The Baby
Davidson, Dawn, and Aland were now walking down the hall. Davidson was the first to speak "So... Dawn.." I looked up at him, "Yes?" He seemed to be searching for the words but nothing came out "Um."
"Davidson just breathe. She will not hurt you." Aland said while placing a hand on Davidson's shoulder. "You will marry soon. Might as well try to get to know each other now." Davidson didn't say a word. "You can trust her."
Davidson and I looked at each other for a moment. "I will leave you two so you can talk." Aland left Davidson and I, and walked to his room. "So...what do you want to talk about?" I asked him but he still didn't talk. "It is okay to talk. Don't you trust me?" If he doesn't then this marriage might be impossible. "Yes." He said in a low voice.
"Then ask me anything." We stopped walking and looked at each other. "What...what do you like to do?" His face turned red. "I enjoy helping people, spending time with my family and looking at the stars. What about you?" He looked at the ceiling, "Helping people...Reading and....." He stopped and looked at the floor. "What?" I stepped closer to him.
"The night". He took a step back. "You like the night sky as well?" I asked while trying to look at his face. "Yes."
I stopped to think for a while. I thought about something we can both enjoy. Well, if what he just told me was true, "Can I show you something?" He looked up and his face is still red. "Yes." I took his hand and walked him to my room, while closing the door behind us. He looked around. "Who's room is this?" I let go of his hand. "Mine."
His eyes were getting big, he shook and lose his breath, "Oh...oh no...I can't be here." I looked at him and held his shoulders. "It's all right. " When I saw he was calming down, I let him take a step back. When he was back to normal, I walked over to the full-sized mirror leaning on the wall. While using both of my hands, I moved the mirror revealing a door. I then walked over to Davidson and held his hand again.
"Now this is a secret place. Going through this door, you can go upstairs or down." Davidson couldn't hear a word she was saying. He was too busy trying to calm his beating heart. "Going down, you walk outside. Going up will be a surprise." I added.
I pulled Davidson's hand and walked him toward the secret door. I used my other hand to open the door. While still holding his hand, I walked upstairs with Davidson behind me. We reached a balcony. I gently let go of his hand. "So what do you think?" I stepped back, letting him get a full view. You can see all the stars in the sky. You can't hear the music playing in the village or the people screaming and laughing. It's quiet. A cool breeze came by and he closed his eyes.
"Do you like it?" I was nervous as I waited for his response. I played with my necklace a little while I looked at him. "I like it." He looked at me. "Thank you." I smiled and stood right next to him. "I'm glad."
They looked at the sky standing next to each other both secretly wishing this moment would last forever.
"This is a wonderful place." He takes in a deep breath taking it all in.
"It is. People have been trying to get up here since the palace was built. The only way to get here is through my room. I've never told anyone about the door." I was still looking at the stars while letting the cool breeze hit my face.
"So I'm....the first?" He pointed to himself. "Yes." I nod my head."I will treasure this." I then realized I was looking at him for too long and quickly looked away. "Dawn." He took my hand.
"Yes." I saw our hands were now entwined. "I...I would like to to...show you something at my empire. Will you go there with me?" I quickly looked at him. "You want me to go to Bewen?" Without giving it a second thought, "Yes." He answered. I was shocked. My mouth slightly open but no words came out. "Dawn?" I saw he was regretting what he asked me. "Can I.... think it over?" The words finally came out.
"Yes, but may I ask...why?" He looked at me with concern in his eyes. "Well, the only place I've been was the Lupawen Empire. This is the first time I've been to any other place." He placed his other hand on mine. "I understand." I placed my other hand on his. "I would like to talk to my father to make sure it is all right."
Before Davidson could say a word, we heard yelling in the yard. The maids were looking for me. Davidson and I both ran downstairs and stopped one maid.
"Amity, what is going on?" She ran over. "Ms. Dawn, we were looking for you. Your mother is having the baby." Now? All at once I was happy, scared, nervous and anxious, "Oh my. How is she?"
"She is fine. She ordered me to gather her children and for you to wait till the birth is done." Me, Davidson and Amity ran back into the palace. We reached the room which the queen, my mother, is giving birth. Waiting outside of the room was the King looking nervous, Aland talking to one maid, Bliss was looking at herself in the mirror and Maxwell was holding a sleeping Ella in his arms.
"How is everyone?" I asked. "Were fine." Answered Aland. Everyone waited for a few hours outside the room until the birth was finished and room clean. When they were allowed into the room, the Queen was holding the baby who is now sleeping. The King walked over to her side and kissed his wife.
"What do we have?" The king looked at the baby and smiled. "Another girl." She answered while the baby was holding her finger. "Another princess...She's beautiful. Just like the others." He said with a few tears falling down his face. Ella was now awake. "What's her name?"
"I didn't pick one yet. I was hoping my children could help me pick." She looked at her children. "Oh oh. Name her Ella." Maxwell let Ella down and she ran over to look at the baby. "Sweetheart that's your name." The queen laughed a little but showed a little pain in her face. "Angel?" Bliss suggested.
"I don't know." The king said to Bliss. Maxwell snapped his fingers as if he had an idea, "Dawn do you have any ideas?" I was taken back by being asked that but was happy to give it a chance, "Let me think...how about Cade?"
"Maybe." The king and queen both looked at each other. Davidson and I both spoke, "Alia." We looked at each other shocked that we said the same thing.
The baby now awake, "Alia...I like it." The king said while tickling Alia. "Princess Alia. I love it." The king and Queen kissed. "Alia, welcome to the family," Maxwell said while looking at her. The night ended and morning came. Davidson and Aland went on a walk in the village. Ella was studying and Bliss was nowhere to be found. I was walking to my parents' chambers. I knocked and opened the door.
You can hear a faint, "Yes." While opening the door. "It's me, father." I poked my head through the door. "Come in Dawn." He said. I walked into the room. "What is it?" The king was holding Alia while the queen was sleeping. "Father" I grabbed my necklace, "Davidson asked me something the other night." He looked away from Alia to look at me, "what about?"
I stood up straight and let go of my necklace, "He asked me to go with him to Bewen." He raised one eyebrow, "Why is that?" I walked over to him, "He wanted to show me his Empire."
He smiled, "Than go. You will live their when you marry him. It is best to get to know it before becoming its Queen." Wait, is he really letting me go? "But father, are you sure?" He nods his head, "Yes." The Queen started to make noise. He handed Alia over to me. "I have to check on your mother."
While he was walking over to the bed. I looked at Alia. She was asleep as well. Her cheeks were all pink and her hair was as blonde as mine. I smiled while looking at her. The King walked back over to me and I gave Alia back. Evening came and Davidson and I were in the garden. I was picking flowers, Davidson was walking beside me.
"So...which ones are..." he began to ask but was interrupted. "My favorite? Lotus." I held up the flower to show him. "What color?" He grabbed the flower from my hand. "Any color really, as long as there lotus." I gently touched the pedals. I know he wanted to asked me about going to Bewen but he never brought it up. "Come on. Just say it".
"I don't want to pressure you." He hands the flower back to me. "It's alright. I've made a decision." I looked at the flower and smiled. "I will go with you."
Davidson smiled. I looked at him, "I'm looking forward to seeing your empire. I bet it's as wonderful as you." He grabbed my hand, "It won't let you down."
