[1] Bowling Au

Patton sighed, he and his friends had gone out bowling for their birthday, but the issue was, there were only three of them, meaning he was a third wheel. He didn't mind, but he did at the same time. They were adorable together, and he couldn't help but feel happy for them, but when they kept kissing, and hugging, and being all romantic, and gushy in front of him, he felt rather excluded. Not to mention that he sucked at bowling. His ball always went off center, or into the gutter, and his score was insignificant compared to his friends, who claimed to have been bowling on multiple dates they'd been on.

He was so deep in thought that he didn't notice a new person sit down next to him.

"Roman! You made it!" Virgil's voice bought Patton from his thoughts and he quickly shot a glance to the side. Roman had just started their school, and Patton would be lying if he said he didn't find him cute. Then again, so did all of the girls in the school, and it was highly unlikely that he would ever feel the same way back, and they'd never even spoken to one another, Patton would get flustered and excuse himself, leaving Roman with Logan and Virgil.

He was happy that his normally anxious friend was able to break out of his shell and make friends with Roman, the only issue was that it just had to be one of the most attractive males that there was at their school.

"I apologise for being late, I had to look after my brother until my mum came home."

"It's fine. I'm glad you're here, maybe Patton will stop looking so glum."

"Are you alright Patton?" Logan frowned at their overly quiet friend. Patton never normally sat in silence for more than 5 minutes, and he sat still for even less time.

"Hm? Oh." Patton forced a grin, it's not that he wasn't happy, he just didn't feel like he should be there, he felt slightly out of place, which was happening more and more since Logan and Virgil had begun dating. "I'm fine."

All three males around him could see through the fake smile, but he didn't care, and as long as they didn't say anything, it would be fine.

Logan and Virgil turned back to the screen displaying their scores, before they turned back to Patton, telling him it was his go. He took a deep breath and tried to ignore the fact that Logan and Virgil were incredibly close to having a cuddle session in the chair they were sharing, and tried to focus on the weight of the ball in his hand, and actually knocking down a decent number of pins.

He wasn't sure what frame number they were on, but he knew he had no chance of winning, not that it mattered. He knew they had one more game afterwards, and Roman would join in then, but Patton wasn't sure if he wanted to. He wasn't sure if he wanted to go through the embarrassment of drastically losing again.

He swung his arm back, and bought if forward, releasing the ball, where he watched it roll down the center until it got halfway, and then it drifted to the left, and into the gutter. He sighed and his shoulders sunk slightly. He hated bowling, he always had, and it wasn't because he was a sore loser, it was just that he never understood the fascination with it, and he didn't get why you had to roll a ball down a lane to knock something over. It was a sport in his mind, and he didn't enjoy sports.

He kept his gaze down as he went to retrieve a second ball, and as he did, he felt a hand grip his wrist, preventing him from picking up the ball he wanted.

"You need to get a heavier ball, it is more likely to stay in the center, based on how you throw it." Roman spoke to him, and pointed out one of the heavier balls that Logan used.

Patton nodded, unable to say much of anything, and he picked up the ball, temporarily forgetting that it was supposed to be heavier, so as he lifted it over the edge of the ball dispenser, he nearly dropped it on his foot.

Roman managed to act fast, and he wrapped his hands around Patton's, steadying the ball in his hands. "Careful. It's heavy." He spoke, a slight smirk to his voice, but nothing condescending.

Patton gasped at the sudden warmness surrounding his hands, and he looked up at the male in front of him, somehow managing to meet his gaze. He blushed lightly, yet couldn't find it in him to tear his gaze away.

"I know you have a fascination with one another, but can we get this game finished please? I'm hungry." Virgil interrupted their 'moment' and Patton blushed a deeper shade of red, before he pulled his hands away, and rolled his ball down the lane, ignoring the obvious gaze he felt on his back.

The game ended all too soon, with the gap in numbers decreasing slightly after Roman helped Patton, and the four males went to get some food, and the day came to a nice end.

And if Patton and Roman exchanged numbers, with the promise of a date, whose to say?
