As promised, the new chapter, and I changed the cover.

Katherine's POV:

I have no idea how I survived yesterday. I was literally like an extremely depressed walking zombie that could be mistaken as suicidal. Who could blame me though, the love of my life was cheating on me in the room next door.

I have to admit, as much as his speech about being faithful right before we slept caught me off guard, it did stir something in me. I guess it even had to do with the reason that when I woke up in the morning in Nate's arms, all the depression I felt the night before was gone. And it may even have to do with the reason I'm planning today's surprise.

Today is Nate's birthday, which I found out about by mistake when I was looking at our marriage certificate a while ago. I have no idea why I'm doing a surprise for him, I mean for god's sake, the guy cheated on me 2 days ago. Still, I'm going to be the better person.

Plus I found out that he never had an intimate birthday. I was looking through all his pictures in magazines and newspapers, and there were none about his birthday. No parties, no going out with friends, and not even going on a date. So I have no idea how he celebrates his birthday each year, and that may add to the reason I'm planning something for him.

Up till now, I have nothing figured out and I have a couple of hours left to actually figure something out. Maybe Gray could help me since he is his best friend. Yeah, I should give him a call.

I quickly got to the nightstand next to my bed and picked up my phone. I looked through my contacts until I reached Gray's name and dialled his number. After almost 3 rings, he picked up.

"Hey Nathan's special girl, to what do I awe this pleasure?"

I rolled my eyes at his choice of nickname.

"Stop calling me that, I'm not his special girl nor his at all"

"Never!" he replied in a childish tone making me chuckle.

"Anyways, I called you to ask you a couple of questions"

"Shoot"

"Don't say that! You know that someone listens to all my phone calls for protection" I hissed as he said something that shouldn't be said, especially to royalty.

"Alright, alright, I won't repeat it" Gray muttered between chuckles making me sigh.

"Anyways, I called because I know that today is Nate's birthday and I want to do something for him, but I have idea what. I was thinking maybe you could tell me what you guys do every year so I could get some ideas"

"Actually, we don't do anything. Nate never celebrates his birthday" he said in an almost disappointed tone.

"What! Why? How come you don't try to convince him?"

"I did try before, but it never worked. Every birthday, he disappears to a place and spends it on his own. I did try to talk to him before he disappears, but he always insisted on not celebrating it and spending it on his own"

Another reason to why I'm going with this plan. I guess I'm not the only one who doesn't celebrate their birthday.

"Alright, but do you know where does he go to every year?"

"Yes, but it's not my right to tell. You need to know the whole story before knowing about the place, and it's not my story to tell so you need to ask him yourself" he paused for a while 

"The only thing I can say is that you have about an hour before he disappears to his usual place. If you can catch him and try to convince him to actually celebrate his birthday then that would be a huge accomplishment"

"Okay, let's just say I manage to convince him, what should I do for him? What does he like to do?"

"Something simple, nothing too fancy. That means it's a definite NO for parties. I suggest you take him to a place where the two of you could spend some time alone. Make some memories together" his last sentence made me laugh

"I didn't mean it in an inappropriate way, I meant actually making some good memories"

"Right" that was all I could say as I felt blood rush to my cheeks from embarrassment. Stupid dirty brain!

I cleared my throat trying to clear the air from the embarrassment I caused to myself "Anyways, thank you so much for your help. I need to go now to try to plan something and convince Nate"

"It was my pleasure, I really hope it works out well for you. The both of you need it" 

As he said that, he quickly hung up leaving me confused. What does he mean by 'the both of us need it'?

"Nate, may I come in? I need to speak to you about something" I asked as I knocked on the door that leads to Nate's new office that he took as soon as he became king. Once Nate granted me approval, I went in.

"What do you need? I'm a bit busy and I need to leave in a while" Nate said as he was looking through some papers, not even sparing me a single glance.

"Could you at least look at me while talking to me?" I asked, more like demanded, in a frustrated tone.

With a sigh, Nate did as I asked. Once he looked at me, I was able to see how tired he was, and how his eyes were filled with sadness and a bit of sorrow. He definitely did not look excited, as if he didn't want to be born this day. I wonder what made him that way? Where does he spend his birthday every year?

"Are you going to tell me what you came for, or are you going to stay lost looking at my face?"

"Right" I stuttered feeling embarrassed that I was caught staring at him. I cleared my throat to forget my embarrassment and continued speaking 

"Anyways, I came here to tell you that you can't go to wherever you are going because we are going out"

"What! Where? I don't remember anything in my schedule saying that. Don't tell me we have another interview?" He whined at the last part and if I wasn't serious, I'd be on the floor laughing my arse off at the way he looked and the tone he used right now. 

"It's not an interview and it has nothing to do with our job, so that's why it's not in your schedule"

He shook his head "I'm sorry, but whatever this is, I hope it can wait because I have to be somewhere"

I stubbornly shook my head as well "It's important"

"If it's not an interview and it has nothing do do with our job, then what is it?"

"It's a surprise" I said with a grin while Nate groaned "Look, I know I said before that I'm going to be faithful and start upholding our vows, but that doesn't mean I'm going to start acting as a loving husband as well"

"Don't. Don't make me regret doing this" I gritted through my teeth. How dare he? I'm doing this for him, not for me!

"Then why are you doing this!" Nate snapped back. I sighed, anger won't help me in this situation if I really want him to cooperate.

"Listen, can we, just for today, pretend to be normal? Pretend to be a normal couple, but no love included, just until midnight. After that, we can go back to our usual selves, heck we can even go back to fighting if you want"

"What is this, Cinderella?" Nate asked with a teasing smirk

"Nate!" I warned trying hard not to let the almost showing smile show. Nate sighed, but nodded making my serious face break as the threatening smile finally showed. A clear wide smile actually.

"Let's go!" I said excitedly clapping my hands together.

"Remind me, where are we going again?"

"Nice try, but that won't work on me" I teased, clearly aware of his intention "You can't blame a man for trying" he shrugged.

I stopped walking and turned to him, then started walking backwards "How about a hint?" I suggested and Nate nodded, clearly happy with my suggestion.

"It's a place that is on the highest spot on this Island"

His face fell "That's it?!"

I shrugged laughing "Sorry honey, but that's all I can offer"

As I saw that we got to the car set for us, I turned, walking normally, and started heading to the driver's seat, but a hand stopped me as I was about to pull the car door.

"This feels like deja vu, first the surprise and now the driving, but if we want to continue this deja vu, then I better drive. I really want to make it out alive to see where things are going this time with this surprise" even though he was teasing, he was actually serious.

"Stop being a baby, you know perfectly well that my driving is safe"I teased back, but Nate raised an eyebrow at me.

"Fine, my driving may not be perfectly safe, but in a way, it still is safe" I said while huffing and rolling my eyes. I didn't give Nate more time to object, so I got into the car and waited for him to do the same.

Seconds later, Nate got into his seat clearly not pleased as he shut the door with a bit of unnecessarily extra force. Feeling a bit bad since today is his birthday, I decided to compromise.

"I promise I wont drive as recklessly as last time" I muttered as I started the engine and played some music just like last time. About an hour later of driving normally, singing, and some dancing, we arrived to our destination.

"Tada!" I sang while raising my hands and opening them wide, announcing our arrival. Nate started looking around, again confused to why we were here. As he said, deja vu.

"Why are we at a planetarium?"

"This is the surprise! First, we are going to have dinner while watching the sun set, then I have another surprise. As I said before, this is the highest spot on this Island meaning we are away from the Islands' lights, so we can watch everything clearly"

"Why are we here?" Nate asked again emphasising on the meaning of the question. He meant why are we here in general, not what are we doing in a planetarium. Just as I was about to open my mouth to answer his question, realization seemed to hit Nate as he hummed.

"You knew about my birthday, didn't you?" Nate teased, and I slowly nodded trying not to maintain eye contact from embarrassment. It felt as if I was caught stealing a candy and not just caught finding out general information about my husband.

Love can do strange things to you.

"I'm glad you found out" Nate muttered to himself but I heard it clearly

"I'm glad as well" His head snapped to me the moment I said that as he looked at me with wide eyes

"I said that out loud, didn't I?" He asked as he awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck. I cupped his cheeks and turned him forcing him to look into my eyes. I pecked his cheek and whispered in his ears "I'm glad you did" then left the car.

I wanted to put my hands on my heart to calm it down as it was pulsing crazily right now, but refrained as I knew Nate was watching me. What the hell was this about?!

'This is your heart beating for your idiot husband who refuses to see how madly in love you are with him' my inner self mocked and as much as I wanted to disagree with myself, I couldn't because this is the most true thing my mind ever said to me. 

Sadly.

When I originally wrote this chapter, it turned out really long. So I cut it into 2 parts, meaning the next chapter is a continuation for this chapter.
