Chapter 34

I couldn't break free, no matter how hard I thrashed and struggled. Where had this sort of strength come from? Panic rose in my heart, physically able to feel it bound against my chest violently. At that moment all seemed lost, my future looking bleak and dim. I needed to think on my feet, let panic take over. I looked around the room for something I could maybe use to prey the child from me, or perhaps defend myself with. Anything at this point was better then nothing. Lil' Pup snarled, keeping a firm grip on my shoulders. I didn't want to hurt them, meaning I needed a humane solution. I could barely see through the tears in my eyes, a misty fog covering my eyes. Thoughts of dismay filled my mind, finally accepting what was going to become of me. If I couldn't even fight off a child then what use was I here? I would go out into the field for work here and die on my first job, no matter what I would end up as  mulch for earthworms. I sobbed gently, closing my eyes as Lil' Pup pulled a knife from their pocket. I didn't care about wondering were they had acquired such a tool, just wanting my futile struggle to end. Nothing happened, a gently opening door distracting the child from their current actions. Silence settled for a mere few moments before shouting filled the air, echoing loudly around the simply furnished room.

" Whoa whoa kid! " Sans? He must have finished his work, a blessing in disguise. Still, I didn't open my eyes, keeping them firmly shut and the dark around me. I didn't have the heart to watch what was happening, hearing Lil' Pup's struggled gasps and grunts. I knew that they probably were not to blame for their actions but that doesn't stop fear from ringing like a bell inside my heart.I wanted to be strong, able to survive in this foreign monster world but that wasn't possible. I was only human and was only ever going to act as such.

" Laura, help me will ya?! " Taking a deep and somewhat calm breath, I finally opened my eyes, shocked by what I saw in front of me. Sans had the child pinned to the floor, hands behind their back. The child was still snarling like a rabid dog. I was frozen to the spot, my heart as still as a statue. What could I do?! My limbs were unable to move. Damn it.
