[22] Nobody Compares Au
Another serving of fluff anyone?
T.W. Fluff? Mega fluff.
Patton wore dresses and Roman adored that about him. He would always wear a dress out on a date, or if they went to a school dance. Roman adored how cute he looked. His Patton was perfect. Only, they had their final school dance coming up, their senior year prom and Patton had moved to the other side of town and wouldn't be able to attend.
Roman was gutted. He'd gotten them tickets and planned the entire evening out, only for Patton to tell him two weeks later that he wouldn't be able to make it. That he had a college tour thing and his parents had pulled so many strings to get him there. He couldn't miss it, but it also meant, he wouldn't be around for their weekly coffee date.
Roman wasn't exactly sure why Patton had to move, but he wasn't going to give him grief over it. It wasn't fair of him to do that.
So, he had two prom tickets, a rented tux, and no friend to give the tickets or tux to. So, he sent Patton the ticket anyway, and decided he'd go anyway, and at least experience it.

Patton felt guilty as anything that he couldn't make it to prom, so, he contacted Roman's parents, to make sure he wasn't going to be home until late that night.
He managed to make it back into town by nine in the afternoon, and with Roman's parents help, set up a small date picnic prom thing in the backyard. He knew Roman would still have his used ticket, since they only ripped the stub off.
Patton used the brief time he had remaining to change into the prom dress he'd bought, waiting out back with a bouquet of flowers. He knew Roman would be a little while but that was okay.
An hour later, Romans car pulled up and his parents were off, shepherding him towards the back yard.
Patton stood upright and smiled softly as Roman came onto the back porch. "Patton?"
"Hey, Ro."
"What's this?"
"I couldn't make it in time for our prom, so I made something better for you. But I'm going to have to see your ticket.."
Roman frowned and handed Patton his used ticket, taking the flowers from Patton. Patton wrote on the back of the ticket. 'May 2019. Roman and Patton's prom.'
Roman smiled and put the flowers on the table, taking Patton's hand when he was done, a soft melody playing in the background.
"I love you, my love."
"I love you too, my prince."
Patton smiled and kissed Roman briefly, the two dancing around the small clearing in the backyard.
Roman held Patton closer and rested their foreheads together. "No one ever looked so good in a dress and it hurt cause I know you're only mine tonight. No one ever makes me feel like you do when you smile. Baby tell me how to make it right. My friends say it's worth it and even if it's true, no one in the world could stop me from not moving on, baby even if I wanted to. Nobody compares to you," Roman murmured, changing the lyrics to the song playing.
Patton smiled softly and kissed him, their small dance long forgotten. "I love you. I promise, the world will be yours one day, Romeo."
"Oh, baby, the world is already mine. You're my world. And this is the only world I want to keep."
Patton smiled and kissed him again, the only light being that from the fairy lights hung between the trees, and the light filtering through from the living room of Roman's house.
It was perfect. Nothing could compare to their small prom. And nobody compared to Patton. His Patton who looked adorable in a dress, and he hoped would one day marry him.
One day, their world would grow, but for now, it was just them dancing in the moonlight without a care in the world.
It was perfect.
