Chapter 32
I began to clear the table, not a single scrap of food remaining. Papyrus sure knew how to make a good meal. I placed the plates in the sink for washing, turning on the hot tap and adding soap to the metal container. Everyone had retreated into the living room after dinner, the short skeleton surprisingly not retreating to his study as soon as he could. He sat in the living room with Lil' Pup and they drew on he floor, his smile as wide as it had ever been. Something still didn't feel right though. Papyrus wouldn't have noticed so asking him was futile. Sans seemed to keep a lot of things from his younger brother, my heart feeling heavy at the thought of such a disgraceful act. I would have never kept anything from my mother, father or siblings. I grabbed my dress in loathing, knowing that I was doing just that. I hadn't told my family I was homeless nor did I now tell them about my new life with the mafia, perhaps that last one was better left unsaid. I sigh softly, turning off the sink's faucet and washing the dishes. Soft footsteps clamored from behind me, the wafting of fabric filling the air.
" Will you be ok here Sans? "
" I need to go out too bro but I'm sure Laura can handle Lil' Pup " Nice to be asked, not like I had anything to do though. Maybe a night in with Lil' Pup was what I needed, a night alone with another human. A smile graced my features at the thought, feeling my heart flutter with excitement and my mind racing a mile a minuet with thoughts of what the child and I could do together. Tag, drawing, games it all seemed so normal and considering my current predicament it was a good thing. I drain the sink and dry my hands, hearing the door of the house close gently as I did. Sans flung his coat over his shoulders, lighting up yet another strong smelling cigar. I covered my nose, hating the putrid smell as much as Papyrus who always opened a window when his brother lit one up. Sans ruffled Lil' Pup's hair, turning to me with a look of worry in his sockets.
" Will you be ok kiddo? " I nodded and watched as the skeleton quickly left the house, locking the door behind him. It was going to be a long night.
