(If this has been done in a different fandom that some of you know about, it's purely coincidence, I only heard that this is a kinda common AU thing done in other fandoms after I thought of it-)

The idea for this AU is that Sabre has these flowers that grow around his body, mostly over his face. These flowers are mostly harmless, however if he's under a lot of stress at one time, the flowers start becoming harmful and hurt Sabre from the inside using their roots while they grow out of control.

The flowers can't be pulled out or anything, as their roots are embedded and grew into Sabre's skin. They can't be cut off either, because they will just grow back and cutting through the stems of the flowers is painful for Sabre (don't question why). The most Sabre can do to keep the flowers from hurting him is making sure he doesn't stress out too much, and tend to the flowers by getting them sunlight and water as he doesn't know what will happen if they wither and die, but has come close to that happening before and it wasn't a good experience. By the time RQ starts, Sabre doesn't really mind caring for the flowers, as he got very used to doing so over the years.

What I meant by the flowers growing out of control in the first paragraph is that when Sabre gets too stressed out, the flowers will start growing very rapidly, as their vines become long and thorny while many more buds and blooms of the flowers appear. The growth is a bad thing because the flowers draw energy from Sabre to sustain themselves, so if there are many more of them than usual... you can probably guess what happens.

Sabre will look mostly normal, even still having the blindfold, but the flowers take up a large part of him; They cover the blindfold slightly, a lot of flowers peek through his hair, some vines and blooms crawl along the left side of his face, cover half of his neck, more vines covered in flowers creep down his arms and wrap around his sleeves, and a few vines hang off his back. As for changes to his personality, really the only ones are that he's tired all the time because of the flowers taking his energy, and he's more cautious because of how he's gotten used to being careful because of the flowers.

Of course, many of the villains of RQ will use the flowers growing around Sabre to their advantage in battle. Examples being:

- Rainbow Red/Reverse makes Rainbow go with him into the catacombs by suddenly grabbing Sabre and grasping the vines, threatening to pull them out if they didn't comply.

- Nightmare doesn't kill Sabre with lighting during that one part of an episode, but rather reaches for the vines growing around Sabre's head and yanking them out, which broke his skull open in the process, killing Sabre instantly as the flowers' roots pulled apart his brain (brutal, I know :>).

- Sabre always has to watch out for fireballs, as if the flowers catch fire, so will he easily... unfortunately the villains guess this.

- Sabre can't run for very long because of the previously mentioned energy stealing, so he often finds places to hide rather than running away. The villains set up traps to where Sabre is trapped somewhere and can't hide, because of this.

I see many opportunities for angst in this AU  >:3
