Got the idea for this one after listening to The Living Tombstone's 'Grim Grinning Ghosts' :>
So here, Sabre is a sort of anchor or host for the Sky People, who are all ghosts. What happened is that they all used to live in a town together, but one night it was visited by a maniac magic user that thought it would be fun to raze the town during the fall solstice, which is one of the times when the line between the dead and living is the most unstable.
Sabre ended up being the only survivor of the ordeal, but the magic user still found him just before sunrise was about to begin, he and decided to have a bit more fun with him before leaving. Taking all of the newly lost souls of the people, the magic user blind all of those souls to Sabre's, making it so a piece of Sabre's soul was attached to every Sky Person. This means that until all of the Sky People decide to move on, Sabre can't really die. Or at least, he can't leave the mortal plane properly. If something tried to forcefully drag him into the afterlife, he'd be snapped back to the living world soon enough like a rubber band being held by two people suddenly being let go on one side.
Because of how abruptly everything ended, the Sky People don't want to move on, and Sabre doesn't want to die either. Because their home is gone, Sabre and the Sky People decide to wander around the world, seeing what they never could and maybe try to find the person that did this to them while they're at it. Shenanigans and hijinks ensue for quite a long time.
Until of course, Sabre stumbles upon a tomb one day.
Now, very soon after Sabre arrives in the Realm, it becomes very obvious that the Sky People are with him. We are not that subtle, and the Sky People don't need any permission or anything to become visible and all that other stuff ghosts do. They just listen to Sabre when he tells them to take it down a notch. So right off the bat, the Sky People would be introducing themselves to the characters and messing with the Darkness.
Here are some more details:
- Sabre wears a blindfold because his eyes are a very, very light blue color, and they're cloudy as if he was already dead. This tends to creep people out (and it gives him away as the source of all the paranormal activity), so he figured he'd cover his eyes with something to avoid that.
- Sabre has two sides. One is his normal self, just much more chill, nonchalant, and relaxed than his canon self because keeping the Sky People in line tires him out. The other is what happens when the Sky People are frenzied and he loses control a bit, using his own paranormal abilities. His blindfold usually comes off during this for... coolness factor reasons, idk. Because of the whole 'soul is split among many ghosts' thing being caused by that crazed magic user, this side of Sabre acts more like said magic user; A bit crazy and very dangerous.
Sabre can reign everything back in if he gets enough focus, otherwise somebody else is going to have to calm down the Sky People in order to get him to snap out of it. He doesn't have any memory of what happened afterwards if it's a case where he needs other people to calm down the Sky People, unable to snap out of it himself.
- Sabre's mere presence makes the Blue Steves question their existences. They sense way too much coming from one person. They also can't really sense his soul that well because it's split between so many other souls.
- Y'know how ghosts get when somebody messes with something they care about? There are many instances like that with the Sky People, mostly involving somebody messing with Sabre.
- The Sky People have a radius as to how far they can wander away from Sabre. It's a pretty big distance, sure, they can get out of each other's sight if the Sky People go far enough. But eventually they'll be tugged back towards Sabre if they try to go any further.
- While the Darkness Arc does sort of happen, instead of Sabre being completely infected, Sabre and the Sky People lose it because of so many of his friends dying and Sabre being unable to process his grief, plus lots of anger at Void. The Darkness infecting him (which makes Shadow) makes him 'stuck' in his crazed state, the Sky People constantly in a frenzy as well.
Sabre ends up wandering around the Realm, a tornado of Sky People ghosts always surrounding him. Shadow keeps fueling the spirits' blind rage with never shutting up until eventually the darkness loses its grip on Sabre and he finally calms down.
Situations time :D
———
(Sabre meeting a Blue Steve)
Sabre: Hello!
Blue Steve: (sensing bits of his soul literally everywhere around them) What are you.
—
(How much of a problem it is when the Sky People accidentally make Sabre go cuckoo)
Rainbow: (helping during a fight) Sabre told me the Sky People can get a little bit rowdy sometimes, but it can't be that bad, right?
(Sky People go nuts over something. Sabre tries to keep it together, but soon the blindfold has come off and he's laughing maniacally as he makes a few Darkness float and is throwing them around like dolls.)
Rainbow: ...Uh oh.
—
(During one of the times Sabre goes nuts because of the Sky People, and Time and Elemental are there.)
Time: (pointing at ghost chaos) What is that?!
Rainbow: Those are the ghosts we told you about! This is them making Sabre lose it, and we need to calm them down before-
Ele: (Having snuck up behind Sabre, he sucker punches him in the back of the head, knocking him out.)
(Silence as the Sky People suddenly stop and stare at him.)
Ele: Problem solved!
(Sky People start moving closer to him, looking even more ticked off)
Ele: ...nevermind. New problem.
—
(Insert the Sky People messing with the villains any chance they get)
—
Sabre: (finally snapping out of his crazed state after Void tried to infect him with Darkness) What happened-?
The Steves: (Noticing a distinct lack of screeches of the condemned, carefully peeking out of hiding spots) Is- Is it over? Is he done??
—
Another one soon, baiii :3
