Maple's POV
I was walking along with some other White Fang members, a Mute girl named Neo and Roman Torchwick. We were setting up our plan in an abandoned train station under Mountain Glenn. The plan was basically we fill train cars with explosives and blow them up to make holes for Grimm to infiltrate Vale. Though I wasn't really on board with this plan because Vale is very close to Beacon Academy and I had done some research on my off time and YN goes to Beacon. I still didn't know weather to believe him or not but just the chance that he was being honest was a sort of sobering thought. I had never doubted the White Fang before but after my talk with him I started to think about the story about my families deaths that the White Fang told me and some things didn't really add up and I was now constantly second guessing everything that I did with the White Fang. "Hey antlers! Hurry up and help!" Torchwick yelled

That was another thing about this job, Torchwick didn't seem to care about anything but his own survival which was annoying. I walked over to a few of my White Fang brothers and sisters and helped them to transport a box of explosives into a cart.

YN's POV
Me, Yang, Blake and Weiss were all inside the building Obleck told us to set up in. Yang, Weiss and Blake were by the fire while I was sitting in front of an opening in the wall watching Ruby and Obleck talk. "I can't believe we didn't find anything" Yang said kinda frustrated but more just disappointed

"We've always been at the right place at the right time. Our good luck was bound to run out sometime" I said getting up and walking towards the girls and sitting at the fire

There were a few seconds of nobody talking and the only sounds being the crackling fire and the wind outside "That's not what I meant" Weiss said

"Hmm?" We all responded

"Earlier. About upholding the legacy there's more to it than that" she continued

"Yeah. No me to I mean. I don't know" Yang said looking dejected

"Me neither. I know what I want to do but I figured I would always take things one step at a time" Blake said standing up

"My entire goal is to find Maple and bring her back and I might be able to do that soon. I never even thought about after I found her" I said also standing up

"Well it doesn't matter. We know why were here. Right?" Yang said

We all looked around and at the ground in silence "Ahh wonderful a textbook camp fire" Obleck said dashing into the room

"Fire!" Ruby yelled

She jogged up to it and knelt down by it "Soo Warm~" She said as she warmed her self up

"Very good! Eat your dinner and hurry to bed. We have a lot of ground to cover tomorrow and I need you to take turns watching over our temporary abode. So any volunteers for first watch?" Obleck said

"Yo" Ruby said raising her hand

She started walking over to the watch point I was sitting at before "Hey" Yang said getting Ruby's attention

"Did Obleck ask you why you wanted to be a huntress. I mean what did you tell him?" Yang asked

"Hmm No he didn't. Weird oh well good night guys" She said walking the rest of the way to the watch point

The rest of us finished eating and went to bed thinking about what Obleck asked us that day. We all tried to sleep for hours but to no avail Ruby was the only one that fell asleep even though she was the only one that needed to stay awake. Yang than spoke "Blake are you awake?"

"Yeah" Blake responded

"Why do you think he asked us about being a huntress. Like what was he trying to say?" Yang asked

"Maybe he was just curious"

"You think?"

"No"

"Weiss are you awake?" Yang asked

"Of course I'm awake you two are talking" she said

I sat up "before you ask I'm awake to"

"So what do you two think? What do you think he meant?" Yang asked

I lied back down and Weiss spoke"I think. When I said I wanted to honour my families legacy I meant it but it's not what you think. I'm not stupid I'm fully aware of what my father has done with the Schnee dust company. Since he took control of the business our company has worked in a moral. Grey area"

"That's putting it lightly" Blake said as Weiss sat up

Weiss sat up "Which is why I feel the need to make things right. If I had taken a job in Atlas it wouldn't have changed anything. My father was not the start of our name and I refuse to let him be the end of it" Weiss said laying back down

"I have spent so much of my life trying to find and bring back Maple. And I found her but for the past 9 years I've had tunnel vision of this one goal. I might be able to get her back but I never even tried to think about what I would do after I brought her back... I've basically been living my life for someone else for 9 years straight" I said while gripping my locket tightly and staring at the ceiling

It was silent for a moment before Blake spoke up "All my life I fought for what I thought was right. I had a partner named Adam, more of a mentor actually. He always assured me that what we were doing would make the world a better place. But of course his idea for a perfect future turned out to be. Not perfect for everyone. I joined the academy because I knew that huntsman and huntresses were regarded as the most noble warriors in the world, always fighting for good but I never really thought past that. When I leave the academy what will I... How can I undo so many years of hate?" Blake said

"I'm sure you'll figure it out you're not one to back down from a challenge Blake" Yang said with a sincere smile on her face

"But I am! I do it all the time. When you learnt I was a fannus I didn't know what to do so I ran, When I realized my oldest partner had become a monster I ran, even my semblance. I was born to leave behind a shadow of myself, and empty copy of myself that takes the hit while I run away" Blake said

It was silent for a while "At least you three have something that drives you. I've always just gone with the flow you know. And that's fine that's who I am but how long can I really do that for? I wanna be a huntress not really because I want to be a hero but I want the adventure, I want a life where I don't know what tomorrow will bring and that will be a good thing being a huntress just happens to line up with that. I'm not like Ruby. She's always wanted to be the huntress It's like she said ever since she was little she dreamt about being the hero's in the books helping people and saving the day and never asking for anything in return even when she couldn't fight she knew that's what she wanted to do. That's why she trained so hard to get where she is today" Yang said

"Well she's still just a kid" Weiss said sitting up

"We're all still kids. Granted me and Ruby are two years younger but we're all still kids" I said sitting up

"Not anymore" Yang chuckles

"I mean look where we are. In the middle of a war zone and armed to the teeth" Yang continued

"It's the life we chose" Blake commented

"It's a job we all had this romanticized vision of being a huntress or huntsman in our heads but at the end of the day. It's a job to protect the people. And whatever we want will have to come second" Weiss said

As we all lied down and were eventually able to fall asleep.

Maple's POV
We were still filling the carts with explosives. I was pretty jealous of the people that got to go up onto the surface for patrol. I needed some fresh air but I couldn't leave without getting stopped and yelled at. I took a break hiding in between some crates so Torchwick wouldn't notice me. He didn't care about any of us he just likes using us like everyone else so I knew he wouldn't notice if one of his 'workers' went missing for a couple minutes. I took off my White Fang mask so I could breath better and rubbed my antlers and small deer ears and sighed. I reached into my shirt and pulled out the locket. I clicked it open and stared at the people, I looked at YN and I don't know why but I smiled then I looked to the little girl he was holds hands with and I started to cry. "If he is telling the truth maybe he can explain why I feel so depressed whenever I look at the little girl in the picture. Who was Scarlet?" I thought. I heard a commotion and put my mask back on and tucked the necklace into my shirt. I walked out from the crates to see Perry and Kevin dragging a girl with black hair that turned red at the tips in a red cloak and black and red outfit. "Hey Boss! We've got something that we think you'll want to see!" Perry yelled

"Is it good or bad Perry cause let me tell you I have had a day" Torchwick responded from inside a train car

"Umm it's a little girl?" he responded

Roman pokes his head out from the train and looked at the girl "That would be bad"

They throw her onto the ground and he begins fighting with the girl as she desperately try's to hit him but he easily steps out of the way. This girl obviously doesn't fight hand to hand much "Wow you are much easier to deal with without that oversized garden tool of yours" Torchwick says with a laugh

She jumps and tries to punch him again but he just side steps and laughs "Oh man you know Perry I really did need this. But seriously" he kneels down to be the same size as the girl

"How'd you find this place red?" He asked

As she disappeared in a burst of rose petals "What?!" Torchwick yelled as the girl tried to run away

Torchwick used his cane to shoot a grapple to latch onto the girls hood and pull her back "I see you got some tricks up your sleeve let me make this clear. You're not through here yet" he then turned to us

"Take her to a train car and tie her up and some one watch her" Torchwick said snapping his fingers and pointing at the train

We moved her to a train car and sat her down. Perry and Kevin tied her up and I sat across from her as they left. I noticed a small silver heart shaped locket around her neck that looked almost identical to mine. "D-Do you go to Beacon Academy?" I asked

"Yes, Why?" She said

"Do you know a boy named YN LN?"

"How do you know about YN?!"

"Is he the one who gave you that locket?"

"How do you know?"

I reached into my shirt and pulled out my locket. I clicked it open and held it up to her and she gasped "H-H-How do you have that?" She asked in a panic

"I've had it for as long as I can remember" I said reclasping the locket around my neck but letting it hang free instead of hiding it in my shirt

She gasped again "Maple?" she said with wide eyes

"How do you know my name?" I asked

"YN talks about you all the time. He's been searching for you. We need to find him quick. He's on my team I could get him" she said very quickly and excited

"Wait! He's here?!" I asked

"Yeah he's on my team and our team was on a mission to find a White Fang base here... Mission accomplished I guess" she said mumbling the last bit

I sighed in relief that YN was near but I still wanted to make sure the story he told me wasn't a lie "So I-I don't actually remember anything before I was 6 the White Fang say they found me when I was 5 and my entire family was either dead or didn't care. Did YN tell you about me?"

"YN has been searching for you since you got taken. To make a long story short you, him and your older sister Scarlet went to play in a forest when you got kidnapped by White Fang . He tried to save you but you all got knocked out. YN woke up tied to a tree at a White Fang camp and broke free and found you with other fannus children and freed all of you then you went to find your sister and she was..." the girl was talking quickly up to that point when she instantly stopped

"Scarlet was what?!" I asked in a panic

"She-She was d-dead"

I froze and started to cry. I guess I know why I cry every time I see her now. She's dead "What else happened?"

"You started cry and the White Fang heard they beat up YN and took you claiming that they would be your new family" She finished

It was silent for about 5 minutes before I talked again "Do you believe him?" I asked

"What?"

"Do you believe that that's what actually happened?" I asked

"Of course I do YN would never lie about something this big. He's to good for that trust me when I say he's been desperately searching for you for years"

"... Does he blame me for any of this?" I asked gesturing to the makeshift White Fang base we were in

"No he doesn't blame you for any of this!"

"... Is he a good person? Do people like him?" I asked

She moved her body closer to mine "Open my locket"

"What does that have to do with my question?"

"Just Open it" She said

I did what she said. The picture that was in the locket made me smile. It was a picture of YN and this girl holding hands and YN has kissed the girl on the cheek just as the picture was taken. "YN is the best guy I've even met. And a lot of people really like him. I'm a good example of it... I love him"

What she said caught me off guard a bit "You love him?"

She nodded and blushed "W-We're kind of dating" she said timidly

"What's your name?" I asked

"Ruby Rose"

I looked at the picture again "Well Ruby he seems to like being with you so that's all that matters" just as I said that the base started to rumble

YN's POV
I woke up to the sound of Yang yelling in a panic "Ruby?!"

I quickly sat up and looked to her sleeping bag and it was empty "Grab your weapons. Your leader may be in trouble" Obleck said

We ran down the stairs of the building and we ran out into the street and found a large hole in the ground and we found Ruby's scythe lying on the ground near the hole "Ruby's scythe!" Yang yelled

I ran over to it "This is bad! Ruby would never willingly leave Crescent Rose behind she knows she's terrible at hand to hand" I said picking up Crescent Rose

"Do you think she fell? Down there?" Weiss said

Obleck inspected the hole"Of course! of course! Of course!" He said

"What is it?" Blake asked

"How could I be so stupid" He yelled

"Doctor Obleck what's wrong?" Yang asked

"Mountain Glenn an expansion of Vale that was inevitably taken over by creatures of Grimm previously home to thousands of people, Working people commuting to the main city developed a subway system to the inner city Grimm attacks increase population in danger now desperately in need of shelter everyone evacuates into metro tunnels and what do they find! The southeast quadrant of Vale is known for vast forests and deep caves" Obleck said quickly dashing between me, Yang, Weiss, Blake and Zwei

"Doc what are you saying" Yang said

"We're not just looking for an underground crime network we're looking for an underground crime network!"

"They've been working in caves?!" Blake asked

"No no Mountain Glenn was Vale's first serious attempt at expansion. It worked for a short period of time thanks to an aggressive primitive defence and unique transportation the people developed an elaborate subway system designed to transport citizens into the main kingdom however without the many natural barriers Vale has to protect its borders Mountain Glenn was doomed from the start. As the end drew near the citizens of he territory made one last attempt at survival. The took up shelter in massive caves that they had cleared out for the subway cutting them selves off from the surface" Obleck explained

"An underground village?!" Yang said

"In a matter of speaking yes, a safe haven until and explosion opened the mouth of another cavern filled with subterranean Grimm after that the kingdom officially sealed off the tunnels creating the worlds largest tomb" He said as we all looked into the whole

"If Ruby is down there. We must find her" He said as his coffee mug transformed into a weapon
