Let's Relive

Katherine's POV:

The hopes they all had were too high, I just couldn't be as optimistic as they were. They were all certain I'd remember everything anytime now, I just wasn't feeling it as well.

I want to remember though, now that I gave Nate a chance to make it up to me, I want to remember him. Not all seems pleasant, but from what I heard, we did have some memorable moments and these were the ones I wanted to remember. The bad ones will come with them as well, I know that, but it just seems worth it.

Today is the day I finally leave this hospital. I've been in my room for a whole week that I memorised every detail about these four walls, and I can't wait to see something other than them.

Nate was with me every second though, so I guess we memorised the walls together. I liked it, I felt close to him already and I don't know him much. I was already comfortable with him the moment I met him, I did things I'd never do with a stranger, like sleep next to him -or more like in his arms-, and I could talk to him like I've known him my entire life.

I've never felt the way I feel with him, not with anyone. I felt warmth whenever he was around, tingles all over my body, and skipped beats. He already made a huge impact on my life this past week and I have no idea what I'd do if he left me one day. Though this thought did not worry me much, I was worried I'd never remember him.

He will be the one permanently damaged, not me.

Everything was already set for my leave, all I had to do now was pack and change into normal clothes. My kind of normal clothes.

The options laid in front of me where nothing compared to what I used to wear. Maybe they changed my wardrobe once I became queen.

It was spring, so most of my options were a bit light. I decided to go with the simplest thing among the four outfits. A turtle neck, full sleeve black shirt, with black suit pants.

Not queen-like much, but it doesn't matter right now. No one would care if I look good or not, all they want to know is good information.

"Kate, what are you doing!"

I turned and watched Nate as he approached me with a surprised look.

"Changing?"

"Why didn't you call me, I could've helped you. You can't get up and start doing things all of the sudden"

I rolled my eyes at him "I'm not even hurt"

He narrowed his eyes at me both seriously and teasingly "And what do you think caused your amnesia?"

I chuckled lightly raising my hands in surrender "Alright, you got me on this one. Still, the doctor released me, which means I am perfectly capable of dressing myself"

He sighed with a small smile tucking his lips "Fine, you got me as well, but please don't overwork yourself and if you need anything, I'm always here for you"

The way he talked, and the expression he had, made it clear to me that he wasn't just talking about helping me. I grinned at the hint and thanked him.

Much to my ignored pleas, he helped me finish packing against my wish. His excuse was, 'Just in case, wouldn't want you tired already'. His words, not mine. It's not that I was against him helping me, in fact I found it sweet, but it made me feel incapable.

"Alright, all set" he cheered as he put the suitcase by the door, then turned to face me "Ready?"

I smiled, nodding.

"Let's go love" he said lovingly and I just looked at him surprised.

"Love? That's a first"

"Well you better get used to it, because from now on I'm going to love and spoil you until you have no chose but fall in love with me all over again. Whether you remember me or not" he promised.

My heart skipped a couple of beats at his words and I couldn't help but grin widely. His words were already making their effect, I was sure I was already in the process of loving him, just in the beginning. I wonder how long it would take him to achieve his promise.

The car was already parked by the door once we got out. Reporters were all over the place, as well as guards. Not that any of the reporters were a threat, but precautions were needed all the time.

Nate gave them an official statement, letting them know of the accident, but leaving out the amnesia part. Once they were done with their questions, Nate and I got into the car waving everyone goodbye.

Everything seemed familiar, yet unfamiliar, both at the same time. It was like there were minor changes in the kingdom, everyone oblivious to them, except me. Maybe it had to do with merging the kingdom, since there were no separations anymore, or maybe it had to do with my amnesia. I'd lost a couple of months of my life and a lot of things can happen in this amount of time.

By the time I was done with my thoughts, I'd realized that we were heading towards the airport "Nate, where are we going? I may not remember the location of the palace, but I'm certain it's nowhere near the airport"

The area around the airport is noisy and somewhat crowded. Palaces are usually built in a secluded area, no noise and no people around, for security purposes.

"We're going to the airport"

"What! Why? Nate, this is not the time for vacation. We've been away from the palace for a week now, we have duties that we can't abandon" I blabbered.

"Remember the times I excused myself to take calls?"

I nodded.

"I was making the necessary arrangements for us to be able to leave. It was hard, but I managed to get us a week"

I opened my mouth to object, but he stopped me before I could say anything "Just go with me on this. I want to help you remember me, because I know you think you won't be able to. America is where everything started between us, so I thought we could relive our memories and it might help trigger something"

I looked at him in awe. He was trying hard to help and it made my heart flutter. I let him have it his way this time, maybe he's right after all. Maybe it will trigger something.

I nodded "Alright, let's relive"

He smiled, entwining our hands together. I rested my head on his shoulder and we both remain like this, in a comfortable silence, until we reach the airport.

The luggage was handled by one of the guards, luggage I didn't know of, while Nate and I headed to the check-in area immediately.

I looked around as I took my seat in the VIP area, still confused to why we didn't take the private jet. A family walking around caught my attention, a small, new family.

"When each of us decided to run away, we couldn't take the private jet, so we took a charter plane. I want us to relive everything exactly the same, even the small details"

I nodded understanding, then turned my attention back to the small family. They looked happy, joyful actually. All three were walking together, hand in hand. The mum was staring at her child in awe who was barely able to follow her parent's footsteps. She looked like she had started walking recently and her parents couldn't be any prouder. The father on the other hand was staring at his entire family. Mentally thanking his wife for the blessing she gave them, and chuckling lightly at his wobbly baby.

The entire scene twitched something inside of me, made me yearn even more for something I've always dreamed of. I looked away from them and turned my attention back to Nate. It seemed like he caught what I was staring at because he was staring too, but I couldn't figure out what his opinion on the scene was.

"Ever thought of having children before?" I interrupted his stare. He now faced me.

"Honestly?"

I nodded.

"I never thought about it before you, and then after you came into my life, I was able to picture myself as a father. I wanted the whole package after you came into my life. I wanted to be a good husband for you and learn to be the best parent to our children. Even though I started picturing and wanting this kind of life, I only wanted it with you"

My eyes welled up, while my cheeks heated, slightly turning pink. Nate brought his hand to my face, softly brushing the tear that manged to fall and rested his palm on my cheek for a while, cooling it lightly.

"You look absolutely adorable when you blush" he smiled. He then turned serious as he moved closer to me and rested his forehead on mine, his palm still on my cheek.

"I meant every word, I want a family with you. Only you. I love you, never forget that" I nodded, inhaling his cologne.

The speaker at that time decided to interrupt our moment, announcing that it's time to aboard. I groaned slightly, annoyed that our comfortable moment was over, and Nate chuckled at my reaction.

After he had his share of laughing at my misery, he got out of his seat and extended a hand to me "Ready?"

I took a breath and put my hand in his "Ready."

We checked in pretty quickly and in no time we were in air. The whole flight was spent sleeping, in each other's arms. Once we landed and took our luggage, a driver was waiting by the gate.

New York was different. A familiar, but distant memory. I was comfortable with the air, the skyscrapers, and the crowdedness, like I've been here before. My whole body seemed to remember this place, all but my brain.

The house looked more homey than the palace I lived - used to live in, a distant memory as well. The housekeeper seemed to know me well, so I pretended to do too since no one can knew about my amnesia. Words spread out easily.

Both Nate and I were laying on our backs in bed, our faces turned to each other. Each of us staring into the other's eyes, in the depth of them. The silence was soothing, speaking for us.

Nate then turned his whole body to face me and put his weight on one elbow "Can I come closer to you?"

His tone was nice and sweet, it lured me into nodding, not that I was going to say no either way. I stayed in position as I watched him come closer to me and lay on my chest, to hear my heartbeats, while wrapping his arms around my waist. My hands went to his hair on their own and started brushing it softly.

"You know, I used to hate it when someone played with my hair" I immediately withdrew my hands.

"I said used to" he pointed as he guided my hands back to his hair.

"Whenever anyone would play with my hair, it would remind me of my mum because she'd to it to me all the time. It made me miss her" Miss? "But when you do it, it's different. The way you gently play with my hair, just like she used to, makes me feel like she's here with us"

"It still bothers me when someone plays with my hair though" he continued "Everyone bothers me but you"

I smiled. In no time, he fell asleep in my arms while I was still brushing his hair softly. His warmth, his scent, and his soft, even exhaling, all made me yawn and follow him to sleep as well.
