Chapter 7 - Loss

Five years later....

The two kids grew and their features showed the genes of their father and mother. The two were running around playing catch in the garden.

"Yejung! Chanji! Who wants to go to the pool?" Byul called out to them from the door.

"ME!!!" The two chorused and ran towards their mother and crushed into her, the three of them laughing.

"Okay now let's get changed to your swimming suits and get your floats and we're good to go." She smiled at the two kids who cheered loudly then followed her upstairs.

"Okay safety first. Don't go to the deeper side okay? Stay where your feet can touch the ground." Byul squeezed their cheeks. She sat at the bench under the shade and watch them splash around. The pool was built in the Castle. Byul didn't know about it until Vernon brought the kids there without her knowing.

"Yejung-ah! Yejung! Yejung don't go any further! YEJUNG!" Byul screamed in horror as Yejung slipped off from the tube float that was originally around her body.

"YEJUNG! HELP! ANYONE! YEJUNG!" She screamed for help as she feared the water. Yejung was helplessly flailing her arms. A sudden nudge then sent Byul falling into the water.

She submerged deep into the waters and struggled to swim up in the 2 metres deep pool. She was lacking air as she made her efforts to go to the surface. From below she could see Yejung's body floating lifelessly. She got desperate and finally made it to the surface.

Just in time, Vernon showed up after hearing calls for help. He saw Soo Yeon biting her lips, looking as if she is worried. Deep inside were screams of victory. She noticed Vernon entering so she stretched her arm forward, asking Byul to grab it. Vernon pushed her aside and dived into the pool, holding on to his wife in his arms.

"Yejung! Yejung!" Byul tried to swim towards Yejung but Vernon pulled her away and sat her on the side and quickly swam away and held the child's body.

"Yejung. Yejung." He tried to shake her awake and performed CPR he learned during a first-aid class his mother wanted him to take.

"Yejung, don't scare me like this please. Wake up Yejung." Byul cried.

"I'm sorry... She's gone." The doctor apologetically bowed in condolences.

"Yejung.. My baby. My precious child. She's not dead. She can't be. No.." Byul held her head as her body swayed, losing balance as she fell on the floor.

Top news. After words of daughter of the Prince, Chwe Ye Jung has passed away, many have accused the wife of Prince Chwe, Han Byul of letting her die.

Such comments like "you shouldn't have gone to the pool if you couldn't swim.", "I've never seen a mother who would let their child die." were seen on Naver and other websites

One year later...

Breaking! Prince Chwe's spouse, Han Byul has ran away from the Castle. Reports said she ran away with the undead child while pregnant with another child. Reports also said she ran from the pressure given to her from Her Majesty, her alleged mother-in-law.

Such news were breaking from everywhere. Byul ran away after the pressure given from Her Majesty was true. Her Majesty had hated her after losing a grandchild.

Another truth was that she found out the true reason why the Queen wanted to let Vernon marry her, using the advantage that Vernon loves Byul: To have offsprings as soon as possible to fulfil her own desires.

Another year later...

Byul's POV

I wore commoner clothes, well, actually it's clothes I would wear daily if I wasn't the Prince's wife.

"Ma'am, if you're not going to buy it then please put it back and don't disrupt my business." The owner gave a look of distaste before going back in.

"People these days are so rude." I placed the newspapers back and left, holding Chanji's hands as we walked back to the place we call home.

When I left the Castle, the two of us, well, three, walked aimlessly, not knowing where to go. Then this lady in her 50s came up to us and offered a room in her huge house with three storeys. I came to find out she's actually Mingyu's mother.

"What time is Uncle Mingyu and Uncle Wonwoo coming back?" Chanji asked as we walked.

"I don't know. We have to ask Grandma later." I smiled at him, skipping his way.

"Is Vanessa at home? Hurry up mom! I wanna see her quick!" He ran and I struggled to catch up. For a nine year old boy he sure has MUCH more energy than I did.

"Grandma! I'm back!!" He made his 'grand entrance' and greeted everyone in the house, maids and the butler.

"You taught your son well, Ms Han. Look at him now, looking all mature." The butler chuckled.

"Ayee, it's all your effort for teaching him when we first moved in." She smiled before going in after she heard Vanessa's wails.

"Aigoo, the Princess is awake!" She carried Vanessa to the living room and sat her infront of her.

"Chanji-ah! Can you get a bottle of water for her? Thank you sweetie!" She called out and he saluted before disappearing into the kitchen.

"Eomma, you should really stop calling me Chanji, it's so... girly. I'm Victor now." I could see him crossing his arms while waiting for the bottle of water to be prepared by the maid.

"Okay okay, give me some time. I use to call you Chanji it's a habit." She chuckled at her son's cuteness and the frown of his face reminded her of the times Vernon frowned when she was expecting for the first time. Apparently, Victor had kicked his face when he talked to them with his cheek on my belly.

I could only sigh as I remember all the memories. I'm surprised they didn't find me, I mean, I don't want to be found but the fact that they didn't made me a little dumbfounded.

Victor came back and passed me to the bottle of water and I gave it to Vanessa to drink.

"It's okay, I'm happy this way."

"I'm home!!" A familar voice ringed from the hallway.

"Uncle Mingyu!!!" Victor excitedly got up and ran to the door.

"Uncle Wonwoo!!!" He hollered and jumped into Wonwoo's arms.

"Woahh there buddy, careful." Wonwoo smiled and ruffled his hair.

"Unnie, I'm here!" Na Rae greeted me.

"Oh you're here." I smiled. Na Rae was a sweet girl who helped out a lot when she visited.

"Hi Vanessa!!!" Mingyu ran with his arms outstretched. Vanessa giggled when she was lifted off my lap and into his arms.

"Eh? Vanessa! You didn't even smile at me when I carried you. Are you choosing him over me? I can't accept this. Mingyu, we'll have a competition." She crossed her arms.
.
.
.
.
"Vanessa! Vanessa!" The two continuously called out for her and in the end she went for Mingyu, smiling brightly. I was a little upset, honestly speaking.

"A-a-ppa ppa ppa ppa." Vanessa looked at Mingyu with those huge eyes of hers and blabbered.

The room went silent. It felt like heavy boulders were falling and crushing me.

Thanks for reading and please vote and share :D

Edit: I have deleted my story "Lifesavers" as I didn't feel it was a good book so I'm deciding to write a new fanfic but of course with Mingyu and Na Rae as the main leads.
