Usually, he wouldn't be sitting in the dark and quiet office. Usually, he wouldn't be sitting in his chair, bored out of his mind. With nothing to do. Okay. Maybe the second thing was true. But, usually he'd have his favorite little blond to talk with. He'd sit on the couch, and tune others out as he took a moment to relax from the stress of the day. His golden hair would either be in a messy braid, or a messy ponytail. Either way, it would always be tied up or pulled back. If Roy couldn't talk to him face to face, there was always the telephone. But Ed hasn't called him for at least a week. The last time the two talked it was last Thursday. It was Tuesday now. Roy was starting to get a bit worried. Hawkeye walked into Roy's office. "Afternoon Sir. Here's your paperwork." She greeted. Roy let a soft sigh escape his lips. "Thanks Lieutenant." He replied. She nodded and walked out the room. Suddenly, the phone rang. The sky crackled with lightning and claps of thunder could be heard.

"Hello?" Roy asked as he picked up the phone. "Hey." Came the reply of his blond headed lover. For a minute, the lightning light up his office. "Took you long enough. I started to worry." Roy smiled. A small laugh was heard on the other side of the phone. "Roy Mustang actually worried about me? Of all people!" Ed teased. Roy smirked. "Well, I mostly worried about the fact that the desert winds would sweep you away, you know, cause of how small you are." He teased. Roy held the phone far away from his ear, knowing far to well that his blond would start yelling. "DON'T CALL ME LITTLE YOU BASTARD! I'M STILL GROWING!" He yelled. "Of course~. But it's your height that makes you so adorable~." Roy replied, in a flirtatious tone. He didn't even have to see Ed's face to know he was blushing. "Whatever bastard. Anyways, you better be doing your paper work." Ed grumbled. Roy nodded. "And you better not be destroying anything." Roy replied. "Yeah yeah, I get it." Ed sighed.  Roy smiled. "I love you." He said softly. Ed smiled himself. "I love you too." He replied. And so, their late night phone calls continued like this until Ed was home from his mission.
