Chapter 30
The wind blew by us at an alarming rate, flowing through my silky brunette locks. Many streets passed us by, greeting us as quickly as they passed. The blaster seemed to wander aimlessly, knowing as much about our whereabouts as I did, so not much at all. The feeling in my heart lingered like a bad smell, overpowering and dominant. It was a rush like I had never felt before, something that only my mere actions could describe. It was these exact actions that stuck fear into Sans' eyes, like he had seen such determination before but by who was the question. Sans grabs the horns of the blaster firmly, guiding it gently onto the right path home. He sighs softly, turning to look at me after greeting a few curious passers by that were wandering the streets. His stare seemed cold, somewhat cruel. I could feel his impatience, almost like I could reach out to grab it.
" Kid, where did that sudden act come from? " I had no idea how to answer his question. I hoped that listening to the sound of the passing wind would maybe spark something to say. Nothing. I sighed heavily, shrugging my shoulders. I felt just as confused as Sans was, not knowing the reasons for my actions either. I was snapped from my thoughts, the sudden stop of the blaster causing me to tumble to the floor from an imbalance. My hand retracted to my head, rubbing the now throbbing skull as my brain pounded against the bone walls. Sans never spoke a word, instead retiring to his study as soon as he entered the house. I looked at the old wooden door, staring at it intently for a few moments, longing for it to open and see Sans wander out into the living room with a telltale smile on his face. Nothing. I walked on, seeing Papyrus cooking in the kitchen and Lil' Pup at the table playing with a puzzle. I smiled at the cosy atmosphere, feeling the sight fill my heart with warmth and comfort. I pull out a chair to sit, the scraping noise causing Papyrus to look back at me and smile widely.
" Ah Big Pup, ya back! Just gettin' dinner ready. I got me a job to do later so I wanna make sure you have something to eat " I smiled more at the tall skeleton's gesture to look after his guests but alas, my mind wandered to thoughts of the study. Did Sans know something and if he did, how much did he know?
