Sky's Wrath AU 🏵

What if instead of being sent further through the loop after fixing everything, Sabre was able to come back to the RQ world, but was almost killed by a last attack by the First Curse (somehow)? And the Sky People were finally able to show themselves, but were the ones that found him first?Sabre isn't actually dead from the attack, but is severely injured. This takes place a little after RQ Aftermath.

Alright, story time:

[Time's POV]

It had been a few months since Sabre disappeared, and everyone was rushing towards the blast heard in the forest. We know it wasn't normal, like a creeper or something, as the color of the blast was a dark magenta color. I'm with the Colorless Guard, led by Light, as we rush through the forest towards the disturbance.

We reach a clearing, and I'm both horrified and curious of what I see.

Spirit-like forms of many people, distorted and seemingly injured yet unbothered by the scars, some are even missing pieces of their body. However, they're all crying, a substance the color of fire pouring from their eyes. Some have a few of the same parts as animals like cats, some seem to glow with an unknown radiance, some are dark as the night of a New Moon, and so many others I cannot describe. There are both people only as tall as a tulip, and people that tower over the treelines among them.

There, lying in the hands of a giant one in the center of the group, is Sabre. Unconscious and severely injured, a mixture of blood and some kind of pinkish liquid covering his torso. The rest of him is left burned and bleeding. It seems the blast had hit him... who did this?

Light and the Guards freeze, as they follow me into the clearing. They also seem mystified by the presence of these creatures. Suddenly, they all look up at us, the two groups making eye contact with each other. The broken figures in front of us only give a cold, unyielding, miserable stare at first. Then, one steps forward and walks into the center of the clearing between the two groups, speaking.

"Why are you here..." It asks, its voice echoing and ethereal.

Light steps in front of me, meeting the unknown person in the center a few feet away from them.

"I should ask you the same thing." He says. "And what are you doing with Sabre?"

"Why would you like to know?" The creature snaps at him. "It's not like you'd cared before."

"What?" Light says, confused as everyone else.

"We've been watching. We've been watching the whole time he was here, his journey." It says. "We have watched over him, and we've seen what you and your people have done... when he showed kindness, you used it without giving back. When he threw himself into danger to protect your peoples' lives, you only ran. And when he sacrificed everything to defend against threats you didn't bother to ask about... you left him to die."

As everyone hears their words, we realize; these people all look a little like Sabre. They're all different, sure, but they all share a similar appearance to him.

"Who exactly are you, to say these things?" Light says, taking a defensive tone.

"The ones you should've known of long ago." It answers. "For centuries, we had been watching over Sabre, a dear friend to us. Centuries of looking through worlds, trying to find somewhere he can hide from those who wish to hurt. When he arrived here, everything seemed okay. We thought he would finally be safe. However, as soon as there is a need for someone to blame, you abandoned him. And for what? Because he isn't one of you?"

All of the spirit-like beings look angrier, including the one in front of us. Markings like cinders appear on their skin, as if they were about to burst into flames. The one in front of us steps closer, and Light and the Guards draw their swords. The creature scoffs.

"We're clearly bodyless already, idiots. Your blades do not scare us."

"Guys, I think you're just making them angry..." I whisper. It seems the other group heard me.

"That one's smart. He's correct, you know." The being in front of us says.

Suddenly, flames appear in its hands, as the ground around it burns.

"And we're already pretty ticked off."

The Guards, Light, and I back up. The being continues their words, as we raise our shields in case of attack.

"For too long, you have mistreated the one dear to us to the point of no return. You have no idea what he means to us, and how much you've broken him down."

As it raises its hands into the air, a smoke the color of smoldering ashes surrounds the group.

"And as retaliation for your actions," It says. "You must face the wrath of the sky."

Everything disappears in a cloud of the strange smoke, the creatures taking Sabre with them. Looking around for a moment, we don't see anything. Then, I look to the sky as I feel the air around me getting warmer.

It's turning blood red. We don't have time to think before we start getting burned for an unknown reason.

Light yells for us to run, and we all book it towards the village again, screams filling the air. I can't tell if it's our group, or other people in different areas screaming. We run for what feels like hours, when we reach a cave, and rush into it for shelter from whatever is happening out there. Everything stings. I look at my injuries, and see that I'm singed all over. Confused, I look outside to see what did this out there, and what I see is a true horror.

"What in the name of Origin...?" I hear Light mumble.

It's raining fire.
