Chapter Twelve

ROSE hated two things. Being helpless and being speechless. She opened and closed her mouth, staring at the Prince who stood in front of her with a smug look. How she wished she could wipe that look off his handsome face.

"Well, are you going to keep staring or you're going to start moving?" Alex asked looking amused.

"At least let me get dressed." Rose snapped, "I can't go back to the staff quarters wearing your shirt unless you want the whole palace to know we slept together." She crossed her arms.

"Just hurry up." Alex retorted and walked back to his bed.

Rose rolled her eyes and looked around, searching for her dress. "By the way, where is my dress?" She asked.

Alex ignored her like she hadn't just spoken to him. Rose was beginning to get frustrated with his childish behavior. She stood in front of him and placed her fists on her waists, trying to calm herself. "Alex, where the fuck is my-"

"Do I look like I fucking know?" He snapped, glaring at her. "Look for it yourself and get out of my face."

Rose stepped back, offended by his words. She had had enough of him. "You know what? Fuck you, Alex." She seethed, "Fuck. You."

She stomped away from him. She decided if he was not going to be of any help, she was going to search for it even if it meant scattering his belongings. She went to a door which she thought led to his dressing room.

Entering the room, she gaped. The room was the size of her apartment. She went further into the room and was amazed at the number of clothes and accessories he had. Her fingers trailed the glass showcase as she admired the different watches on display. She was sure some of them were made out of pure gold.

"It's sure nice to be born into royalty." She murmured to herself.

"Are you done snooping through my stuff?" Rose heard Alex's voice behind her. She turned around to see him, leaning by the doorway. She frowned and looked the other way.

Rose continued to search for her dress and spotted it at the corner. She hurried and picked it up. Suddenly, she was spun around to meet Alex, who was seething.

"Don't you dare ignore me ever again. Do you understand?" He warned, his fingers digging into her shoulders.

Seriously, bipolar much? Rose thought.

Rose shoved his arms away and glared back at him, "So you can disregard me and tell me to get out of your face, but you won't accept me doing the same?" She scoffed, "Don't humor me, Alex. I'm not someone you can toss around however you like."
She said and pushed past him and walked out of the room. On moving out, she collided with Tyler.

"Oh, I'm so- Rose?" Tyler asked, sounding surprised.

"Hi Tyler." Rose said, "Please where is the bathroom?" She didn't give him time to ask questions. She just wanted to leave.

Tyler pointed to a door and she dashed inside, locking the door behind her. She took deep breaths.

The longer she stayed, the longer she wanted to bash his face. How could someone so handsome have such an ugly personality? No wonder he had many enemies. Me included.

"Arrogant piece of shit." Rose whipped off his shirt and threw it to the floor. She glared daggers at the shirt wishing it would burst up in flames.

Rose shook her head and sighed. If things go on like this, she would never make it home. She had to break through his walls somehow. She didn't have time to gloat and sulk about it. She tapped her cheeks and exhaled.

"Don't let his words get to you Rose. You can do this." Rose encouraged herself. She wore her dress and exited the bathroom.

ALEX felt guilty again. He didn't feel this way until Rose appeared in his life. He was usually composed but there was just something about her that made him act out without thinking. He groaned and ran his fingers through his hair.

"Mind telling me why Rose is in your chambers?" Tyler asked, breaking his thoughts.

"She got drunk when she was with me." Alex sighed, "I didn't want rumors to suffice so I brought her here through the secret passage." He said.

Tyler tilted his head in confusion, "Wait, so you're telling me you were with her yesterday? I thought you said you wanted to be alone in your hiding place?"

"It's not my fault she decided to snoop around and invade my personal space." Alex snapped. "Can you stop with the questions? I'm having headache and I need to eat." He glanced at the bathroom door.

What's taking her so long? Alex thought.

"I'm sorry, your Highness." Tyler raised his arms up in defense, "I'm just a curious old man. Besides, you should be thankful it was me who caught you two together." He said, "Her Majesty would have torn the whole palace down."

"I don't even want to think about it." Alex whined.

The bathroom door opened and Alex and Tyler paused and turned around.

Rose came out, her frail hands dusting her white dress. She looked up at them and did the most unexpected thing. Her lips widened into a toothy grin which stunned Alex. Wasn't she angry at him? The strange female walked towards him and stopped at his front.

"I'm sorry for last night's behavior your Highness." She apologized, "I promise it won't happen again." She spoke as if the events from this morning didn't happen.

Alex was too surprised to speak. His mouth opened but no words came out. Thankfully, Tyler was there to save him.

"It's no problem Rose. We all let loose sometimes." Tyler said.

"Oh, you already know about it?" She hung her head low, her cheeks glowing red.

Tyler laughed. "Oh dear, there's no need to be ashamed about it. We've all been there especially the Prince right here." He rose his eyebrows at him, "The amount of times I've carried him to his room, you will be shocked I'm still standing straight." He teased.

Alex glared at him. "Shut up." He grumbled.

Rose looked up again. "Well if I'm forgiven, I should better hurry and get his Highness' breakfast." She said, "We don't want to leave his Highness starving, do we?" She smiled, peering up at him innocently.

Alex squinted his eyes at Rose. He wasn't sure what she was on to and he didn't like it. It was like a different Rose was standing before him. What happened in the bathroom?

Tyler waved the suggestion off. "There's no need for that darling. His Highness will be eating with His and Her Majesty today." He said, "If you may excuse us, I have something to discuss with his Highness."

Alex snapped his head towards Tyler. He wondered what the occasion was. The only time he dined with his family was if there was a royal visit or an event.

"I will get going." Rose bowed her head, "Your Highness." She glanced up at him and smirked before she left the room.

Tyler shook his head, smiling. "Strange child."

"What's going on?" Alex asked, going straight to the point.

"Need I remind you, the Whittaker's are coming for a royal visit." Tyler said.

Shit. Alex totally forgot. "Fuck." He cursed. "Wasn't that supposed to be next week?" He asked.

Tyler sighed. "I'm afraid not." He said, "Apparently, their daughter, Sophia, was too enthusiastic to see you that she couldn't wait another week."

Alex groaned, rubbing his forehead with his fingers. Sophia Whittaker. His personal nightmare. That woman was obsessed with him. Alex wondered why on Earth his parents would want him to marry her.

The Whittaker's were the Royal family friends which gave them a lot of publicity. Of course, being close friends with the King, they offered their daughter in exchange for marriage. Alex didn't accept it. He didn't want to marry her. But for the sake of publicity and good relations, he was forced to accept the stupid offer. According to his Father, he needed a Queen by his side to be fully accepted by the people. Bullshit. He didn't need anybody to gain his people's trust. He would earn it all by himself.

"You need to hurry up if you want to be on time, your Highness." Tyler said, snapping him out of his thoughts, "I heard their carriage is almost here."

Alex hummed in response. He hated dining with his so-called family but he would have to deal with it.

"His Majesty also wants Rose to be present." Tyler added.

Alex rose his eyebrows in question. "Why?" He asked.

"He didn't say." Tyler shrugged, "I'll wait outside until you're done, your Highness." He walked out of the room.

Alex didn't know what his Father was thinking. He won't lie, he was worried for Rose. He shouldn't be but he couldn't help it. His family was like a pack of wolves who fed on the weak. He was having a bad feeling about this. He sighed.

"I guess we'll find out soon."
