Chapter 11 - Pretending

Vernon's POV

"Whatever she does is no longer my business so why should I care?" Lies, Vernon. Lies.

"No longer your business? Are you hearing yourself? She's still your wife. Not that P.S. girl who is just standing behind you watching us with her plastic face as we speak." Mingyu hyung had balled his hands into fists.

"We're divorcing anyways. The papers will be sent next week. She justs needs to sign it. The custody of the kids will be another issue at a later time." I was close to punching myself too. Why do I have to do this? Why do I have to lie to a brother I knew for ages?

"Wow.. way to go, Vernon." Mingyu hyung just stood there, looking around, huffing in disappointment.

"Why are you sticking your ass into our business anyways." I raised an eyebrow in question.

"Because she's precious to us." He turned and walked away, leaving me to stand there like a dumbass. I turned to look at the black car I was suppose to go to earlier on. The tinted window winded down a little, revealing a lady wearing sunglasses.

"Good job, my son. I'll deal with Byul another day." The window then winded back up. I sighed. I became mom's puppet. But what choice do I have?

Byul's POV

I couldn't stop crying. I know I shouldn't be crying. The tears won't just stop flowing. I could hear someone stomp out of the shop.

I couldn't find the courage to face anyone, especially when the kids are outside. What will I tell them? 'You don't have a father.'?

Even though I've never once heard about from Victor how much he misses his father, I know deep down he's waiting for Vernon to show up.

I was huddled in my knees as I hear someone open the door to the staff room. I looked up and hastily wiped away the tear stains when I noticed Mrs Kim was the one who came in.

"I'm so sorry dear. I know you've been waiting for him, we've been waiting for him." She came to me and squeezed me tightly in her arms like how a mother would do to comfort her crying child. I broke down again, choking on my tears.

How... How could he do this to me?

No one's POV

"Eomma! Eomma!" Mingyu bursted through the door, looking for his mom.

"Yah, keep your voice level down. She's in there with Byul." Wonwoo shook his head in disapproval.

"I need to talk to her, or someone!" Mingyu frustratedly raked his hair.

"Do I not look like someone you can talk to?" Wonwoo deadpanned.

"Oh. Right. Wonwoo. Okay sit down." Mingyu roughly sat Wonwoo down in a chair before sitting down opposite him.

"The divorce papers will be in next week and Vernon that rascal told me the custody over Victor and Vanessa will be another issue." Mingyu summarised.

"So...?" Wonwoo blankly stared at him.

"This is why I do not consider you as someone I can talk to. You're so dumb. He wants the custody of the children." Mingyu banged his head on the table and groaned.

"Oh... Wait. What?! He plans on taking the kids Byul painstakingly gave birth to?" His ears were turning red from anger.

"I don't think it's him, but the Queen."

"I never guessed the Queen was so evil."
