Chapter 6
"I guess I should get going. You are tired, you need to take rest. Just call me if you need anything, I'm in the room right next to this one. Would you like something to eat?"-Harry asked. "No, thank you."-Lindsay politely responded. "Okay, so I'm just going to let you sleep. Goodnight."-with this Harry got up and closed the door behind him. Lindsay sunk into the soft mattress of the bed. It wasn't a soft as the ones she was used to sleeping on but, she managed to adjust herself. This night was the night when she went to sleep feeling satisfied. She was glad that she finally did what she had wanted to do since ages.
The sun had already come up and most of the people in the village were up. This was village life; people woke up at the crack of dawn and worked till evening. Lindsay was not used to getting up so early, she was still comfortably curled up in the bed sheet in her room. Harry thought that waking up the princess would be better because according to him, she had overslept. He carried a tray of breakfast for her and softly knocked on her door but, upon not receiving an answer he raised his voice and declared that he will be entering her room as he didn't want to invade her privacy. He pushed the door open and saw the princess sleeping in the tangled mess of bed sheets and blankets. He set the food tray down on the table beside the bed and bent over to get a closer look of the princess. Short strands of her brown hair fell over her forehead and the longer ones ran along her perfectly-shaped face. Her full, pink lips were parted a little bit and soft sighs escaped them every once in a while. Harry stared at her for a moment, captivated by her beauty, how unaware of the world she was. She looked like she didn't have a care in the world. She looked so innocent and everything about her seemed to be breathtaking. The way she carried herself, the way she was determined to do what she wanted to, how different she was from the other Royal people and at last, she was beautiful inside-out. He tore his gaze away from the princess even though he wasn't willing to and then, pressed his right hand on her shoulder and gently shook her to wake her up. Eventually, her eyelashes which framed her hazel eyes flew open and she sat up, rubbing her eyes.
"Good morning. Did you sleep well?"-Harry smiled at her. Princess didn't reply because she doesn't like it when she is disturbed while sleeping and she was too in sleep to care about anything. She had never been a morning person and all the servants of the palace where she used to reside, knew better than disturbing her in the early morning. "Are you alright?-Harry asked in a concerned tone. "Oh, yes. I'm not habitual to getting up so early but, it's fine." "I've brought breakfast for you and I'm sorry to have annoyed you."-he apologized. "No, you didn't annoy me."-she said.
The princess got dressed for the day ahead and planned out what she wanted to do. First, she wanted to visit the farm with Harry and then, get on with writing her books. "Would you like to go and see my farm today?"-Harry offered. "Of course. I have wanted to visit it ever since I came here."-Lindsay agreed. Harry held out his hand for her to hold and his grin grew even bigger when she gladly kept her hand on his.
Both of them walked towards the farm. Lindsay filled her lungs with a long breathe of the sweet smelling air and said-"I love this. Freedom. Nature. Being myself. I should have done this ages ago!" She was very excited as she had hardly ever visited a farm. "I'm delighted that you like my place but, didn't you like it when you were in your palace? You had money, fancy things and all. I would have given anything to swap lives with you."-Harry assumed that if one had money, he could do anything. He badly wanted money to start his business and he had none. A princess who didn't value all the money and luxuries she had, intrigued him. He wanted to know more. He wanted to dig to the matter's depth and find out what made her want to this. "Harry, as I told you before, I do respect all the privileges I have but, flocking around in gowns all day and doing nothing for the kingdom and the people, isn't something I would like to do. I would love to enlighten people with my writings and that's why I am here. You don't realize what you have. It's more precious than anything in this world. It's freedom, Harry. No one will judge you. You are not the opinion of someone. You are what you think you should be."-she tried to talk some sense into him so that he realized what he had was priceless.
"I love how you value everything I have even though it's nothing special. I don't meet many people like you. You are unique, princess."-he said. "Thank you."-she blushed and looked down at her hand which was still held by Harry's tight grasp.
"So, this is where I work."-Harry said, pointing towards the farm. There were mustard crops which swayed with the breeze. Birds flew over the farm and squirrels ran out from under the trees. "This must be so much fun!"-she gasped and twirled around in her orange gown. "Yeah, it is. I love working under the harsh sunlight and I like the feeling of my skin burning under it."-Harry's words dripped with sarcasm. "Oh, come on. At least, you are not confined to a boring palace like me."-she pouted. "You call it boring?"-he argued. "Oh well, here we go again! Can this debate take place later? I'm here to enjoy!-she shouted. "As you wish, love. Do want to see my poultry birds? I have a few chickens and ducks."-Harry said, changing the topic. "I would love to."-she followed him to the coup of the birds.
The quacking sounds of ducks became louder as they entered the coup. "Woah, this is nice .You have so many of them."-she said in an astonished tone. "Yes, I mean they lay eggs for me and I sell them. They do earn me a good sum."-Harry replied. Lindsay rolled her eyes and said-"Why does everything have to mean business? Is money all you think about?" "Princess, tell me what you would think of when you are hardly able to have three proper meals a day. When will you understand?" She huffed in annoyance and took long strides towards the house. "Wow, it's not even afternoon and you have already angered her. You have to do something to make it up to her."-Harry murmured to himself.
When, Harry walked into his house, he saw Lindsay sitting on one of the sofas with a stiff expression on her face. He quietly sat down beside her but; there wasn't the slightest change in her expression. He said-"Look, I'm sorry, I argued. It's just that I have always had something to be proven right. I didn't want to anger you; I was just stating my points. I really don't want you to hold a grudge, will you forgive me?" Her hazel eyes looked as if they were clouded by something- her thoughts. She was thinking about something really hard. After some time she broke the silence- "You don't have to apologize. I just realized, we were both right. A perfect conclusion for this endless debate doesn't exist. It's totally fine." She smiled to lighten the mood.
Harry let out a relaxed sigh and both of them stood up. "I know this is totally random but, would you like to dance?"-he beamed at her. "Dance? Now? Why?"-she was a little baffled by the sudden mood change. "I thought maybe we can bond over dancing. It's a good way to make up after a fight, you know? My parents used to do it."-he explained. "Okay, I get it."-Lindsay nodded.
Harry bent before Lindsay and held out his hand-"May I have the honor to dance with you?" "Why not?"-Lindsay giggled. As she stood before him, he placed his left hand over her waist and entangled his other hand with Lindsay's. She smiled and looked up at him. Their chests were pressed together and they were moving backwards and then, forward in sync. Both of them looked deeply into each other's eyes as if they were trying to read the other's mind that whether the other person was feeling as joyful and content as them or not. The truth was-both of them savored every moment of that dance. It was like they discovered each other through this dance; they were getting to know each other and both of them were happy. Something came over them and Lindsay found herself strangely attracted to the handsome farmer in front of her while he wondered why he felt all tingly and happy while looking at her and he wanted to spend more time with her. He just didn't want to let her go. He could see through her outer image and he had to admit that he felt something he never felt before.
Lindsay had the same look on her face as Harry did throughout the dance. She could see the reflection of her hazel eyes in his green ones. His eyes seemed like could speak words that he couldn't. Harry knew that the feelings that shot through him were mutual. He could tell from the vibes coming from Lindsay. He slowly slid his hands off her petite waist and brought them up to cup her face. She looked at him wide eyed as she was surprised. "Love, don't rush yourself into anything, I can wait. I understand."-Though Harry knew that his feelings for her would only grow stronger with time, he didn't want to risk anything. He was being the gentleman he was, he didn't want to make her uncomfortable. She nodded and said-"I need to think. Things went pretty fast."-she passed him a smug smile. "I agree."-He let out a deep chuckle as he saw her scurry away to her room.
