YN's POV
Both me and Ruby were sitting at one of the various tables that had already been set up in the ball room. We were both just sitting there kind of dejected and in silence. Weiss walked up to us and asked Ruby which table cloth we should use showing her two that were literally the exact same. Weiss walked off in a huff after Ruby pointed out that they were both the same then Yang walked near us and put down a giant speaker that she was just carrying like it was nothing. When she set it down it made a loud noise and the impact made Me, Ruby, the chairs we were sitting on and the table we were at all bounce up into the air for a second and we just sat there unfazed by it. Yang then walked up to us

"So you picked out a dress for the dance yet?" She asked Ruby winking at me

"What's the point? Who cares about the dance if Blake's not going?" Ruby said and Yang looked shocked

"Wait you're not going?! Come on YN back me up" she said

I sighed "Sorry Yang. Sure were a couple but neither me or Ruby are really the dancy type"

"You to?!" She said

"You're asking two socially awkward people to break out of their shell for a night while Blake still sulks about the White Fang" I said resting my head on the table again

"Well if Blake we're going would you to come to?" Yang asked

I looked at Ruby and she shrugged her shoulders "Sure, I guess?" I said

"Well don't worry you two she will be coming to the dance" Yang said confidently

Yang then turned her attention to Weiss "Weiss I thought we agreed no doilies!" She said

"If I can't have doilies then you can't have fog machines!" She said walking over to Yang

(AN:What the fuck are doilies?!)

Neptune and Sun then walked in "Your dance is gonna have fog machines?" Neptune asked

Weiss' opinions on the fog machine idea suddenly changed "We were thinking about it"

"That's pretty cool" he responded

"You ladies all excited for dress up" Sun said

"Pfft yeah right" Ruby said

"Laugh all you want I'll be turning heads tomorrow night" Yang said confidently

"What are you two wearing?" Weiss asked

"Ummm this" Sun said pointing to what little of a shirt he had

"Ignore him for he knows not what he says" Neptune said stepping in front of Sun

"Hey I may have moved to Mistral but I grew up in Vaguo it's not exactly a shirt and tie kind of place" Sun said stepping past Neptune

"Yeah, We noticed" I said

"Sooo what does Blake think of all this? She still being all you know Blake-y?" Sun said

"Obviously" Weiss said

"I still can't think of a way to change her mind" Ruby said resting her head on her hand

"My idea is still on the table" I say

"No your idea is stupid" Weiss retorted

"Look I don't see any of you coming up with better ideas. So either someone thinks of something better or we need to find a lot of tuna really freaking quickly" I responded

"We're not doing that YN besides we don't need to. Blake will be at the dance tomorrow" Yang said confidently again before walking off

Timeskip to walking in the courtyard with Ruby
Me and Ruby were just walking and talking in the courtyard while holding hands. We had eventually ended the conversation and were just walking in silence before I brought up a topic "So your sister seemed pretty confident that she could get Blake to come to the dance"

"Yeah" she responded

"Yang will be really disappointed if we don't go won't she?" I said

"Yeah. And we share the same dorm as her so it's not like we could escape and let her cool down"

"Yeah" I said

"...Do you wanna go?" I asked

"I guess, I don't know how to dance though" she said a little embarrassed

"It's ok I can help you" I said smiling

"You know how to dance? I thought you said you weren't the dancy type" Ruby asked suppressing some laughs

"I may not like dancing but I never said I didn't know how. Trust me growing up with Scarlet and Maple I knew how to dance before I knew how to fight" I said and she giggled

"I'll take your word for it" she said still giggling a bit

There were a few moments of silents "I just hope that Yang can convince Blake to come" Ruby says

"It won't feel right if she isn't there" she continued

"I trust Yang's abilities she should do fine" I said

"Me too" she said with a smile

Timeskip to the Night of the dance
"Who invented ties and why?!" Sun said angrily as I straightened his tie

"It's barely even tightened so stop whining" I said finally getting it to work

"There done, see you later" I said annoyed and walking out of the room

I made my way to the team RWBY dorm and started to take deep breaths as I got closer. I was wearing a Black suit with a red tie and FC detaining. I walked up to the door and knocked and a few seconds later Ruby opened the door. I took my time to look at her and she looked adorable she wasn't wearing her hood for a change she was wearing a dark red dress that had black fabric around the waist and abdomen area of the dress. What was weird about this was that she was slightly taller than she was this morning. I looked down and saw that Ruby was wearing heels and seemed to be having trouble standing up. "Hi Rubes" I said

"Hi YN"

"You look really cute" I said with a smile and she blushed

"Thanks, you clean up nicely YN" she said and I blushed this time

"I try" I said as I held her hand and helped her out of the dorm

We started walking down the hall slowly so Ruby could get to grips with wearing heels "Hey Ruby" I said

"Yeah YN" She said stumbling around

"I got you something a while back and thought that now would be a good time to give it to you"

"You didn't have to do that YN"

I reached into my pocket and pulled out a silver heart shaped locket that looked almost identical to mine only instead of it saying "LN" on it it said "Rose". I smiled at her and handed it to her. She gasped as she took it "YN I love it" she said

"Open it" I responded

She opened it and her eyes lit up. The picture inside the locket was a picture we had Velvet take of us on our first date. It was me and her in the courtyard holding hands and just before the picture was taken I kissed her on the cheek.

She smiled and hugged me almost falling into me from forgetting she was wearing "Lady stilts" as she called them "Thank you YN I love it" she said

I helped her clasp the necklace around her neck and we continued on our way. After awhile I realized that if we continued at this pace we would arrive by next semester so I did the logical thing and picked Ruby up bridal style. It is a good thing her dress is knee length because that means I can comfortably hold her and keep the bottom of the dress from showing anything to random passers by. Ruby blushed and pushed her head into my chest to hide her red face as I chuckled. We eventually made it to the ballroom and I put Ruby down so that we could walk in. We walked in a instantly saw Yang in a white dress "Ohh you look adorable" she said jumping up and down as her voice got slightly higher as the sentence went on

"Can we have a serious conversation about how Weiss fights in these?" Ruby said still trying to get used to walking in heels as I held one of her hands keeping her steady

Yang just laughed in response and then noticed the locket "Since when do you wear necklaces Ruby?" She asked

"Since YN got me one I like. I guess this one is the exception to my not liking jewelry" she said playing with it between her index finger and thumb

We made our way to a table and sat down. A few minutes later Blake entered with Sun beside her. We watched Yang and Blake dance and then Yang curtsied and let Sun take over before walking over to me, Ruby and Weiss "I told you she would come" Yang said

"Mission accomplished" Weiss said

"So what do we do now?" Ruby asked

"Just have fun!" Yang said excited and walking away

"Does that mean I can change our of these stupid things and into my hood now?!" She said to the walking away Weiss and Yang who didn't respond

"Stupid lady stilts" She grumbled and I giggled

I grabbed Ruby's hand and started walking over to the dance floor. "We have to have at least one dance together tonight" I said as I placed her hands around my neck and I placed mine on her hips

"But why? Can't we just stay at a table?" she asked

"You and I both know Yang is watching us so if you want to be the one to tell her we didn't dance tonight then be my guest" I said with a smirk

"Good point" she mumbled

We danced for a bit longer and Ruby was better than expected I told her to treat this kinda like a battle between two people and that seemed to help for some reason. Then the song ended and we made our way to the second floor with some punch. We stood at the railing watching all the people enter and dance and played a game where we made stupid conversations between people we saw. As we looked around I saw Yang sitting alone and she looked kinda down. "I'm gonna go talk to your sister real quick" I said

"Oh ok, I guess" Ruby said as I walked down the stares

I made my way to Yang and sat beside her "So What's got the great Yang Xiao Long down?" I asked sarcastically trying to lighten the mood

"Oh, it's nothing" she said smiling

"You seemed so excited for this dance but you seem sad now? So what's up Yang?" I asked

She sighed "I can trust you right?" She asked quietly

"I trusted you with a lot of things including my crush on Ruby so it only seems fair I return that trust" I said with a smile

She still seemed hesitant to say what was on her mind "Yang I won't tell anybody you don't want me to Not even Ruby" I said reassuring

She sighed again "Well umm"

She looked at Blake and Sun dancing then sighed again and I got the vague message "So is it Blake or Sun that you were staring at" I asked with a slight smirk

"What?!... how do you know that's why I was looking at them" she said blushing slightly

"I'm all to familiar with that look Yang, it's the look I used to give Ruby before we started dating. So which one were you looking at?"

She looked down "...B-B-Blake" she said quietly

"So does Ruby know you feel this way about Blake?" I ask and she shakes her head no

"Alright, So what are you gonna do about it" I ask

"I don't know, I don't even know if she likes me or if she even likes girls that way" Yang said worried and looking at me

She looked down at the floor again and I watched Blake and Sun dance. I understood why Yang was sad but then I noticed something that made me smile while I watched the two dance "Hey Yang watch Blake and Sun dance for a bit" I said smiling at her

"Why? You know how it makes me feel" she said

"Just trust me on this" I said and she started watching

I had noticed that every time Blake had a chance to casually look at Yang she was and it seemed to be the times that she would smile the most. She seemed to sway so Suns back was always to Yang making Blake be able to look at her from a distance as much as possible. Her eyes looked like Yangs when she was talking about Blake a while ago and mine before I confessed to Ruby. I could tell Yang hadn't picked up on this yet so I decided to point it out for her "Have you seen it yet?" I asked

"Seen what? That she's happier around Sun" she said looking at the ground again

I smiled "No that's not it"

She then looked at me confused "Than what is it?"

"Every chance Blake gets she looks at you and tries look at you for as long as possible"

"Your point?" She said

I sighed and stood up "I can only explain so much to you Yang without telling you the whole picture. Just ask her to dance the next chance you get" I say as I walk off

I looked back and Yang looked confused "She'll understand eventually" I thought. I walked back up to Ruby as she ended a conversation with Jaune. "What's up Rubes?" I said walking back up to her

"Nothing Talked with Ozpin, Talked with Jaune what did you and Yang talk about?" She asked

"Nothing Just talked to her about how good this dance was going" I said

"Oh yeah I should probably tell her that too" Ruby said

I looked around for Yang for a bit before finding her and smiling "You might need to wait a while" I said pointing to Yang dancing with Blake

We talked for a while longer before Yang made her way up to us and Yang spoke "You know I think we really needed this"

"Yeah and you did a really good job planning it too" Ruby said

"Aww Thanks" Yang said pulling Ruby into a one arm hug as Ruby flailed her arms desperately trying to escape

"But it wasn't all me though Weiss did a lot too" Yang said and Ruby stopped flailing

Yang sighed "Tomorrow it's back to work"

"Well I'm sure we can handle anything that gets thrown at us" Ruby said

"Except for that" I said pointing down at Jaune wearing a dress

"Ruby what did you do?" I asked looking up at her

"Nothing I swear!" she said trying not to laugh

We than watched all of Team JNPR break out into choreographed dance "What the actual hell" I said while watching this  

Yang ran down to join everyone dancing I looked at Ruby "we're leaving right?" She asked hoping I will say yes

"Yeah lets go before Yang ropes us into this" I say holding her hand and walking out

We made our way out and noticed a women jumping from roof to roof making her way to the CCT building. We looked at each other and nodded before making our way over to the building. We walked up and noticed a guard unconscious and poorly hidden in a shrub. We then pulled out our scrolls and called our weapons before entering the building. We took the elevator up to a control room and slowly walked in "Hello! Is anyone there?!" Ruby said stumbling in her heels as she walked

We continued to walk as Ruby called out Hello a few more times until a woman with black hair and a black body suit wearing a black masquerade mask

"Excuse me" Ruby said as the women came out of hiding

"You know it's not a masquerade party so why don't you take off that-" Ruby was interrupted by the woman used a capsule on her belt and made shards of weird fiery glass appear and flung it towards us.

Ruby blocked them and so did I as I started advancing towards her. Ruby fired a couple of shots to which the women blocked them with her bare hand. I went in for a strike from the side but she dodged out of the way and made two swords appear from nowhere. Ruby stumbled back pulling the head of her scythe out of the ground and shot her self towards us. She went for a strike but the girl dodged it and turned her swords into a bow and fired a few arrows at us making us step back. We all looked around then the elevator door opened revealing General Ironwood and Ruby smiled. We looked back to the woman but she was nowhere to be seen. "What are you two doing here?" Ironwood asked

"General Ironwood please you have to believe us there was a girl here. She knocked out the guards and we were fighting her but she ran off" Ruby explained

Ironwood sighed "You two stay there I will call Professor Ozpin"
