Enjoy!

You woke up to daylight slipping through the window blinds and somthing warm burning your back.

"Ruben?" You groaned and turned around to find your boyfriend sleeping peacefully beside you. The only problem was that his body was burning up. You put a hand to his forhead but quickly withdrew it. A quiet gasp left your mouth. "Ruben wake up. I think you've got a fever."

His eyebrows furrowed as you tried to stir him awake.

"Please wake up."

"My head." He groaned.

"I'll go downstairs and get the thermometer."

Ruben tried to move as you slipped out of bed. However he was too weak to even lay on his back.

You headed downstairs and returned with the thermostat, a glass of water and somthing for Rubens headache.

"Here baby, swallow this." You said, handing Ruben the small pill.

"What is it?" He struggled to open his eyes and look at you.

"Just swallow it baby, it will help with your headache."

Ruben manage to take one look at the pill before curling his lip. "I don't need it." He muttered.

"Of course you don't." You sighed. Ruben hated appearing weak. Pain was something he was taught to endure, however right now you were worried that things were going to get worse unless he let you take care of him.

"Baby please. Do it for me?"

He sighed, but stretched out his hand for you to put the pill in.

"Thank you." You bent down to kiss his cheek, then left Ruben to rest as you got dressed and headed back downstairs. You arrange with your boss so that you could work from home for the day. Somthing told you that you would have to keep an extra eye out for Ruben who hated being sick.

It was all going well. Ruben was sleeping peacefully upstairs whilst you prepared to bring him his meal. Then all of a sudden you heard a loud thud above your head, like somthing being dropped to the floor.

"Ruben?"

You dropped everything and rushed towards the stairs.

"Ruben what is...?" You stopped in the frame of your bedroom door, shook by the scene you were met with. His clothes were scattered across the floor and drawer boxes had been pulled out from their frames. Ruben sat on the floor in the middle of the room, tugging at a pair of man city socks to go onto his feet.

"Ruben?" You addressed him in your calmest most patient voice. "Why are you getting dressed in your training gear?"

"Oh hey baby. " Ruben turned his head, suprised to see you. "Didn't know you were coming to watch me today. Did Bernardo drive you here?"

"Um...no sweetie, he didn't." You approached him slowly, clearly Ruben had been strucked by a feverish daze of some sort, because he never left for training dressed in his gear, he would always change clothes at the training grounds, and besides, Ruben wasn't leaving anywhere today with a 40 degrees fever.

"Ruben do you know where you are right now?" You knelt down before him. His gaze remained on his feet where he was still struggling with his left sock. His forhead was dabbed with sweat but his body trembled a little as he shivered.

"Ruben? I said, do you know where you are right now?" You stretched out a hand to touch him but Ruben jumped back, eyes full of fear.

"Hey. It's just me." You said, holding up your hands before you. "Your girlfriend."

"My girlfriend?" He frowned.

"Yes, your girlfriend. Please tell me you haven't forgotten about me?" You chuckled.

Something about your smile made his face mellow.

"My girlfriend." He repeated, as if testing to see if they fitted into his current narrative.

You flinched as he dropped the socks and stood.

"Ruben." You gasped. He stumbled backwards, struggling to find his balance.

"Baby, you have to go back to bed." You stood up and grabbed his arm, tugging at it to force him to sit down. However Ruben was bigger than you, much bigger. In the end all you could do was make sure that he didn't fall over where he stood.

"Oh Ruben." You said. He looked so pale and so confused. Perhaps he wasn't used to feeling this weak, this disoriented.

"Y/N." He said, voice quiet.

"Yes baby?"

"I don't feel so good." He sat down on the edge of the bed, facing you as you moved to stand before him.

"I know baby, I know."

Slowly you tugged at the hem of his Manchester jersey, pulling it over his head. For a second you thought he'd fight back, but Ruben only tilted his head to watch you helped him undress.

"I think a shower might help you feel a little better. Don't you think?"

Ruben nodded his head. "Yes."

You help him to the bathroom, twisting the knobs to turn on the water. You thought a cold shower might help with his fever daze.

"I'll be downstairs if you need me." You said, before turning around to leave the bathroom. Ruben's hand around your wrist stopped you from going any further.

"Is something wrong baby?" You asked. Ruben was looking down at you with furrowed brows.

"Don't leave." He said.

"I'll be right downstairs." You reassured.

"Can't you stay here? Shower with me?"

Your lips twitched into a smile. "Ruben, I'm afraid the water is going to be too cold for me to bare."

"Then turn the heat back up." He protested.

You shook your head. "No baby, it's needs to be cold. It will help with your fever."

Ruben frowned. "Then I don't want to shower."

"Ruben." You gasped. He was still holding onto your wrist, refusing to let you go. "Baby?" You tilted your head, bringing a hand to caress his cheek. He closed his eyes feeling your touch.

"Can't I just go back to bed."

You shook your head. "No. But..." He would do it for you, you thought and removed your shirt, pulling it over your head. Ruben had often gone out his way to care of you whenever you were sick. You should do the same for him.

There was a draft as you stepped out of your pajama shorts, leaving you to stand before him in the nude.

Rubens gaze wandered up and down you body, but he shamefully turned his head once you caught him starting at you.

"It's okay baby. You can look." Somthing about his current illness made him less comfortable with you, but you were suprised that he let you pull down his sweats along with his underpants. You led him into the shower with your back to the water. You jumped a little as the cold sensation slid down your body.

"Sorry." You whispered as your sudden reaction casued you to bump into Ruben, who still stood holding your hands.

"It's not too bad." You said, urging for him to step closer to the water. He groaned once the cold hit him. But once he adjusted to it his body relaxed.

"There, does it feel better?"

Ruben nodded and to your surprise, grabbed a hold of your waist, pulling you stand closer to him. You continued showering this way, with Rubens hands on your waist and you shampooing his hair. Once you were done you help him dry himself and put on clean clothes. Returning to the bedroom Ruben lay down on the bed to rest whilst you cleaned up the mess he had caused, as well as putting back the broken drawer into it's frame.

"Please stay" Ruben said once you brought him his lunch. He finnish the warm soup in almost one go.

"Ruben, I have to get started on the work on my computer." You said, setting his bowl of soup aside.

"Just until I go to sleep." He begged.

"Okay."

You crawled into the bed with him, cuddling up to his side. Rubens fever seemed to have gone down a bit and the warmth he cradled you with was far more comforting than it had been this morning.

"Is this okay?" He said as you felt his hand go to you waist, railing you in a bit.

"Of course Ruben."

You put your hand over his to reassure him, giving it a light squeeze.

"My head doesn't hurt anymore." He said, sounding like he was on the edge of falling asleep.

"That's good baby. You had me a bit worried there."

"Thank you for taking care of me." He muttered. Soon his breathing slowed down, caressing your neck. This time you were sure that Ruben had finally allowed himself to go to sleep.
