Bonus Chapter 12

I know what I want to do for my very last bonus chapter but that's a few off yet. I think you guys will like it but also maybe want me to die a slow death. We shall see lol.

This idea has randomly come and you know what, we're gonna go with it and see where it takes us.

Current Jam: Victon's Mayday still. This song rose up out of nowhere, smacked me across the face, and basically made me its bitch.

...

Junmyeon's POV

...

The day started like any other. I rose at seven in the morning, swung into ChaoXing's nursery to grab her, and set to work on getting us ready for the morning. Yixing and DaeHyun had gone back to China for something or another, and it was the very first time we'd had our kids separate from each other. It felt...weird. A part of me still expected DaeHyun to come running out of his room with his blanket trailing behind him even though he claimed "most six year olds didn't need one dad."

"Good morning princess," I sing songed to her. She laughed at me like every morning. "It's weird without Papa here isn't here?" She babbled back in that language only children really understood, though some parts of me did wonder if it was turning into a mixture of Korean and Mandaran without a way to distinguish either one. We'd learned it had happened with DaeHyun as he grew up, and at two when he should have been talking it was still mostly a jumbled mess. We'd taken him to a specialist only to be told he knew how to speak just fine. And sure enough, he grew out of it and could now speak both languages with relative ease. He did seem to favor Korean though.

"Da da." I glanced down to my daughter, who held her arms out to me, fingers grasping at empty air. "Da da." A huge grin overtook my features as I hoisted her up.

"What did you say sweet pea?" I asked her excitedly. She giggled and giggled and pedaled her feet in the air like this was the funniest thing she'd ever heard in her life. "Say it again!" I promted.

"Dada!" she squealed. I laughed delightedly. Her first word! "Dada!"

"Oh my god sweetie we have to get..." I began to run out of the room with her, only to stop when I realized. I deflated some. "Hopefully you're still in a talkative mood when Papa and brother return home from China," I told her, cradling her in one arm and booping her nose. "Maybe I should record it for him... No. He'll be back in a few hours. It wouldn't be the same if he didn't hear it hinself." ChaoXing grew quiet in my grasp, like she was listening to me go on. "Should we get breakfast baby girl? Daddy's getting hungry."

"Dada." I assumed that was a yes, so I made my way downstairs and to the kitchen. Kyungsoo looked up as we approached, sending a soft smile ChaoXing's way. I helped myself to some fruit from the bowl on the island, making sure to get bananas for ChaoXing as they were her current favorite thing. I then made my way down the hall, not to our massive dining room, but to the cozy lounge with a worn wooden table, three chairs, and a highchair in it. We mounted a small flat-screen across from the table. I still hated eating alone, but in here, where my family ate most of their meals, it wasn't so bad. It felt a lot more homey than anything else ever had. I got to work cutting up bananas for ChaoXing and flicked the TV on, letting the morning news fill the silence.

"...and there appears to be an ambulance arriving on the scene right now." My gaze wandered up to the TV to see a shot of one of the freeways. A few cards dotted the pavement. "Oh, hold on everyone. We just got word of what happened. Apparently a car was speeding and lost control, slamming into a limo carrying some very important people." My heart clawed its way into my throat and my movements halted. Even ChaoXing, who'd been happily babbling, grew quiet. "It appears that..."

Ring!

"Hello?" I didn't even look at the caller ID as I dove for the phone. "Hello?"

"Junmyeon?" Luhan. Oh god. Oh god no. "Junmyeon, listen carefully, please," Luhan pleaded. "I need you to stay with me, please." I breathed evenly in and out, placing my hand over my heart like it alone could stop the pounding. "Something happened," Luhan began. "I just got the call. I'm coming to Korea right now with Yu Yan and Li Jie."

"Luhan..." I whispered, already picturing the worst. I closed my eyes. "What happened?" I dared ask before I felt like I would plummet over the edge.

"It was Yixing and DaeHyun." And suddenly the phone slipped from my hand and clattered away across the floor. Yixing and DaeHyun... No. No God, please, take everything from me but them. Everything but my family. Everything but my forever. "JUNMYEON!" My name from the phone was enough to pull me out of it. I dove again, bringing it shakily to my ears. "They're okay Junmyeon. They're okay. Shaken up and bruised, but they're okay."

"Luhan..." I sank to my knees, leaning so far forward my forehead touched the floor. I was faintly aware of ChaoXing crying in her highchair, but it was like my body was suddenly made of cement. I couldn't move. Couldn't breathe. I tried to drag oxygen into my lungs and just...couldn't. It felt like I was drowning. And before I knew what was happening the phone was snatched from my hands. I briefly looked up to see Heechan walking away, talking quietly into the device. I caught sight of the baby bag on his shoulder.

"Come on sire." Gentle hands found their way under my arms and lifted me up. I met Heechan's gaze. I threw my arms around him and buried my face in his shoulder, screwing my eyes shut as tears threatened to leak out. "We have to get going Junmyeon. I assume you want to see them?" I could only nod. "Let's go." He hustled me along, ChaoXing tucked against his side, still crying. A small part of my brain wanted to comfort her. A larger part hoped I hadn't been lied to.

Please, I begged as we were loaded into our family SUV. Please, you can have whatever you want from me. My wealth. My home. Everything. Just don't take DaeHyun. Don't take Yixing. Don't take my happiness. Please...

...

Yixing's POV

...

I remembered basically nothing from the day, which didn't seem to make the doctors very happy. All I did remember was DaeHyun and I returning from China after working on a little surprise for Junmyeon and ChaoXing, getting into the limo to come home, and a sound like a gunshot. Also the smell of something burning. Oh, amd DaeHyun screaming. I definitely remembered that.

An accident, they all said. Some idiot going far too fast on the freeway. Losing control of his car. And our poor limo taking the brunt of that. Luckily DaeHyun and I seemed relatively fine. DaeHyun had his arm in a cast. They said he broke something when our limo pitched over and he was slammed to the side, but it was fairly minor and should heal up quickly. I had a wicked bruise traveling up my own arm and down one leg. Thank God the driver got my side of the car. I didn't even want to think of what would have happened if he'd gotten DaeHyun's.

Right now DaeHyun laid curled up in my arms, his head on my chest, breathing evenly as he napped. I had both arms around him, thanking my lucky stars we were both alright. There was still so much of this life I wanted to live. And it appeared I would get to do it. I shifted DaeHyun slightly, checking his cast quietly. He mumbled something in his sleep, attempting to twist away. My grip on him tightened. He had to stay here because...

"YIXING!" I glanced up in time to see the door slam open and a blur make its way across the small space. And suddenly Junmyeon was on me, holding on for dear life, full on sobbing into my gown. I did my best to shush his cries, but DaeHyun woke up anyway. He looked up and burst into new tears.

"Daddy!" he cried. Junnyeon scooped him up and held him close as they both cried. I laid there, stunned. This all felt surreal. I briefly wondered where ChaoXing had gone, but then Luhan came barreling in and that was all the time I had dedicated to that thought. Luhan fussed over me too. I shoved him away, telling him I was fine. More and more people kept pouring in. Heechan with ChaoXing. Junmyeon's parents. Staff from everywhere. I squirmed, feeling overwhelmed. I just wanted to be left alone.

"Guys," Junmyeon finally said, placing DaeHyun beside me and rising. Everyone turned to face him as he strode across the room and took ChaoXing from Heechan. "Can we have some alone time please?" It had been quite a while since I'd seen a room clear out this quickly. Junmyeon sat on the edge of the bed, cradling our daughter to his chest. He watched the last few people leave and the door close behind them. He turned to me, swiping away the last of the tears, an unreadable expression dancing across his features. "You scared me," he finally said. I couldn't help it; I laughed at that. Even when he shot me a pained look.

"I'm fine," I assured him. But that didn't seem to console him in the slightest. His face pinched like he was going to cry again, but no tears fell. "Junnie, baby, I'm fine," I repeated. "DaeHyun is okay. We're okay." He met my gaze, pursing his lips. But soon enough they dropped back into a pout.

"What if you hadn't been?" he questioned. I stayed silent, as I didn't know the answer to that. "What if something really bad happened Xing? What if I lost you guys. Do you think I could live without you?" His voice pitched up an octave at the end. "I don't even want to think about it Xing. But I might have had to. And DaeHyun..." I held up a hand to stop him before he got worked up again. Then I sat up a bit more and reached out to capture one of his hands in both of mine. I brushed my lips against his.

"I'm right here Junnie," I said. "I have some bruises and DaeHyun broke something in his arm. That's the worst of it, I promise. You aren't getting rid of us that easily." He chuckled a little, some of the same spark returning to his eyes as before. Then he and ChaoXing copied up to me and DaeHyun. A bit of a tight fit, but I wasn't asking them to leave. Not now. Not ever.

...

~a few weeks later~

"I'll be right back!" I called up the stairs since I knew Junmyeon would more than likely be in his office. I slung the diaper bag over my shoulder and adjusted ChaoXing where she perched on my hip. "Ready to run errands baby girl?" I asked her.

"Pa pa." I smiled softly down at her, rubbing my nose against hers. The best thing about the last few weeks definitely went to ChaoXing starting to say Dada and Papa. I heard rustling from above me. I glanced up.

"Where are you going?" Junmyeon asked, leaning over the railing between the two floors, trying to act casual. But I knew better than that. Ever since the accident he'd been riddled with anxiety. Any time I left the house he couldn't function.

"Come here," I said, holding one arm out for him. "He came down the steps and sidled up to me. I dropped my arm over his shoulders. "ChaoXing and I are just running into Seoul to pick up a few things. Luhan is coming with us. We're taking the SUV. It's going to be alright." But still he fidgeted in place, seeming unsure.

"Maybe DaeHyun and I should come with you," he decided. But I shook my head.

"DaeHyun is napping Jun," I said gently. "You don't want to wake him up, do you?" Glumly, he shook his head. I kissed his forehead. "I know you're scared Junnie. I know I can't promise you that everything will be alright because the truth is I just don't know. But I can tell you that I won't be very long and we will be back as quick as we can." I remained surprisingly calm through this whole thing. Maybe I should've felt different emotions over this. "I have my phone on me. How about I video call when we all arrive at the store. That way you can physically see that we've all gotten there safely."

"Alright." He visibly relaxed as my words washed over him. "Alright, just... please be careful, okay?" Several years ago, young Yixing might have gotten angry over all the smothering. But current me knew that it was just his way of showing me he cared. That he loved me. That he loved me so much he never wanted anything to happen to me.

"I will try my best, I promise you that," I vowed, leaving him with a lingering kiss. "You'd better get back to work Kimg Junmyeon of Korea." His lips ticked up at the sides, and it felt so genuinely good to see him smile again. "Come on baby girl, say goodbye to dada," I said, grabbing one of her hands and making her wave. Junmyeon's smile shifted to her. Junmyeon headed back to his office after that, and I met with Luhan in front of the great double doors.

"Doing any better?" he inquired. I shook my head.

"He still hates the idea of us leaving," I replied. "I get it though. If the roles had been reversed, I wouldn't want him out of my sight either. Don't let me forget to video call him when we get there." Luhan nodded and I got ChaoXing situated in her car seat. It would be a long, long time before anything returned to normal. The accident left him more rattled than he probably cared to admit. It just left me feeling...numb.

...

This one seems like a good set up for a part two so we're totally doing that. Enjoy this ya'll!
