Hey everyone! Here's the first one shot of this book! And one of my first one shot in English ever, so sorry if it sucks :P

Enjoy~

(I guess it's special since its Valentine day... Oh well)

Everything around you was drowned in dizzy darkness. You could barely see before your feet. All the neons on the ceiling broke at the same time earlier, about a minute ago. Now, you were engulfed into absolute obscurity, crouched behind one of the desks, alone and scared.

At the very least, you knew where you were. In class 3-C, on the third floor, in which you entered in hope to find a refuge. To hide from the hell that had been dropped on this school a few hours ago. Entering the class was yet another possibility, but it turned out to be as empty as the other rooms, and you took advantage of the tranquility to get a couple minute's rest.  Sadly, you hadn't encountered a living thing since the beginning of all this.

For dead stuff, that was another story. Zombies, ghosts, things that you would have never guessed existed before today, kept appearing and scaring you out of your mind.

Crawled up in the corner of the room, you waited for your sentence, for the thing that would cause your death. It had to come: nowhere was safe in this school. Obviously, you weren't going to survive for long.

"Can someone tell me what have I done ?" you mumbled, your voice almost inaudible.

Suddenly, your ears caught the faint noise of footsteps outside the class. They sounded precipitated like someone was running in the hallway. 'It smelled me...!' you realized in abject horror. 'That thing out there knows I'm here !'

There was nothing else in the hallway except the door to the roof and the one leading to the classroom you were in right now. And except if that thing wanted to commit suicide, it was pretty obvious that it was heading towards the class.

When you started to hear the door's handle turning, you covered your eyes. You didn't want to look at what was about to kill you, and certainly not beg for mercy. If you were about to die, you wanted it to be quick. So you took a deep breath and waited.

Because death wasn't what really scared you. Pain was.

So you waited. One, two, three seconds. The door was obviously opened, but you heard nothing. What the hell happened? Did it not see you because of the darkness? Maybe it was blind, or something.

A voice suddenly rose from the silence, startling you. "(Y/n)?" it spoke your name.

Weirdly enough and against everything you possibly thought, you immediately recognized that voice. It was Aki's, your best friend. Finally, someone alive!

"Aki!" you shouted as you recognized him..
"Shhhh!" he cut you, a finger on his lips. "Do you want to bring all of them here?"

You understood and mumbled a quick 'sorry', but you were too glad to finally see someone, especially Aki. He had always been the most courageous of you both. Without adding a thing, you stood up and ran, engulfing him into a hug.

"I thought I was about to die..." you whispered, holding him tightly. "Thank you so much."
He sighed. "You always need to be saved..." a smile was visible on his lips.
"Hey! That's so not true!"

He patted your head slightly, and you could hear him chuckle over your head.

"Is everything fine?" Aki suddenly asked as he broke your embrace, looking at you with a worried look. "You're not hurt?"
"Well, I got some cuts and bruises, but nothing really bad."
"You sure?"
"Hey, I can take care of myself!" you complained, pouting.

He nodded. "We really should get going, though... This place isn't safe."
"And you know a place that would be safe, maybe?" you asked with a hint of sarcasm.

You were making fun of him now, but deep inside, you were really hoping he was going to say he did know where to hide.

"Um... Not really." he replied, wandering a hand into his auburn hair. "But if we stay together, we'll be more likely to survive." he ended up saying.
"You're right..."

You knew him well enough to recognize his discomfort. He wasn't so persuasive in his words, but he sure wanted to believe it. Both of you were friends since kindergarten, and you were pretty well acquainted with each other, knowing each other's flaws and fears.

Even though, you had a relationship that you yourself couldn't describe. It was more than friendship, but surely not love. You weren't able to put a word on it, like it was some abstract concept or something. Eventually, it was just too troublesome to think about, and you chose to push the thought to the far back of your mind.

Aki abruptly drew you out fo your thoughts."Come on, let's get moving. I don't want you." he stopped for half a second "-huh, us, to be killed."

Even if he corrected himself, you perfectly heard his words, and it made you blush. 'I hope he isn't going to notice in the dark..' you thought as you felt your face heating up. 'But it's not the time for this...' you reminded yourself, covering your face with your hands.

You then started following Aki into his quest. He explained you everything, Misao's curse and that reason why he was carrying around human body parts in a bag. It was truly hard to believe, and even less realistic. But in the state the school was currently into, you were honestly ready to believe anything.

As you were walking in the first-floor hallway, Aki suddenly pushed you into the closest room and firmly closed the door shut.

"I heard something." he explained with a low voice in answer to your unspoken question.

You didn't even dare to argue, knowing that if he was worried like that, he wasn't joking. But it was even more convincing when you suddenly heard a chainsaw's roaring right outside the door.

"What the-" you started.
"I don't know what is this, but I surely know that it's dangerous." Aki declared, wandering around the room to find something that'll keep the door shut.
"How?" you kept asking questions. "I mean, I know it has a chainsaw, but-"
"It killed Yoshino."

Okay, that was convincing enough. You immediately shut your mouth and sat up against the corner, letting the surprising information sink in your brain. Yoshino was dead. You never really liked her, neither agreed with her actions, but it made you sad in a way. You never wanted for anyone to actually die.

Finally, after a minute or two, the noise faintly started to vanish, and everything quickly became silent again.

"We were lucky on this one." you mumbled with a smile.
"Yeah..."

Aki was still looking through the door, to make sure there wasn't any danger around.

"Maybe we should... get out?" you pondered with a small voice. "I don't want to be trapped in here if that thing comes back."

No answer. He looked totally concentrated on to something. Even if he wasn't looking through the door anymore. He was kind of just... there, drawn in his own thoughts.

"Aki?"

You saw him jump in surprise, and he quickly turned around. He eventually walked up to you, and without a word, he grabbed your shoulder and stared right into your (e/c) eyes) with an expression you had yet to see on his face. "Look (Y/n)... I have something to tell you." he admitted.

"Um... Go ahead." you nodded, perplexed.
"I know this isn't the moment... Well it is but..."

He sighed, and took a deep breath before looking in your eyes again. 'What is he saying...' you thought to yourself. You were really hoping this place didn't drive him crazy or anything.

"Right now, my priority is to protect your life, no matter what. And I feel like it's worthier than my own life. And I don't know why, but..."

Aki stopped talking again, as you were holding your breath. Was he really implying that...

"(Y/n), I love you." he finally announced, like he had a weight on his shoulder and suddenly just dropped it off.

For a couple of seconds, you didn't even know how to react to that. You were just looking at him, kind of surprised that he was telling you about it just now. You had known him for all these years, but you never even dared to imagine this kind of scenario from him.

So it was love, indeed. Your mother used to make fun of you and Aki, saying that you two were made for each other. You always brushed it off, saying she didn't understand you. Maybe that you were the clueless one, after all.

You threw yourself into Aki's arms, taking him by surprise as you laid your head on his shoulder.

"I love you too Aki."

You didn't need to look at his face to know he was smiling. You heard a light chuckle and felt a pair of soft lips on your forehead.

"And no matter what, know that I'll always stay by your side..." he whispered.

And for five long minutes, you two remained sitting in the corner of the room, holding onto each other's arms, without saying a word. There was no need to say anything. The moment was perfect, even if outside, hell possibly awaited you. It felt like a relief, separating you from everythinbg else. You were happy.

That is, until a zombie entered the room.

In less than a second, Aki had his baseball bat out and he turned around, smashing the creature which fell headless to the ground. He turned toward you and smiled.

"Told ya I would protect you, right?" he chuckled.

He lent you a hand, that you eagerly took to get up on your feet.

"Now, let's find these body parts, and get outta here!"
"Yeah!" you answered with a smile.

He kissed you lightly, and quickly turned around to kick the door's room open.
