Roleplay Idea #1

Hey guys, I was thinking of some ideas at work and I wanted to have this one documented. It stood out to me somehow, and I kind of think it would be a great either story or Roleplay. Let me know if you want to see it as either, or if it's just better as a short story.

Every night I saw him. A cocky smirk twisted on his mouth and the same blurred words. What they were, I could never remember once I woke up, but he would say them and his eyes would twinkle as if he'd made a clever joke.

Every night I was drawn to him, his presence stirring my sleep but as soon as I gained some form of consciousness, he was gone. His tan face and deep dark wood eyes taunted me. It was a good trap to say the least.

I had a vague idea of what it was, but why would a witch receive a protecter? I can protect myself perfectly fine, but it still felt like that wasn't it. Whispers filled my afternoon, pleasant voices giggling and making my magic spark around me. It was dangerous.

I was dangerous.

I didn't tell my circle, I couldn't. How would that even sound? "Hey guys, so a voice has been whispering to me and an extremely hot monster keeps appearing in my dreams and chatting something I can never remember." Yup, that would totally get me either kicked out or hanged to get the 'evil' out. Or whatever.

This afternoon was no exception. My familiar snarled and barked at the whispers but did nothing helpful. With a deep breath, I pet Pan and hoped that tomorrow would be a better day. I always hoped that.

I got up and out of my hut, a cozy little thing. It wasn't huge, not like the Old Mother's, but I had enough room for a hammock and a few shelves where I kept my clothes and supplies, which I needed to restock soon. I was running low on sage and roses, not to mention the star berries that grew this season.

I hushed Pan and walked into the town, the witches smiling and greeting me as they always did. Polite nods and courtesies, maybe the occasional, "Unity, sister." Unity, family bonds ran deep in our blood. Blood feuds and even blood curses passed down through blood.

The most interesting part, I think, is all the different familiars. Pigs and horses, dragon flies and snapping turtles, even sea horses were enchanted to fly and breathe air for the witch's convenience. It was a strange life, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

"Rhia!" Agni grinned and tackled me from behind, which I've learned to tolerate. He was still childish despite being 16 and being a year older than me. His name was no mistake either, his ginger hair seemed to be ablaze at all times and his meerkat, Ginger, always stayed close for the heat.

Cocky was what he was. He was the son of one of the purest blood families, but he still treated the peasants mostly as humans. At least he doesn't treat us like the last old mother did.

"Agni, unity. How are you?" I playfully pushed his tanned hand off my shoulder, but he was a bulky guy and I was a scrawny girl. He didn't let go.

"Old mother is going to perform a summoning spell! Come on, you can be my plus one!" He grinned at me smugly, his amber eyes dancing with confidence. My heart sank. The old mother's spells were beautiful, but she could never get close by, but the thought of loosing the dream man made her heart shatter.

But he was evil, and she had to remember that. No good person would force themselves into your dreams and invade your privacy over and over. I gathered my courage and nodded. "Alright, lets go then. Do you think you could help me carry my supplies back later?"

Agni frowned a bit. "You're going to perform a spell? What kind? And if you are why didn't you tell me? You know I'd be happy to help." The slight pout made me inwardly scoff. I finally managed to pry him off and stepped backward as I heard Pan rumble beside me.

"This is a personal spell, okay? I want to practice without you sticking your nosey head into It!" I could feel myself grimace and knew it was a bad move. Agni's eyes narrowed a bit before he closed them and shrugged.

"Fine, don't tell me your secrets, I'll find out on my own anyway. Come in, let's go watch the summoning spell!" He grabbed my hand and started running, his flames roaring with excitement as I stumbled after him in shock.

The townspeople looked on in confusion as this bulky, high class noble boy dragged a confused and stunned equivalent to a squirrel behind him. After a few minutes of this humiliating experience, we arrived at the circle and sat down.

Old Mother hobbled in with her two apprentices at her side. She smiled and whispered something, which the young blonde girl repeated louder. "Unity, brothers and sisters. We gather today to summon a witch from the realms of the dead and communicate with them."

The crowd was dead silent, not even a baby cried. Old Mother had that pretense, a serene calmness that washed over everyone. I found myself snuggling to the warmth of Angi as his flames calmed, the heat warming up his skin.

Ginger scampered onto Pan as Pan snapped at him irritably before laying his head down and scooting so he covered my feet with his long, lean body. The Old Mother began the chant as an array of rubies and emeralds gathered at the center of the circle where everyone sat, a figure rising from the now glowing beam of deep violet that shot to the sky. My heart dropped.

It was him, and with a simple smirk, I could feel myself tip foreword as my vision grew blurry. I couldn't fight it, so I just let it happen as Agni caught me in his arms and called out for help, but the warm embrace of Agni's arms and the gentle humming from the voices put me into a deep sleep.

The dream started again. "If you're the wolf, does that make me the moon?"
