It was finally the weekend, and that is the time you were brave enough to meet up with Mr.Jonghoon. You were now standing right in front of the gates, scanning its similar features you've encountered numerous times before.
"Excuse me, I would like to speak with-"
"Oh, great timing. Mr.Jonghoon has been expecting for your arrival." The guard unintentionally interrupted as he finished listening to his message sent from his ear piece.
Well then
After being allowed to enter to their place once more, I straight ahead went towards the doors that are immediately opened by some familiar faces I remembered and entered. I immediately proceeded to my destination with ease since I've already known this place since then.
Greeted by the people I've known and smiled on while going through the hallways, I've arrived to the door. The similar double door decorated with much more fancy than any other, shouting its name you've been expecting for.
You heaved, trying to relax yourself. Then after a few seconds, you knocked on the door.
"Come in."
Once its signal, you immediately opened the door but of course, still politely doing so, entering then closing the door gently.
"Have a seat, Ms. ____" The principal you've always known said as he gestured you to seat down on the chair that's visible to your sight that's placed at the side front of his desk.
"Thank you, Your Highness."
After that, you followed and gently sat down and stayed quiet to listen to his future statements.
"I would like to settle this down piece by piece..." He stated as he then paused for a little, trying to figure out on how to say what he's going to say.
"You already know my sons, Taehyung and Jungkook..." He added as you then nodded in response.
"And you already know that they belong to... Certain mothers," He continued as he looked to the side with a hint of worry on whether to continue.
"What do you m- oh..." You paused as you knew what he meant.
"Y-Yes. Yes, I did." You answered, an awkward atmosphere now starting to form.
"But first, I should tell you some things you might be asking.." He said as he then scanned your face now filled with pure curiosity.
"Yes, I told them to stop meddling nor talk to you..." He answered as if he had red your mind, making you quite shocked in response.
"Or that I'll fire you from your position and even grant you expulsion out of this academy." He completed his statement casually as if it wasn't a big deal.
You gulped.
"But of course... It was all a lie." He added, which made you feel relieved somehow.
"My sons... I guess they were bothering you too much, aren't they? I received numerous complaints coming from your parents."
You responded with nothing but a blank stare, somehow surprised knowing that your parents have already complained to them.
"Then, on behalf of Mr.Kim Taehyung, and of Mr.Jeon Jungkook. I would like to lay out my apology," Out of nowhere, Mr.Jonghoon apologized, and that he had done it so politely.
Wait- What's going on? The Duke of Seoul is apologizing to me?!
"Oh, Your Highness! I would also like to apologize for having you to do this-"
Before you go all flustered, Mr.Jonghoon interrupted. Certainly in a good way.
"It is the least I could do. But of course, I still have things to work on before I can get on to certain things."
He explained as you then just quietly nod in return, now turning silent.
"Now that's done..." He paused as he then checked to see if you're ready to listen to what he would say.
"Do hear me out."
You nodded as you then prepared yourself to listen.
"At first, I thought I could have a happily ever after with my first one. But I guess, my first son already told you that, didn't he?"
"Yes..." You answered sadly.
"She's a wonderful woman that I've met, yet so fragile..." He said, pausing for a moment.
"She's the only daughter of another royalty who's beauty couldn't be resisted by almost everyone. One time, she's a person who seemed quite having a hard time socializing once at the party," He continued, then he looked like as if he's looking through flashbacks.
"So there, I stood next to her, and tried to cheer her up, but I accidentally tripped over and face planted on the floor right in front of her. Quite embarrassing on the first day, isn't it?" He questioned as he let out a small chuckle while you let out a soft laugh in return.
"But then, I heard her sweet laugh of an angel as she gracefully bent down and helped me up, our eyes locking on for a moment as she then quickly looked away with her cheeks tainting red," He proceeded on with his narrative as you were back to listening.
"After that, we talked and had fun. Soon I knew that she's way different from any other girls I've met. How she wanted to help other people. How she studied all day to find ways about fundraising and the beneficials for the people instead of going to fancy parties..." He stated as he was expressing some sort of happiness when he remembered those moments, but then it quickly faded.
"But then I also learned...about her condition." He stated as a sad look was now existing in his face.
"I-I'm sorry, Your Highness," You apologized as you then also felt saddened of the situation.
"Don't be. As we had our marriage, especially her pregnancy, her sickness got worse. Until, it got to the day where it already happened," He responded as he had his smile back, but weakly this time.
"She's one strong woman to remember, even with her condition..." You said as you were quite impressed by Taehyung's mother, being responsible and all that.
"She truly is, dear" He added.
"But what about..." You paused, realizing the possible outcome of a shameless question you're about to ask.
"Jungkook's mother?" He casually asked and you, quite surprised once again at his actions, nodded slowly in return.
"Ever since the death of my first love and wife, I thought I didn't need anybody else," He said, now trying to fully answer your question.
"It's actually quite surprising on how we've met. I went to a club privileged only for royalties...to forget about my certainties."
He had this look of remembering something that seems to be bringing back his old memories of that certain event, trying to remember clearly.
"I've been wanting to have some peaceful talk and drink then someone had to appear to ruin it."
He narrated, somehow exaggerating the part 'someone'.
"She's loud, crazy, and wild..."
"But that's what makes her unique from others, right?" You interrupted his statement as if you've already know on what he's going to say.
"You're really one of my top students here," He replied as he let out a gentle yet proud-looking smile.
"We didn't get along of course, especially since she's just of a mere commoner, but we encountered each other too often since she's one clever woman with befriending some royalties here and there..." He explained, then continued on.
"But then, as we got closer, I couldn't help but notice her soft, gentle, and kind side of her even though she doesn't show it." He said, remembering the moment once again.
"Eventually, we strangely became a couple, even though I tried to fight it, but then I realized about my son."
You kept on listening.
"My first born son has never get to experienced a mother's love, so I at least wanted to give him a wonderful childhood..." He paused for second, thinking about his son Taehyung.
"So in the end, I married her."
You were quite surprised about what the Duke, is actually thinking about and whatnot, since you really didn't expect for him to have this kind of side.
"Expecting another child wasn't really expected, but I'm still alright with having another in the family. So that's where my second son exist."
He continued on.
"I thought, that this is finally it. To finally have a happy family. But years later, is when I realized..." He halted as he recalled that painful moment.
"That she had left. For good."
You froze for a second, somehow recollecting hearing that certain event.
"I know where she could possibly be. Heck, I don't even need forces to track her down."
"But why didn't you stop her from leaving?" You asked, quite curious since he, one of the powerful royalties, could have easily done it.
"Because I knew the true reason why she left."
"What do you mean?" You questioned, a little confused.
"Well, it's not my place to talk about it, even as the Duke of Seoul..." He muttered, showing a calm yet serious mood.
"It is up to her to tell you or not. That is, if you can find her."
"Wouldn't you tell me where she is?" You queried.
"Why don't you have a chat with Jungkook for that?" He responded, somehow not giving a clear answer to it.
"Haven't you told him to ever not talk to me?" You asked, your tone a bit sarcastic and annoyed.
"Well, isn't that a job for you to figure that out, dear?" He replied, showing a calm teasing smile.
Three knocks on the door were suddenly heard.
"Everything's settled for the meeting, Your Highness."
A servant appeared once he opened the door and entered, bowed, then started giving information to the duke.
"Well then, best of luck, Ms. ____," Mr.Jonghoon stated as he stood up from his seat, showing one last smile and proceeded his way to the exit of his office.
This guy sure does love giving puzzles...
"Oh, I almost forgot..." He stopped his tracks, almost at the door, and turned a little to you.
"I know that they've done a lot of trouble already since the beginning..." He said as he stopped for a bit.
"I may not have been the best father to them but I do hope that you'll understand that they do actually have their kind sides hidden somewhere within them. They're just...quite lost," He reminded as he then stood in front of the door.
"And it's my fault for it," He muttered with a hint of regret inside him and with that, he left the room along with his servant, gently closing the door.
"I guess..." You mumbled as you then stood up and looked at the door.
He really wasn't that kind of a bad father after all.. Sort of...
