Chapter 12 - Fighting
Byul's POV
I wiped my tears and finally went out of the staff room, with Mrs Kim behind me. Mingyu and Wonwoo just sat at a table, looking at me with those sorrowful eyes.
"Don't give me those eyes. It makes me feel even more pathetic." I tried to joke but I guess it came out more like a statement.
"You are pathetic." Wonwoo commented, receiving a slap on the head from Mingyu. "YAH! I'M YOUR HYUNG!" Wonwoo turned around to glare at the latter.
"Hyung my ass." Mingyu instead got a glare from his mother.
"I'm assuming you have something you desperately want to tell me but I'm not going to ask you. I've had enough to take in for today." I sighed while everyone had a gloomy expression plastered on their faces. "Cheer up y'all. It's not like my life would end if he divorces me." I found out lightening up the mood was not my thing when everyone sighed at the same time.
I didn't want to stay any longer so I excused myself, taking Vanessa from Rei's arms and held Victor's hand before leaving the eatery. Their eyes didn't leave my back until I was out of sight. My mind was in a whirl. Why... Why had I so dumbly waited all these time? Why did I think that he would come back to look for me.
"At least I could see his face." I mumbled to myself.
I'm so dumb.
Vernon's POV
Soo Yeon was dropped off at her place before I was driven back to the Castle. I dragged my feet, unwillingly to enter the Castle. The doors opened wide, hesitating for a bit before sighing as I went in. I'm stuck here forever.
As I went past my father's study room, a loud crash of porcelain sounded throughout, snapping me back to reality.
"What are you doing?! That's my favourite set!" Mother screamed.
"I do not care about that. I will not eat anything you offer until Hansol divorces that lowly ex-servant of yours. She has the guts to work at his friend's eatery." Father's voice boomed this time round.
"Oppa... What's going on? Mommy and daddy have been fighting over something about Byul for a long time." Sofia had a frightened expression on her face and all I can think about is that this is all my fault. It all started because of me.
"It's nothing. It'll be solved soon." I pulled her into my embrace and I felt her relax.
"Did you meet Byul unnie today?" She looked up at me expectantly.
"Yes." I gave a small smile.
"The kids?" I then remembered Chanji, or Victor now. "They're doing fine."
"I miss them... It's been years. I know unnie was expecting another child when she left."
I miss the three of them so darn much.
A week later...
Byul's POV
The divorce papers came in earlier this morning when it was my turn to collect the mail. I brought it into the house and everyone huddled around the coffee table.
I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding as my trembling hands opened the huge brown envelope. The papers already had Vernon's signature on it and all I have to do now is to just sign it. Part of me wants to let Vernon go but the other part refuses to pick up the pen, let alone look at papers.
I close my eyes, picking up the pen and finally signed it. Mrs Kim just looked at me with sorrow and Mingyu seemed happy that I had severed ties with the Royal Family.
I slot in the papers back into the envelope and soon the doorbell rang. Mrs Kim went to answer the door and soon 10 other guys filled in the house.
"Good morning Mrs Kim!" They chorused like kindergarten kids. Mrs Kim gave the guys each a hug and a motherly smile.
"Byul-ah!" Seungcheol sounded the most worried. Seungkwan followed behind and eyed the brown envelope.
"They sent this to you?" I silently nodded. They all sighed. "You signed it?" Joshua asked as he picked up the envelope.
"Do I have a choice?" I shrugged.
"Where's the kids?"
"Hoshi hyung can you acknowledge us? How can you look for the kids instead of us?" Mingyu crossed his arms.
"Oh hi you you're here. Wonwoo too." Hoshi greeted them too happily.
"Mingyu. I heard from Wonwoo. You went out to confront Hansol that day. What did he tell you?" Seungcheol spoke with a voice that spilled authority.
He had a look of uncertainty before hesitatingly answering his hyung.
"He wants the custody of Victor and Vanessa."
"D-does that mean..." They all turned to look at me. My eyes widened.
All of a sudden, I couldn't hear anything.
I can't let him. I won't let him. Not without a fight.
"That mean that official's daughter Soo Yeon will become their step-mother in time to come?!" Chan had his eyes and mouth wide open.
No. She won't.
"Seungcheol, I need you."
