my wrist band of shot gun shells onto my left wrist and put a magazine of rifle ammo in my back pocket. I then strapped my two longswords to my back (Leonardo from TMNT style) and walked out.

I walked up to Ruby and Yang they were the only people I really knew so so wanted to stay with them. They started talking about teams then the conversation turned to a more personal sister to sister conversation so I decide to make my presents known a bit later. They then noticed me after Ruby got mad at Yang for implying she needed to break out of her shell "Oh hi again YN" Ruby said

"Hey Ruby Hey Yang what's up?"

"Nothin just talking about that rumour about teams being formed today" Yang said

"Cool"

We then looked over a the noise of a weapon hitting one of the lockers to see Phyrra Nikos pinned Jaune to a locker then walked away with Weiss

"Oh no the Ice Queens already gotten to Phyrra"I said in a slightly sarcastic manor

We than walked over to Jaune

"Lady Troubles?"Yang said helping Jaune up

"I don't understand my dad said all that women look for is confidence"

"You gotta cut your loses somewhere bro"I said patting him on the shoulder

Timeskip to The initiation forest
We all took our places standing on various panels on the ground and listened to Ozpin's speech we learnt that we would be partnered up with the first person we make eye contact with in the forest. we were then shot towards the forest.

I started falling through the air I dodged around trees then used my semblance to make shockwaves come from my hands to cushion my fall I landed and started running in a random direction trying to find anyone I knew "Ruby would be nice to find or Yang maybe Jaune" I kept running until I came upon a sight I didn't expect here.

I came across a White Fang camp site I ran to hide in a bush as White Fang started to walk out and discuss there plans "Maybe they can help me find Maple" I jumped out of the bush with my arms extended to the camp site and sent a shock wave knocking over their tents and extinguishing their small camp fire as well as knocking a few off there feet. I took out my swords and one by one started taking them out. I was down to one and I was feeling worn by this point He tried to run but I threw my sword near his foot distracting him for long enough for me to pounce on him pinning him to the ground "You are gonna tell me exactly what I want to know if you want to exit this forest with all ten of your fingers still attached" I said pinning his clothes to the ground with one sword and grabbing his hand positioning my second sword between his index and middle fingers

He gulped nervously "OK OK OK What do you want to know?"

"Where is Maple (L/N)?"

"Who?"

I slid the blade across his index finger not cutting it off but making it bleed and cutting into it just a little

"Please no I don't know who that is please"

"She's a deer fannus her name is Maple (L/N) she was taken into the White Fang years ago tell me where she is!"

"I swear I don't know please just let me go"

I glared at him I let go of his hand and punched him across the face knocking him out "I've got a exam to finish so count your self lucky" I got off of his unconscious body and sheathed my swords I walked away from the camp and pulled out my silver heart locket "I will find you sis I just need more time"

I wiped a tear from my face and kept running away from the camp site I eventually came across some ruins with chess pieces on pedestals I walked up as I heard the familiar voice of Yang say" What about a cute little pony" and a less enthusiastic voice say "sure why not"

"Hey girls" I said making my presence known

"Oh hey YN" Yang said waving at me

"Hey Yang by the way I didn't catch your name" turning my attention to the black haired girl with her

"I'm Blake, Blake Belladonna"

"YN LN"

"So you find a partner yet?"Yang said

"Not yet I'm hoping to find another person here"

"Cool"

I heard a familiar cute voice and looked up to see Ruby falling from the sky just as Jaune flew across intercepting Ruby before she could hit the ground. "Did your sister just fall from the sky?" Blake said Right after that a ginger haired girl rod in on and Ursa "Did that girl just ride in on an Ursa" said Blake clearly confused by this situation like the rest of us. just as Phyrra Nikos ran towards us chased by a Deathstalker Yang and Ruby greeted each other before the ginger girl interrupted introducing herself as "Nora" "Did she run all the way here with a death stalker on her back?" I looked at Yang who looked just about ready to snap "COULD EVERYONE JUST CHILL OUT FOR 2 SECONDS BEFORE SOMETHING CRAZY HAPPENS AGAIN?!" She yelled we noticed Weiss attached to a Nevermore and waited 2 seconds to bring it up "uhhh gang" I said pointing up at Weiss. We heard here shout something it was inaudible at this distance but Ruby responded by mumbling "I said jump"

"She's gonna fall" Blake said

"She'll be fine"Ruby brushed off the comment

"She's falling" I said

I watched Jaune leap from the tree to catch Weiss "this should be fun" I said folding my arms and leaning against a pillar at the ruins

He did exactly what I expected jumping to early he landed face first on the ground with Weiss landing on top of him "my hero" she said checking her nails completely disinterested

"My back" Jaune weakly said from under Weiss

Phyrra flew in front of us landing on the ground "great the gangs all here now we can die together" Yang sarcastically said

"Not if I can help it" as Ruby ran towards the Deathstalker

"Oh no"I said with concern

"Ruby wait" Yang yelled

As Ruby flew towards the Deathstalker attempting to strike it but getting hit in the process she than took a couple shots and started to run

Me and Yang took off towards ruby as the Nevermore shot its feathers down catching Ruby by her cape "No Ruby!" I yelled

"Ruby get out of there!" Yang yelled

"I'm trying!" she yelled back

The Deathstalker was getting closer to Ruby I punched my fist into the ground and used my semblance to send a shock wave through the ground pushing the feathers out of it as a white blur passed me and Yang to intercept the attack

We watched as Weiss blocked the attack with some ice then gave Ruby a lecture I was just happy she was safe. Yang ran up to Ruby and hugged her. Jaune pointed towards the Nevermore "guys that thing is circling back what are we gonna do?" he said concerned

"Our objective was to grab an artifact and get back to the cliffs so there's no sense in staying here to fight that thing" I said

"Run and live that is a plan I can get behind" Jaune said

"But YN you don't have a partner you'll be disqualified" Ruby said in a sad tone

"It's better for you all to live and succeed than it is for us to wait around for one more person to show up" I said

Ruby looked really sad I just place a hand on her head ruffling her hair "besides there's always next year" I gave her a smile hiding the fact I was sad I wouldn't be able to see Ruby for a whole year

"Ok let's go" as everyone took off running towards the cliffs

We ran towards an old castle like structure and everyone ran towards the Nevermore away from the Deathstalker I pulled out my rifle sword and took a knee beside Phyrra as we both fired at the Deathstalker to keep it at bay. The Nevermore took out the bridge separating the group "God dammit never split the party" I angrily said.

Me, Blake, Ren and Phyrra were fighting the Deathstalker on one side. Nora and Jaune launched them selves towards us hitting the Deathstalker Nora slid back and hit Blake who fell off the bridge then swung her self towards the Nevermore to bring herself to ruby and the others.

The 5 of us started to attack the Deathstalker while Ruby and the others kept the Nevermore at bay. Jaune and Phyrra blocked it's claws with their shields opening it up to Me, Ren and Nora. Ren grabbed onto the stinger and swung from it firing into it Nora fired at it from a distance as I stabbed my left sword into it's eye and pulled the trigger firing my shot gun blast from the hilt before removing my sword and retreating to the others. Phyrra threw her spear at its other eye it would be blind right now if it didn't have four eyes. On Jaune's command Phyrra threw her shield at the Deathstalker loose stinger severing it and stabbing it into its head and finishing the job Ren started. Nora jumped on Phyrra's shield and shot herself into the sky I pulled out my sword rifle and started to fire at the Deathstalker to keep its attention away from Nora. She slammed her hammer into its head sending Me, Jaune and Phyrra flying onto solid ground she then pulled the trigger on her hammer sending herself towards us beating the Deathstalker. We watched as Ruby, Yang, Blake and Weiss basically set up Ruby as a human slingshot and sent her towards the Nevermore she ran up the cliffside using Weiss' glyphs and cut its head off at the top of the cliff

"That was amazing!" I said excited

Timeskip to Team ceremony
"Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, Yang Xiao Long from this day forth you will be known as team RWBY"

"Wait they have a team member named Ruby Rose and there team name is team RWBY that won't get confusing at all" I thought

"lead by Ruby Rose"

"And she's the team captain even better"I thought sarcastically

All joking aside I was really sad watching this, I failed and I wasn't gonna be able to see Ruby for a year because of that. I reached into my shirt and pulled out the locket I opened it and whispered "I'm sorry you're gonna have to wait just a little longer" before closing it and sliding it back into my shirt. I walked out of the room after the ceremony and met up with team RWBY "Hey girls" I said slightly sad

They all stopped and in a second Ruby turned around ran up to me and hugged me I blushed and hugged her back "I don't want to see you go YN you're my best friend" I couldn't say I didn't feel the same but I had to act a little upbeat to try and make her feel better

"Don't worry Ruby I'll be back in a year and I'll talk to Oz about when I can visit"

"But I don't want you gone for a year I wanna learn with you"

"It's ok Ruby you got Yang, Blake and Weiss to keep you company"

I heard a familiar voice from behind me as I was about to tear up from how sad this conversation was

"Mr. LN me and Professor Ozpin would like to see you in his office"Glynda said from behind me

"See you around ruby" I lightly kissed the top of her head which I could tell surprised her as we let go of the hug and I walked away smiling at Ruby who was trying to smile back I looked down at my shirt and noticed two wet dots where her face was "was she crying?".

I arrived at Ozpin's office the elevator ride up was like that feeling you get when you know you're in trouble and your just waiting for the punishment "ahh Mr.LN have a seat" I did as I was told while looking at my feet

"I understand you did not complete the exam" I nodded still looking down at my feet

"Normally this would cause me to expel you but Normal isn't finding a White Fang camp on school grounds" I heard my voice coming from a recording on a scroll

"She's a deer fannus her name is Maple LN she was taken in by the White Fang years ago tell me where she is!"

I finally looked up to see that they had a recording of my run in with the White Fang in the forest

"We now know that you were unable to complete it due to dealing with the White Fang group. This was meant to be a test of your abilities and a way to pair students up though you only did one of these things you helped out your fellow students and this school in taking them down. You were also willing to sacrifice your spot in this school in order to save a group of students you only knew 3 of"

"Your point?"

"We are a school meant to train huntsman and huntresses and you showed the qualities of a great one"

"Thank you Sir"

"Because the reason you failed was out of your control I am choosing to let you join a group"

"Really!?" I was so excited and happy when I heard that sentence

"Yes now which one would you like to join" the first face to pop into my head was Ruby's I smiled and looked at Ozpin

"If I can I would like to join team RWBY Sir"

"I thought so well grab your things and get going you will need to get there early to set up" he smiled at him

I was so happy I could kiss him but that would be weird... really weird I shook his hand instead and ran off towards the elevator

Ruby's POV (Finally a different POV than YN's)
I was still sad about YN not being able to get into the school truth be told I think I developed a bit of a crush on him during our first day. Yang was trying to comfort me sometimes helping sometimes not. Blake and Weiss were staying out of this they didn't know how to deal with this so they let Yang do it. There was a knock at the door and Yang got up to answer it I just hugged the pillow I was holding tighter. I heard Yang let out an excited giggle then close the door and walked back over to me "Hey Ruby I've got a surprise for you that I think you're really gonna like" she said with a huge smile

"Not now Yang" I said burying my face into the pillow she pulled the pillow away from me and grabbed my hand

"Come on it will be really quick and your gonna love it"

"Ok" I slowly got up and Yang led me to the front door

"Come in" she shouted and in walked YN

YN's POV
I had gotten to the door of Ruby's room I knocked on it and Yang answered as I was about to speak she covered my mouth and giggled she then whispered in my ear "Ruby is pretty sad stay out here and wait for the signal I got a plan to cheer her up"

I whispered back "ok"

I waited a few seconds before hearing yang say "come in" through the door assuming that was my queue I opened the door and stepped in to see Yang holding a sad looking Ruby as she looked at me her face lit up and she tackled me to the ground
