[7] The Green Room Au

Roman sighed and looked at the building in front of him, and thought about backing down. He knew Virgil loved flowers, but he wasn't sure what kind, or what any of them meant, which was why he was about to walk into the flower shop Virgil worked at, to see if he could get help from a coworker of his.

The bell above the door jingled as he walked in, and immediately, the overwhelming smell of flowers filled his nose, and he found it rather pleasant.

As his eyes darted around the shop, his eyes landed on a male behind the counter, who took his breath away.

"Hi, welcome to The Green Room, how may I help you?" The voice called to him, and he couldn't help but smile. Not only was he adorable, his voice was therapeutic too.

"Hi. I uh..." Roman stumbled over his words, and he had to pause to collect himself. "It's my friend's birthday, and I need help."

"What is this friend like?"

"Well, he actually works here... His name is Virgil, and I don't really know what kind of flowers he likes... I just know he likes flowers..."

"Oh! Virgil is so sweet." The male gushed, and Roman smiled. "Let's see, he likes daisies, roses, any form of cactus/succulent, tulips, snowdrops, gardenias, marigolds. Oh... He likes almost every kind of flower, and he loved finding out what they mean. He's the one that hand writes all the notes we have with the flowers. He has quite the eye for art, and creating a bouquet."

"Yeah... He uh, he got me a really nice bouquet for my birthday last year, and he said he put it all together and everything."

"Oh! That was for you! He told me about that. He put in Gladiolus for strength, Heather Lavender for admiration, Violets for loyalty, and gerberas for cheerfulness!" The male grinned, and Roman smiled.

"It was so sweet." Roman's smile grew as he remembered Virgil's nerves over handing him the flowers. It had taken him weeks to figure out the perfect gift, and it made Roman's heart swell at how adorable his friend was.

"So, let's see..." He thought for a moment, turning to Roman. "What kind of thing do you want to say to him?"

"Um... Well, I want him to be happy, have good luck, and... Find someone whom he loves... He has someone important in his life, he's just struggling to work out how to tell them..."

"Oh yes, I know who you mean, I have seen them talking a few times, Virgil goes so red, and it's so cute."

"Yes, it is." Roman smiled fondly.

"So, for the flowers, we could go for red and yellow roses, which, when combined, represent joy, we can add Aster for a talisman of love, and Gardenias for good luck." Roman smiled at the other male, who was pointing the flowers out as he suggested them.

"Can we see them together?" Roman asked, looking at the flowers around the store.

The worker nodded, and went and collected one of each of the flowers, returning with a small rainbow of colours.

Red, yellow, purple, and white. It worked.

"Can I get a bouquet of those please?"

The male nodded, and Roman smiled, thanking him.

By the time he was done, the bouquet looked beautiful, and Roman couldn't help but smile, and watch as Virgil's coworker tied the bow.

"Thank you for your help, how much does it cost?"

"Just your phone number, and a date, in which you pay." He giggled, and tilted his head innocently.

Roman smiled, and shook his head. "I have to pay for these, it's not right if I don't."

He shook his head. "If they're for Virgil, he would be happy to know they're from you and me, and it doesn't matter, he wouldn't want you spending money on him like that." Roman smiled. "Fine." He pulled out his phone, and handed it to the male, letting him add in his number.

He pocketed the phone, and thanked him again for his help, promising to tell him how it goes, and to text him.

As he walked out of the store, he looked at the contact.

Patton.

Cute name to match a cute face.

It's fair to say, Virgil liked his bouquet, and Roman and Patton went on the date, both of them loved it, and there were more to follow, paired with multiple bouquets, and smiles. They were happy, and it all worked out in the end, and to think, flowers bought them together.
