Curse Sixteen: Arcus

"WERE you able to get the information that you needed, Premiere?" Tanong sa akin ni Claude when I felt her entering the faculty office. "I hope you've already gotten the answer nang makaalis na tayo rito."

Originally, knowing what's with Supremo's action was the primary reason why I entertained his game. However, knowing the real deal why I should be here changed because of the information that Supremo had given me.

"I need to stay here." Tugon ko sa tanong ni Claude. Alam kong nalaglag ang panga nito.

"What? Why?!" Histerikal nitong tanong sa akin.

"Apollo happened, Claude. Someone has been exposed to Apollo and not just me." I replied.

"No way! Are you freakin' sure about that?! How come na may iba pa pala?" Lintanya nito sa akin.

"That's what I need to find out." I responded together with my decision.

"Who's the unlucky human?" Austin asked through our earplugs.

"The heir of this Organization." I replied.

"No way," reaksyon ni Claude.

"I don't have anytime to explain things. Both of you, gather any information about Nicholas Javier. Austin, try to use the Satellite. You can jeopardize the signal and my connection as I still need to be blind. Claude, try to befriend with him. Try to dig something from him." Utos ko sa kanilang dalawa. "Two person are on their way here."

Mabilis kaming umarteng hindi magkakilala ni Claude when the people whom I'm expecting to join entered the office.

Dalawa iyong kapwa guro. Base sa tawa at boses ng dalawa, I figured out that it was Maxwell David and Nikkadorpha Taluyot.

Maxwell David is the instructor for Jujistsu and other martial arts class. While Nikkadorpha is a Chemist and Physicist Professor whose teaching how to kill through various elements of nature.

"Oh, hi guys!" Magiliw na pagbati ni Nikkadorpha. "I'm really happy that we have two new teachers here." Then she giggled.

She's quite weird. According to the sources from Austin had provided, she's one of the psychotic scientist whose really fond of holding her teddy bear wherever and whenever she has classes or none.

Sensing the way she uttered the words and the way she used her intonation. I therefore conclude that she's faking it. Masyadong plastik ang pagkakasabi niyang iyon. Not sure tho why.

"Hope you're still alive after this semester."

Teacher pa man din.

Nikkadorpha giggled and Maxwell snorted from Claude's question.

"Haven't you read your Teacher's Manual?" "It states there that once you got the highest number of murdered students in a whole semester, you would be subject for termination."

"It will reflect kasi iyon sa performance natin na isang guro if how effective we are as their mentor. Kapag maraming napatay sa klase mo? Then it will shows how ineffective you are to teach. It will destroy your credibility as well." Dugtong ni Nikkadorpha.

"How many teachers have been eliminated from the last semester?" I asked the both of them.

"Three," maangas na tugon ni Maxwell and felt his posture moved as he put his hand on his pocket and his other hand held his chin.

The reason why we got the position, huh.

"How many teachers ba ang mayroon tayo rito?" Tanong naman ni Claude kahit na we've already known the numbers.

"Almost thirty plus, I guess. We had a lot of students who are coming in. Nikkadorpha answered.

She has a point. Based from the list we gathered, this University caters almost different nationality worldwide.

"I know what you are thinking, Premiere. Don't worry, I'm still in the process of digging in their database to check if all of them were really part of Privus. Just like what you've guessed. They play dirty? They would recruit unfairly."

When I read the manual and the list, few weeks before I ended up being here, I noticed something really fishy. And it's something that beyond the policy that this organization had established.

Just like what I've said, Mafia is different from any other illegal entity of this world. They play dirty but they follow the promises and deals that they would have made. They're more established from the other Houses of Privus.

I need to find out kung ano iyong nararamdaman kong mali. And I'm going to make sure that I will make it right. Kung bakit ko kailangang itama? Ewan ko rin. I just have this hunch that I need to do something about it.

"Thanks for the info, guys. But I don't need your reminder or if you are calling it a warning. I think I can manage." Anas ni Claude and flipped her hair at lumabas na ng aming office.

"Oh, ang tingin mo, Maxwell. I know that look. She's the Art of Seduction Professor, hindi prostitute na nakukuha mo lang sa kung saan saan." Rinig kong anas ni Nikkadorpha kay Maxwell.

Maxwell snorted, "Alam mong I can get whatever I want. No one resisted my charms, darling."

"I know, fuckboy.

"Psh! C'mon, Nikka. I know you are just being jealous since it's been a while since the last s*x that we had." Paglalandi nito sa dalagang siyentista.

I felt Nikkadorpha pushed Maxwell. "Having sex is currently not on my list, Max. Too busy putting your worm inside of my shell."

It's on my list!!! Kapag si Alastair ang nasa toplist. Hihi!

Jusko, worm at shell! And the fuck? Anong nasa toplist si Alastair? No-- yes? Fuck!

"I think both of you should get a room." I finally uttered as I could almost hearing Max's breathing turning into something wild.

The man snorted at me and whispered, "Pa-epal-- Aww!"

Nikkadorpha might have pinched the man. "Your mouth is too dirty. Stop that."

"What? 'Eh sa pakialamera siya. Tsk!" I heard Nikkadorpha slapped his arm.

"Sorry..." nagulat ako nang magwika ang dalaga. I immediately responded.

"Asia... my name's Asia."

"So?" Rinig kong bulong ni Maxwell.

Sinaway ito ng dalaga. "Sssh! Shut up," then she looked at me. "I'm sorry on behalf of him, Asia. Pagpasensyahan mo na."

I smiled at them. But I'm not sure if I'm facing them right. Umiling iling ako sa kanya. "No need to apologize, that's okay. I understand."

"Aww, you're too nice! I like you na." Then she walked in front of me and hugged me. An unexpected move from her. "Hope we can have our own time to get together.

"Nikka, c'mon! We are going to be late! Let go the blind woman already!"

"Nice to meet you, Asia. I'm Nikkadorpha by the way and we really need to go now.

Then she left me right after that.

Well, she seems nice? Nagkibit balikat na lamang ako.

I was on my way back to my dorm in Villa Soffirire when my feet started to go otherwise. May narinig kasi akong sigawan at tila may kompetisyong nagaganap.

I stomped my right foot to feel the vibrations from the surroundings. Based on my findings, ilang dipa lang ang layo ko sa mga estudyante sa ibaba mula sa lugar ko.

Sensing things around me is somehow difficult to determine.

I'm visualizing people around me through vibrations and the air.

Ang layo ng kayang maabot ng aking senses to feel vibration is still limitless. I'm not yet measuring it. Though, there were times that I'm pushing myself to feel everything in a larger picture, still, it's still an unknown info for me.

Even my other senses are being heightened if I don't have my sight. Hindi lang ang aking sense of touch. And of course, ang may dahilan no'n ay walang iba kung'di ang Apollo.

I refused to open my Lenses and watch the kids to compete using their Bows.

It must be the Archery class of Mr. Jeremy Go-- an archer and sharpshooter Professor whose expertise are guns and bows. We are somehow in both field. Since I'm a long-range shooter, hindi nalalayo ang kaalaman ko pagdating sa klase nito.

His position has been offered to me by Supremo but I refused it. First reason is that, it will be a hard time for me to teach and guide Alastair if my class is more on combat. I don't want anyone else to know about this. It's alright for me to be bullied as a blind woman than to be called cheater. And lastly, ayokong mawalan ng trabaho si Jeremy Go. Nakakahiya naman sa kanya hindi ba? Baka mawalan ng career.

Besides, kilala ko sa mukha si Jeremy since I've scanned all of the teacher's profile. Yummy rin iyan. Pero mas yummy ang lalaking nagngangalang Alastair. Hello!

"You're here." He's walking while his hands are on his pocket.

"Nicholas..." I uttered. "Don't you have any class?" I asked.

I scoffed from what he did.

It's one of my passion you know. Favorite hobby ko kapag wala akong ginagawa masyado.

I sat few inches away from the class. There's a semi-circle styled bench on the ground.

The professor should make his class as quick as possible. Dahil mas mahirap nang magturo kapag masyadong lumakas ang hangin, arrow's speed would narrow down because of the wind.

"H-Hi... She ran at me when I sat down. Tipid akong ngumiti just to acknowledge her presence.

"Hi, Archilliah." I greeted. "You belong in this class?" I asked her.

"A-Ah, y-yes, po." She replied.

My forehead crumpled the way she answered me back.

I advised her. She feels too conscious dahil alam niyang teacher pala ako at hindi ang inaakala niyang estudyante.

Which is nakakagago nga naman.

"That's okay, ano ka ba?"

It's cool. Really."

I know right.

There's actually a reason what I did that.

Not just because I'm blind that's why I took advantage of it. But because I want to check who among those students are observant. And I had identified one.

"EVERYONE, I'll be handling the Art of Senses all throught out of this semester."

"How would you teach us about our sense of sight if even you don't have it?"

I'm actually waiting for Alastair to help out for them to be quiet.

"Mr. Almerador? Would you please took the honor to raise your hand and let me guess how many fingers have you raised?" I asked the first guy who rant about my disability.

Wika nito sabay bungisngis.

"Two." I answered back immediately.

And the crowd stunned and have been silent for a while. Hindi inaasahan ang mabilisan kong pagsagot.

"I'll take your silence as a yes."

"All of you. Raise your hand and show me how many fingers you have raised. Look at each others fingers and observe."

Alastair didn't raise his hand and he kept on watching me. Ang isa...

"May I know the name of the man who didn't raise his hand aside from Alastair?"

I could hear every gasped of the student inside of this room. They were like have been bewitched from what I did.

The man from the far left corner of the room stood up.

"Arnold Chiu." Tugon nito.

"Why you didn't raise your hand?"

"And how sure are you that I'm not raising my hand?" Maangas nitong tanong sa akin.

I smirked at him. Sinusubukan ako nang batang ito. "You're not going to stand up if you're not the one who raised your hand."

Naumid nito ang dila sa aking sinagot. It's logical to answer a kind of question he asked.

"Let's just say that yes, I'm the one who didn't raise my hand. But how sure you are that only me and Alastair who didn't raise our hand? If you're just pretending to be blind, hindi mo kaagad masasagot na dalawa lang ang daliring itinaas ng kaklase ko. It's either you really have your eyesight, or you're a very lucky woman to guess that correctly."

For others, it's easy for them to judge someone without knowing the person. As if they're a cat whose waiting for a mouse to reveal its presence to get caught in a single hole. Without knowing that the mouse might be using other way to escape from the cat's claws.

"Have you asked me what's the majority of your classmate's hand who raised a certain number of fingers?" I asked him seriously.

"Not yet." He replied. "Can you guess?"

"Five." I answered without any hesitant.

All of them scoffed harder.

"I'm pretty sure you know how I did that, Mr. Chiu. Would you mind explaining it in front of the class?"

I simply sat on my chair while waiting for Mr. Chiu to speak. Arnold Chiu is one of the students here in Vexigo who's IQ is in the average. He's a type of person who doesn't have any friends here in the Campus but yet one of the top performing students. He's in Sezione A5 student. The Fifth top student of Sezione A.

Categorizing the students are based from their performance on the whole semester. They should pass and should have gained a lot points before the Final Exam.

Sezione is identified from Sezione A to Sezione E. Sezione E is the lower level and those who are in danger to be terminated.

Sezione A has Top twenty performing students; Sezione B with Top Thirty; Sezione C with Top Forty; Sezione D with Top Fifty and Sezione E with Ten students only.

Categoria Z classes are more on Physical classes.

"You just predicted it the way human's usually doing it. When you told one of them to raise his hand, the man raised and showed his two fingers immediately. Why? Dahil iyon ang unang ipapakita ng isang tao sa taong lasing at may gustong ipabilang to check if he's really drunk. Would you raise your three fingers in front of a drunk man instead of the simplest number that can be done? The same as when you asked all of us to raise our hand according to the number of fingers we would want to show. Technically speaking, in front of a class, the student would automatically raise all of their fingers as if they want to get your attention to answer a specific question. Would you rather raise two fingers if the teacher wants you to show your hand for you to be called? No. That's how you got the answers correctly." Arnold explained it briefly.

He's correct. I didn't use my sense of touch to feel their vibrations and visualize their human structure on my mind.

"Thank you for answering it briefly, Mr. Chiu. You may now take your seat and you'll be receiving five points advantage for your final exam."

Professor has a sole right to give plus points for their advantage in their Final Exam. Points are being converted to life points. Kaya kailangan talaga nilang mag-ipon ng mas malaki pa upang manalo.

This student is a competitive type of guy. Hindi man niya daanin ang lahat sa pwersa, he's using his logical thinking to surpass everyone. And it's something that everyone should be proud of.

"All of you should always know how to use your common sense and logical way of thinking upon having a battle with an opponent. This will be a great advantage for all of you. Strategical and actual fight will both energized not just your physical strength but also your mind set-up. Hindi lang sa brasuhan pwede kang manalo. You should also know how to win using your brain. Either you'll create a solid strategy or you'll make them a fool by trolling them."

And that will cause you to your own bed of death.

.

"Miss Archiliah! It's your turn!"

Hija, aral tayo bago chika. Tsinelasin kita diyan 'eh.

"Go on, it's still your class. Do well." I only uttered and I gave her a cheerful though short yet meaningful encouragement.

"Miss Graham, am I right?!" Anas nito gamit ang hawak nitong megaphone. I somehow displeased from the static sound came from the megaphone.

Gosh, ang sakit sa tainga!

I turn my gaze at his class and nodded. Ayoko namang sumigaw bilang tugon.

"Would you mind joining our class? It seems like you don't have any classes anymore." Paanyaya niyo sa akin.

"Be careful, Premiere. Though he's a cocky type of a guy, he has this strong observant skill. Beware." Austin said on the other line.

"Thanks for the heads up. I hissed while walking guided by my walking stick.

Gusto kong sampalin ang may pasimunong no pets are allowed inside the vicinity of either Villa Morte or Villa Agonia.

Once I reached their class area, I was shocked when Jeremy put his arm on my shoulder.

"Welcome to my humble class, Miss Graham. I hope you don't mind na sinama kita rito. I know it's inappropriate but I heard something about you when it comes to bows and arrows."

You know what's even more inaappropriate? Iyang kamay mo hijo. Sarap tapyasan ng mawala.

"Huh?"

"I said, would it be nice if you could show us how good you are when it comes to archery. I heard something about you. Before you became a teacher here ay Long-range shooter ka raw. I've been telling this to my class since you're one of my inspiration in this field, Honey. Sabi nila, it's impossible because of... you know, your disability."

Austin is right, he's an observant and a good reasearcher.

"Don't worry, Premiere. We used your usual credentials and background when we registered you here in Privus. Your true background is still safe as hell." Austin on the other line reassured me.

I smell something not right.

"Sir pogi, maybe Ma'am is too shy to show us her skills."

"Yeah, baka naman kwento kwento lang iyan."

"Oo nga, ser! Baka bogus iyan. Pfft!"

"Akala ko ba, Sir, the standard convention on teaching archery is to hold the bow upon using our eye dominance. Paano niya magagawa iyon if she doesn't have any eye to see and use?"

"Hold this." "Guide me where's the area to shoot."

"Are you sure about this?" His tone is in concern mode however, I know for sure that he's smirking at me at natutuwa ito sa pagpatol ko.

"Place three students few meters away from me but their distance to each other is few inches each."

"And I want the first three person who had spoken a while ago, Mister Go. Papuntahin mo na sila roon at wala na akong oras maghintay." Sunod kong wika.

"Is he smirking?" I whispered.

Austin replied immediately. "Yup, the asshole is too happy to hide his excitement with your play. Put him along please. Bangasan ko na rin iyan e."

No need to request, Austin. I mentally smirked at my mind.

"For my last request. Mr. Jeremy Go. It would also be an honored for me if you would the last pawn few inches away from card board target. And oh! One last favor. I don't want them to move at baka mataaman ko sila.

Kapag ginawa niya iyon, that means he's backing out on his request or should I say challenge for me.

I don't know what you are up to asshole but I'll never leave your class without any triumph plastered on my lips.

The three students are now shaking. All of them are girls at tanging si Jeremy lang ang lalaki.

"Shall we start, Professor Jeremy?" I asked sarcastically.

I even heard him uttering "damn it" but I refused to acknowledge that he said that.

You don't underestimate a woman with disability.

"Go, Premiere! Whohooh! You've never done this before. Your tricks are way different than this! I'm so ecstatic to watch." Hindi mapigilang wika ni Austin.

"Asia, are you sure about this?

Sabihin na nating I'm going to draw a line between him and I kung hanggang saan lang siya dapat maging curious sa akin. I'm just going to give him a warning.

"Help me to prepare the equipments?

"I need to five metal arrows, Archilliah."

"Huh? Bakit, five?" Takang tanong nito.

"Gusto mo sa'yo tumama iyong isa?" Pabalang kong tanong rito.

Daming tanong.

"Ito na nga po, Lima." Then she put the sling bag of arrows sa likod ko.

They guided me back to my position.

"You just need to hit the target, Miss Graham. No need for this."

The board with the red spot was placed two hundred meters away from my point of shooting area.

I inhaled and exhaled before I raised the bow and draws the string with three metal arrows on it.

The students went silent as well and they're waiting for my release.

Once I'm done calculating the estimated speed travel of my arrows and to compute the feet per second of my turn, I calculated next the correct trajectories of my targets.

When I think my calculations are refined, I released the arrows from the string hand.

Sino kaya ang uuwing lechong natuhog?
